Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: ShairTunes Plugin
I have this working on a mac mini running yosemite, but only if I run slimserver.pl directly from the command line, not when using the start button in the Preference Pane (Pain?) When running from the pref pain I get the infamous: Code: [15-02-20 17:51:03.5684] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (147) Error: Select task failed calling Plugins::ShairTunes::Plugin::handleSocketRead: Expected port number from decoder; got at /Users/tv/Library/Caches/Squeezebox/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/ShairTunes/Plugin.pm line 344. ; fh=IO::Socket::INET6=GLOB(0x7f971a0c8d48) Does anyone know what differences there are in how LMS starts between the command line and Pref Pane? I've checked they both use the same version of perl so presumably there is a difference in library used based on path ordering or some such but I haven't yet been able to figure it out. odw199's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15387 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100379 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Michael is probably thinking about mysqueezebox.com use with the Touch and Radio using the BBC Radio Applet. For that scenario he's probably correct, the boxes stream direct from the source and mysqueezebox.com doesn't do anything other than supply pointers to the streams etc. I'm much more intersted in using my local LMS (I'm on the released 7.8) to transcode, probably using the BBC iPlayer plugin to strip the HLS. I use a Receiver so the AAC needs transcoding to FLAC anyway. Is it in the interest of manufacturer to update old products where development and test facilities have been mothballed and new codec licenses have to be agreed. Better to encourage user to buy new latest player. Manufacturer are also wary of which standard will be required for next year - HLS, HDS or DASH ? If the vendor provides an upgrade for HLS today forp free - will it be outdated by 2016 and then will vendor then be expected to product as DASH upgrade still at no cost to owner of player. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

What hacks me off with Qobuz is that the promotional material on their website quite specifically says for the Basic subscription that you can listen to 'all your music, at home or ON THE GO (my caps). But when I asked them why had it stopped working, they said that Basic was only for the desktop at home. So they are misleading customers. For me, it's not worth shelling out any more just so I can listen to on my iPod in my workshop attached to the house. The daft thing is that if I lugged my iMac down to the workshop then, of course, i could listen. But that is not practical. The expired makes me think there is a delay in receiving the stream (i.e. network issue) or else there is something wrong in the ffmpeg build. I have solved this. I had tried the same ffmpeg binary on a different machine, a Core i3 also running Ubuntu 10.10, on the same network (literally connected to the same switch) and it worked fine. I had also compared the download speed of both machines and found them to be the same, so I had discounted a network problem. However, your comment ..makes me think there is a delay in receiving the stream... made me rethink this and I checked the time taken to resolve the URL on each machine and found the D510 to be much slower. I did not want to make any of the IPs static so I hacked /etc/resolv.conf to hard code new (different) list of DNS servers and then set the immutable attribute with chattr +i (I am never sure what the correct way to force this setup, dynamic IP with static DNS server address is). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: PlayHLS Plugin - plugin to play Apple HLS m3u8 stream
Many thanks to bps for the plugin. The plugin works fine, but I am having trouble getting ffmpeg to work on my Atom D510 Ubuntu 10.10 (64 bit) server. Trying to listen to BBC radio channels via the plugin on my squeezebox radio produces brief snippets of audio interspersed with long connecting/buffering gaps. When I try using ffmpeg from the command line, e.g. ffmpeg -i hls1.addictradio.net/addictalternative_aac_hls/playlist.m3u8 -f flac -compression_level 0 somefile.flc (with the http in front) I get skipping 2 segments ahead, expired from playlists type messages. A flac file is produced, but this contains glitches every ten seconds - corresponding to the individual files making up the stream, I suppose. This occurs whether using the ffmpeg 2.5.4 that I built on the machine or the static build from johnvansickle. The same ffmpeg binary works fine on my Intel i3 Ubuntu 10.10 (64 bit) server, producing a file with no glitches and a windows build works fine on my i5 Windows 7 desktop PC, so I assume the problem is with the Atom D510. However, some people seem to be reporting success with equally weak CPUs which is perplexing. Moreover, top shows ffmpeg hat it is using very little CPU while running on the D510, (ffmpeg very occasional spikes to 11% CPU) with the overall CPU below 20% at all times. Any suggestions gratefully received. tiepx's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64027 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103158 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

However, I have not been able to find a receiver/relay that uses 5V to switch the 120V power to the amp - most of them seem to use 12 or 24VDC, so I would need another power source. Not a big deal, but I thought that if a USB power relay solution existed, this would be a simpler solution for use with a laptop (of which I have plenty - I don't have any Pi at the moment). Another solution would be to employ an input signal sensing relay to control the amplifier power. Many new inexpensive amps have this built in, but I would prefer to use the NAD amps that I currently have. The idle current is probably very low based on the minimal heat output, but I'd prefer to switch them if possible. Thanks I also own a nad-amp and i control with lirc_web made by Alex Bain. I run it on a raspberry pi with squeezelite. My nad amp switches off and on with use of the plugin SBNetIO made by Cadfish wich sends a lirc command to lirc_web. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Qobuz.com streaming plugin
Nope, it's still working right for me with LMS 7.8.0 and plugin v1.204. You may want to first check that your Qobuz subscription is still valid and that your plugin credentials are the good ones. Also, if you're -not- subscribing to some lossless offer, you'll want to check that the plugin is set to play MP3. That being said, I've already encountered cases where some albums aren't available for streaming, in which case you'll only get short excerpts. I guess it's a matter of Qobuz not having them tagged as non streamable, because I'm pretty sure I've come across such one album recently, and can't find it any more in the new music. So I think the plugin would filter them out when tagged correctly. On another subject, Qobuz would get a lot more money from me if I had a mean to add albums to my cart (or at least favourites). I don't think their API offers anything like that, right? If you type Code: which perl at the command line what do you get? After installing MacPorts I found I had two versions, one in /opt and one in /usr/bin My command prompt had /opt earlier in the path than /usr/bin so when I manually added the required dependancies with cpan, they were added to the /opt version. But slimserver.pl specifies the path to perl as /usr/bin/perl, therefore the installed cpan modules were not being used. To fix this I temporarily removed /opt from my path: export PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin Then re-ran the cpan installs which added them to the /usr/bin version. Starting slimserver.pl then worked with the shairport plugin odw199's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15387 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100379 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
