So true. I think I will wait for an Onkyo I have ordered to turn up
rather than fiddle with alternate binaries :)

My start/stop problem from yesterday in case it helps others. I had
installed sq2u manually on my Vortexbox a while ago to test and found
that my old Revo Internet Radio adapter wasn't compatible so left sq2u
alone until I needed it for a friend's set up. Decided to re-try the
plugin on my VB having (I thought) removed the manual install. I hadn't
however removed the binary from /usr/bin/. When I attempted to start the
plugin the logs told me it was actually starting what turned out to be
the old version in /usr/bin/ as it is on the path. I may be the only one
that gets caught by this but you could ensure that the plugin starts the
right version and no-one else would get caught.

I do think this plugin is well worth the effort as if it can be made to
work with more devices and a compatibility list created then it holds
the key to unlocking the joys of Squeezebox control options (iPeng etc)
to those that currently only have the clunky upnp options. My mate in
the South of France being a case in point. I haven't fully converted him
to iPeng as yet but he immediately saw the difference from just the LMS
web interface over his clunky Denon remote & app.

Hi and thanks for this wonderful plug-in!
I've this little problem: if i set plug-in to not-stop, after the last
track of the playlist, with the "non stop the music" option, the music
goes on, but if i have some of my hard disk with music not connected
(temporarily, i mean), and the song selected can't be found, obviously,
the music stop, Smartmix doesn't skip that song till the next on line
AND in line...
is there something to do or to fix it?
usually i skip manually in the playlist...
thanks anyway!

LMS will not work reliably if you pull the library from under its feet.
That has nothing to do with SmartMix.

I apologize that you are still having problems with the app.

My setup is fairly close to yours. I have:

LMS 7.8.1 on OS X Yosemite
LMS 7.9.0 on IS X Yosemite

and

LMS 7.8.1 on Windows server 2012

The app crashed before when handling the name of the player it receives
from the server. I was able to reproduce the crash that occurred for you
by inserting special characters in my player name, and that enabled my
to produce a fix.

Could you please send me your crash report to slimlibr...@matglo.com and
I will investigate.

As far as the size of the app goes, the on boarding backgrounds and
images make up a large chunk: 44 MB. It is also written in Swift, which
produces larger executables than Objective C.

Thanks
Louis

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Can someone point me to the most recent Spotify Triode configuration info?

2015-08-19 Thread Paradiddle

I've been having issues with Triode's Spotify plugin on my SB Touch
lately (not connecting to Helper app, which I don't understand in the
first place) and would like to try setting it up from scratch. Can
someone point me to a thread or post that contains an _up-to-date_ guide
on setting it up in LMS? Part of the problem, I suspect, is due to my
running free Avast! antivirus software on my PC.

To give a bit of context, I am NOT an advanced computer user;
configuring LMS and my SB Touch to work with each other is about the
limit of my capabilities. I just don't have the time or expertise to
devote hours of my evening time getting everything to work. I like the
plugin and my SB Touch in general but given that it's no longer
supported by Logitech and that ongoing operation appears to require
somewhat advanced computer skills with every update, I'm not sure how
much longer I'll be able to use it. :(

For the time being, I'm just looking for a recent tutorial or user guide
on how to set up the plugin in Windows 7. Thanks.

My Onkyo CRN755 has arrived a day earlier than expected - hooray.
sq2u has found it - hooray
but
it can't create a squeezelite instance
that can't be anything to do with the device can it - must be a LInux
thing
can you throw any light Phillipe ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Max2Play Webinterface for Mediaclients (Audioplayer, Squeezeserver, Airplay, XBMC)

2015-08-19 Thread slackhead

Thought you all might like to know that I've been able to have both
squeezelite and Kodi running simultaneously (although not playing media
at same time) and using the same single USB DAC by adding '-C 20' to the
squeezelite config options and setting Kodi's 'Keep Audio Device Alive'
to OFF. These options release the audio output when not in use and
free it for other applications. (Don't know what will happen if both are
playing at same time, I guess I should try.)

This may not work for everyone but works great here. No need to have
Kodi shutdown before using squeezelite. I can have both Kodi and
squeezelite auto start on boot with no issues (so far).

I was previously doing this with OpenElec so thought it should be
possible with Max2Play too. Obviously Max2Play has the huge advantage
that I have LMS running on it - something that is very unlikely to ever
happen with OE.

On a side note - LMS runs really well on the Odroid U3 - a good bit
faster then my Raspberry Pi 2 - scanning my 65000 track library took
less than half the time (probably largely down to eMMC, but other
factors may well be an influence). And Kodi seems to run a bit
smoother.

Stephan/Flysurfer - you've done great job getting this all working so
well. I've purchased the premium support license!

One small request:- I've updated Kodi to your latest release. When it
starts up I get a warning about running Release Candidate 1. Any chance
of a upgrade to final version?

Many thanks
Richard

But not adverse to using someone else's

Ditch Avast and use the Microsoft Security Essentials.
Install a V7.9 LMS.
Let the SBT update.
Complete the Spotify set up as you did before.

I don't have any more time to spend on folk who won't try and help
themselves.

Yes something is wrong , it's the same setup metod as before nothing has
changed . You setup triodes plugin in LMS as before same inductions
apply 2 minutes of work . If it works as it should .
Regarding firewall be aware of the helpers app port nr it wants to be
open ( it' specified in the plugins setup page ).

Something did not work right during your setup , there are some test
buttons on the plugins setup page you can try .

But the answers is probably somewhere in your firewalls or other
security settings or something else related to your system .
As no else knows the specifics of your system there is no generic help .

Is this the way it was on your setup or on your friend's setup ? It is
straneg because I don't think squeezelite by default is blocked volume
and in the capabilities I'm reporting, I'm nopt asking for that neither
- what LMS version do you use ?

In fact, that's a very good point. I looked at the code again, and I
realized that I let the option 'HasDigitalOut' set to '1' in the player
capabilities I send to LMS upon creation. This means that user *can*
configure (in LMS 'player, audio' option) volume to be fixed at 100%.
Although by default on all LMS versions/systems I've tested, players are
created with this option set for adjustable volume, it obviously can
happen in some cases that the player is created with volume fixed at
100% (I'd still like to understand why/how). So I've changed that now
and squeeze2upnp players do not let LMS offer the option to have fixed
100% volume.

NB: LMS volume command can still be ignored in the plugin page option
