Thanks for the suggestion, Michael. I've just installed 7.9.1, but when I try to open Spotty>Playlists the webUI waits and waits for the server but doesn't load. The log again says Is it limited to the web UI and Playlists again? Would other menus work? Do you have a large number of playlists? It's odd that you'd experience the same issues with two totally independent implementations. Please enable debug logging for plugin.spotty (Settings/Advanced/Logging), re-try, then upload the server.log file again. Thanks! [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty - the next generation Spotify implementation
I'm happy to announce Spotty, my next generation Spotify implementation for Squeezebox. Spotty has no dependency on mysqueezebox.com, nor player firmware, and supports all types of players. It is using the open-source librespot library (https://github.com/plietar/librespot) instead of the soon to be defunct libspotify. Once you've installed Spotty from the plugins repository, you can safely un-install all other Spotify related plugins (official plugin, Triode's 3rd party plugin, Spotify Protocol Handler), as well as remove the Spotify app from your mysqueezebox.com account. Then go to Settings/Advanced/Spotty and follow the instructions. On platforms other than Windows you should be able to authorize the plugin using your mobile or desktop Spotify application. On Windows unfortunately you'll have to enter username/password (which are NOT stored in LMS). Spotty should run on MacOS, Windows (needs MS VC 2015 runtime!), and many Linux flavors (i686, x86_64, ARM HF & SF). It's known to run perfectly well on eg. Raspberry Pi 2/3. Unfortunately many NAS devices using ARMEL CPUs won't be supported (eg. ReadyNAS Duo/NX v2, some of the cheaper Synology devices). I'm currently running it on a piCorePlayer setup on Pi3, connected to the aforementioned ReadyNAS Duo v2 - and it's so much more faster than the NAS alone, it's worth it :-). Have fun! [SlimDevices: Plugins] Official Spotify plugin / Spotify Protocol Handler suddenly no longer working
I was using the Spotify app this morning (it normally works flawlessly), and found it was failing to connect to my playlists. I went to the LMS Web Interface, and this was extremely sluggish, failing to load pages properly. After a lot of fruitless investigation, I decided to upgrade LMS to the newly released 7.9.0. This installed OK; and I cleared and rescanned the library. But the problems persisted. After restarting the Linux box (Debian Wheezy) that LMS runs on, the web interface was responsive as normal. But as soon as I try to open the Spotify app, the web gui became very unresponsive. After another reboot, the Spotify app opened after a long delay, but when I tried to open my playlists the web gui again became totally unresponsive. This is the section of the server log after the last restart: [17-07-05 10:45:59.6150] main::init (388) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.9.0, 1488878280, Wed Mar 8 14:27:16 UTC 2017) perl 5.014002 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi-64int [17-07-05 10:51:41.3675] Slim::Formats::XML::gotErrorViaHTTP (310) Error: getting http://www.mysqueezebox.com/api/spotify/v1/opml Timed out waiting for data [17-07-05 10:51:41.3724] Slim::Web::Template::SkinManager::_fillTemplate (337) Error: file error - recursion into '/usr/share/squeezeboxserver/HTML/Default/xmlbrowser.html' [17-07-05 10:51:41.4137] Slim::Utils::Timers::__ANON__ (273) Error: Timer Slim::Networking::Async::_async_error failed: [17-07-05 11:15:20.1023] Slim::Formats::XML::gotViaHTTP (238) XML/JSON parse error: unexpected end of string while parsing JSON string, at character offset 41377 (before "(end of string)") at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Formats/XML.pm line 324. Further investigation revealed that the Spotify Protocol Handler (SPH) was reporting I was not logged in to Spotify. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Official Spotify App. I rebooted the server, and the LMS GUI behaved as normal. I logged back in to Spotify in the SPH settings. I was able to use my music library, including MusicIP mixes, entirely normally, from both the web interface and my Squeezebox Classics. But if I selected the Spotify App on the web interface or on any device, I was unable to use Spotify; and the LMS web gui became very unresponsive. SPH was again reporting that I was not logged in to Spotify. I was able to log in again, and after a reboot I was still logged in. I appear to stay logged in as long as I don't use the Spotify app! When I looked at the server log again, I saw further errors: [17-07-05 16:47:43.8936] main::init (388) Starting Logitech Media Server (v7.9.0, 1488878280, Wed Mar 8 14:27:16 UTC 2017) perl 5.014002 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi-64int [17-07-05 16:52:26.1923] Slim::Plugin::MusicMagic::Plugin::_musicipError (528) MusicIP: http error, no response. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] For the brave only: the Spotty Spotify implementation
