Unfortunately, the UPnP protocol does not include synchronization.
Synchronization amongst LMS-controlled players only works for native SB,
all squeezelite based players and AirPlay devices with my AirPlay
bridge. Synchronized Chromecast devices can be controlled by my CC
plugin, but sync only happens amongst CC devices. Same for Sonos using
my UPnP plugin.

Unfortunately not. Google would not release their protocol. You can
synchonize CC amongts themselves, when you create a group, it appears as
a new LMS player, but there is not sync between SB and CC. You need my
airplay plugin if you want sync

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2016-12-18 Thread pfhastie

I am running Logitech Media Server 7.7.1 r33735 on my Zyxel NSA325 v2
NAS. I use it to feed the audio to: my Xperia Z5 smartphone using the
Squeeze Player receiver app; my 4K Fire TV using the Squeeze Player
receiver app; my Windows 10 desktop PC using Squeezelite. It all works
more or less seamlessly, but I would really like to have an always-on
mains-powered Squeezebox receiver rather than have to use my smartphone.
I happened upon a Pure Jongo A2 receiver selling for £15, so I bought it
on the basis that I could add it to my LMS setup using philippe_44's
innovative plugin.

Setting up the Jongo proved to be a pain (turned out to be an overlooked
router setting), as did getting my head around installing the
squeeze2upnp plugin, but I finally got it working, only I am completely
unable to sync up all the players. I have read through much of this
thread and many other websites trying a wide variation of settings, but
nothing seems to make much difference. The smallest delay I have had is
about 2 seconds. If I drop my Jongo from the list, everything else
synchronises as it should, but as soon as I add it again, it plays out
of sync. The Jongo seems very good otherwise, the bluetooth and wireless
connections are strong and the DAC sounds very good, but for me the
greatest joy of multiroom audio is the ability to have all your audio in
sync throughout the house so putting up with it is out of the question.
It sounds terrible when it is out of sync.

My question is, is it a simple fact that UPnP connections will never be
able to play in sync with other squeezebox receivers? If so, would I be
better to simply buy one of those cheap android TV boxes that come with
a 5GHz wireless connection and optical out (which you can pick up on
eBay for as little as £20) and simply install another instance of the
Squeeze Player receiver app? There would be no UPnP to worry about in
that instance. Or should I just try and source an original Logitech
Squeezebox Receiver from somewhere? It would be so good to get the setup
I have working, but if it's a non-starter, I'd rather not waste any more
time.

I would be very happy if I could conquer this little mountain before
Xmas so any and all suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Theres about 20 signed up so far but Not everyone will be free to test
every release and I'm keen to see how this works on the wide range of
devices and setups people have.

If if you already have or don't mind setting up an Amazon developer
account, by all means pm me your email and I'll set you up.

i had a chance today to finalise the first release version and got
tripped up by a bug that only presented when a playing track had an
apostrophe in its title. Took a while to find and fix all seems to be
working now.

i just need to finalise test scripts and should be ready to circulate to
testers tomorrow.

Yes, indeed. iPeng has no problems with accented characters.
But LMS requires Unicode character support (utf-8, to be precise).

Is your server running on an old Windows version?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Accents in iPeng

2016-12-18 Thread Bosconermal

I have iPeng 9 for LMS 7.9. I listen mostly to classical music so lots
of composers and compositions with accents in them. For example

Jan Václav Hugo Voříšek comes out as Jan VÃiclav Hugoȉ
VoÅÃÅƐİek

The word "Frühling" comes out as "Früling"

Is there a way to fix this? There will be thousands of other examples
throughout my catalogue.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify stopped working constant rebuffering

2016-12-18 Thread mjversluis

Same problem here, started yesterday (December 17). All kinds of errors,
among which dropping framerates.
Any clues yet what could be causing it and whether it is temporary?

Also from The Netherlands.

I'd be interested in their findings but will they really look into a
problem which is not strictly company work related or can it be
portrayed as a technical quirk in their network and this happens to be a
convenient example.

For support tell them the URLs are time related so the non UK URL http:
//as-dash-ww-live.akamaized.net/pool_6/live/bbc_radio_fourfm/bbc_radio_fourfm.isml/dash/bbc_radio_fourfm-audio=96000-231573427.m4s
relates to
a time 231573427 - this is a sgement numner and each segment is 6.4 secs
long so 231573427 * 6.4 = 1482069932. The number 1482069932 is the
number of second since 1Jan-1970 (see http://www.epochconverter.com/ )
which converted is "Sun, 18 Dec 2016 14:05:32 GMT"
The 96000 in the URL is the bitrate. This segment is valid for about 2
hrs but you can make up any segment once you know the formula.

You now know how to produce a log from LMS. If you want a log of
network message from a Chrome Web browser playing a radio stream do the
following (other browser have similar functionality) .

1. From Chrome - Play Radio live - this opens a separate window with
program details.
2. Right click on the playing window - select the menu option "Inspect"
which should be the last one.
3. A new window entitled "Developers tools ..." opens with web page
html etc. - click on the "Network" in the menu bar at top of the
window.
4. You should now see request from the playing page to network. Every 6
secs you see in Left hand pane a amessage like
"http://as-dash-ww-live.akamaized.net/pool_6/live/bbc_radio_fourfm/bbc_radio_fourfm.isml/dash/bbc_radio_fourfm-audio=96000-231573427.m4s";
if you click on this message you'll get deatils on Right hand side.
5. If you do use Chrome and feel confident - please right click one of
the audio HTTP request and select "Copy Request Headers" and paste in a
post to this thread.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANNOUNCE: Alexa voice control (development thread)

2016-12-18 Thread twisted

Hi, tbh honest this is the first real reason to need to post, but I have
been a lurker for a number of years.

Currently I am running node-red on a Pi2, but have a Pi3 spare, or could
move it to a ESX install that I have running for other projects, if this
becomes a little under powered. I keep seeing posts on other forums with
people running unRAID setups, it seems very poplular, I haven't had a
chance to try it (and a little over committed to my current setup).

I'll pop over an email shortly, thanks

Thanks for all of your input - much appreciated. Clearly these forums
(and Squeezebox in general) are all the better for your presence :)

Now over to the network guys...

Hi Matt

Thanks for the offer of help.

You've got a very similar dev. set-up to my own. What are you running
Node-Red on, as a matter of interest? (I've got everything on my unRAID
server).

You have a low post count so won't be able to PM me. Please send an
email to admin@ the project domain (see my sig) and I'll get you set up
on the project portal.
