More evidence. Squeeze Player, which I hadn't used for a very long time
because SBPis generally better, played the 48kHz files just fine. So
the problem is NOT the mobile.

AFAICT No version number supplied.

I think this is the issue that started last week - BBC chnage show up a
bug in 1.5.2 in DASH. I created a test version of 1.5.3 which I think
cures the problem - just haven't got around to upating the repo to let
all get upgrade. Workaround is to exclude DASH in the Settings format

Ok i sussed it , sorry for the confusion. Its because ive updated to the
lastest qnap beta which uses 64bit. Heres a link to the thread if anyone
else has the same problem.
The copying of the flac and faad file works.

Hi
Nothing is disabled in filetype.
My system is Qnap 251. I'm on 7.9.0 - 1487249278. Latest qnap server is
running a 64 bit, wonder if that is causing a issue.
I can play normal flac files OK still on every player.

Radio can play AaC, natively, Duet, classic and Boom cannot play AAC
natively - so likely expolanation ois problem with transcoding.

Check Filetype to see oif there is a entry for AAC - Flac something like
faad/flac and it is not disabled.

If "faad/flac" is present then lilkely that faad or flac is not working
- in whci case somehting wrong with your installation. To help full LMS

I just played Autour Du Rock and Jazz from command line ... and they
were 192k
AUDIO: 48000 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 192.0 kbit/12.50% (ratio: 24000->192000)
Selected audio codec: [mp3] afm: mp3lib (mp3lib MPEG layer-2, layer-3)

For the regular FIP station, TuneIn returns to URLs - midfi (as in the
PDF and is 128k when I play it) and lofi.
Perhaps LMS chooses one randomly.

If you enable debug logging for my plugin then you will see which stream
URL is really being played.
(it gets redirected to a different host - but is the same stream)
For example - here is an edited log entry from when I was playing FIP
(via a Favorite that points to a TuneIn reference)

Code:

  [17-02-19 17:55:47.0042] Plugins::RadioFrance::Plugin::timerReturn (461)
fipradio - timerReturn - client Kitchen stream changed to
http://chai5she.lb.vip.cdn.dvmr.fr/fip-midfi.mp3

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC IPlayer on older SB2 is slurred / slow

2017-02-19 Thread jamesarbrown

Fixed.

Thanks to bpa, the pointer where the issue was is in the aac>pcm
conversion. The SB2 seemed to go for PCM (I don't know what rules these
players go through to request a format from the SlimServer) yet the
touch goes for FLC.

Under file types I simply disabled AAC with PCM. The secondary attempt
for SB2 in format appears to be MP3 and hence we get a lame conversion..
which seems to sort the issue pointed by bpa.

Code:

 2812 ?S 0:00 sh -c
"/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/x86_64-linux/faad" -q -w -f 1 - |
"/usr/local/bin/lame" --silent -q 9 - -
  2813 ?S 0:00 /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/Bin/x86_64-linux/faad
-q -w -f 1 -

Does anyone know a way for getting the SB2 to say go for FLC all the
time. SB2 I think supports native and it will then behave like the
Touch, Boom etc.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC IPlayer on older SB2 is slurred / slow

Didn't work

Its not a setting or install issue, completely scrubbed
squeezeboxserver, including all folders in /var/lib and /usr/share,
/etc/squeezeboxserver, reinstalled with only 1 new plugin as iPlayer and
still same.

Though I hasten to add, my guess was 10% slow, so bpa's 9% sounds
exactly like the issue.

Just I don't know enough about squeezeboxserver insides to know why it
does different transcoding for a touch over a SB2 per previous post.

If BBC plays slightly slow about 9% slow then the stream is being played
at 44.1Khz rather than at 48Khz ( 44.1/48 = 0.91) which is what BBC uses
for HLS and DASH streams.

At a guess you are trying to play AAC as PCM (which only knows 44.1Khz)
and/or may have disabled Flac or WAV.

Before doing any more debugging you must return all File Types setting
and conf file settings to "as shipped" - otherwise it will be just
"stabs in the dark" to find the issue.

It is not good to modify LMS supplied conf files. If you want to modify
convert.conf setting - use a custom-convert.conf with the required
changes as it will override the convert.conf. It is easier to remove
afterwards and is retained between upgrades.

The two autour-du channels I've listened to (also using the pdf URLs),
jazz and rock, sound less good and are lower level. And the "more info"

[SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC IPlayer on older SB2 is slurred / slow

2017-02-19 Thread jamesarbrown

Hi,

Has anyone had experience with older SB being slurred (slightly slow,
almost drunk) on the system, and if synchronised will cause other
players to do same. Only on Triode BBC Iplayer and since the newer
streaming methods. For past few hours decided to make an effort and try
to fix.

1/
I checked it wasn't faad, by both using a stock faad and changing the
AAC>PCM settings in the convert.conf from -f 1 -b 1 to -f2 (pcm to wav)
and that did not make any difference

With a touch only