Thanks Michael. I am using the Odroid as a server. I went ahead and have had some success. The basic installation steps seemed to work without issue and Spotty is showing up in My Apps. I wasn't able to authenticate via my Spotify app on my Android phone. It wasn't showing any devices at all (not even the phone itself which was playing at the time, though subsequently I installed the PC desktop Spotify app and I do now see that on my phone). Manual entry of credentials allowed me to run the Spotty app via the web interface and I played something from my Spotify library on a Boom I have in the room. So essentially I think it is working but I'm still not able to see it as a device from my phone. Is that what is referred to as 'Spotify Connect'? (Sorry, I'm still catching up on this!) In case it's relevant I am running Max2Play/LMS 7.9.0 on the Odroid. Is it worth trying a nightly 7.9.1? Hi guys, Sorry about the late response. I was off work a little while, but back now :) @mnvelocitypilot: Thanks for the detailed feedback. Bluetooth is a fickle thing, we have also had some issues in the past that vary widely depending on the device. If possible, you could try using DLNA (LMS plugin or gmedia render Audio Player) instead. Well, at least when they're home anyway. Zoltan wrote: > 2. Looking at the initial post, there is some interaction with MySB > implied. Thanks for the heads-up! The initial posting was badly outdated. I've fixed that. No, you no longer need mysb.com to use Spotify, if used with Spotty. Zoltan wrote: > 3. (If not known, I am happy to try and report back.) Are you using the Odroid as your server or player? Players should all work. Server side - it depends. There was a positive report for the Odroid XU4 (and many ARM based NAS devices FWIW): http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107418&p=887136#post887136 I have no idea how this transfers to your unit, though... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] For the brave only: the Spotty Spotify implementation
Hi, I'm a long time SB user but completely new to Spotify, having just succumbed to my kids' pleading and signed up to a family account. Now that I am paying for it, I would like to see if I can get it working with my SB system. There seems to be more than one way to do this and to be honest I am a bit confused. Maybe I could ask a few questions... 1. Even though the title of the thread suggests bleeding edge, has this implementation stabilised now to the extent that it might be recommended to a new user? If not, what approach would be recommended and can someone point me to simple up to date instructions? Assuming I do proceed with the new approach... 2. Looking at the initial post, there is some interaction with MySB implied. I have never to my knowledge used MySB (other than setting up an account a long time ago) - I've always been a local server/local music collection SB user. I'm guessing that there is some assumed knowledge of setting up a Spotify account on MySB. Is there some explanation of this somewhere? Is MySB needed whatever approach is taken with Spotify? 3. Hardware compatibility was mentioned as a possible issue. The thread has got to an overwhelming size now and I haven't read much of it so I apologise if this is already answered but is it known whether an Odroid U3 will work? (If not known, I am happy to try and report back.) Thanks in advance for any help. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Bluetooth Pairing with Smartphone/Tablet for Max2Play
Hi. Im using Squeezelite (along with LMS) under Max2play on my Pi3 to play on a (paired & trusted) bluetooth speaker. At present i have to click Connect on BT tab of M2P web ui (or ma ually run a simple 'connect' script every time to 'wake up' my speaker (after going into standby mode for example). Id like to run the connect script when my squeezelite instance is switched on through ipeng or orange squeeze (and poss disconnect on switch off). Anyone done that? I've noticed a -S squeezelite command switch that looks promising but havent been able to find any more info / example usage. It would be good to solve this because when connected, output on my Samsung R1 is reliable & top notch (for the size of the room). Ta.
