on this page:

And looking again, I still don't see them. Where did you find them?!

Yeah, they stopped updating their public API documentation years ago. As
well as handing out dev keys.

For completeness of this thread, if you could post a link to the
'fancollection' API info, that would be awesome!

What I posted is about what I know. I was wondering whether I should
start a github project to document this. If it doesn't exist yet :-).

FWIW: while I know now how to get your collection, I still can't imagine
how browsing 2000 items will be useful

Ok, I think I've figured it out. Their web page is excellent for this
kind of work. Almost all data is fetched by some API call :-).

https://bandcamp.com/api/fancollection/1/following_fans

Just the parameters I still need to figure fully out. They use some

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks

2018-02-22 Thread Michael Herger
As outlined in another thread majone mentions, not all sources do
support seeking - which is required for this plugin. Spotty does (if
you're running a recent LMS 7.9.1), Qobuz does not. Other sources depend
on their server configuration.

I think I have the solution in two parts. Firstly I'm playing MPEG-4
audio files which LMS transcodes to FLAC for my Boom players but leaves
as MPEG-4 for my Radios. The problem is that LMS appears to be incapable
of specifying a MPEG-4 time jump for the Radios, so they start at the
beginning of the track or where they last remembered a pause. The
solution is to disable native MPEG-4, so LMS takes control of everything
and correctly specifies the timing via a FLAC stream. Secondly, I think
it's better to stop rather than pause the devices, because I suspect the
pickup point after "stop" is definitely provided by LMS that works
across all devices whereas pause may allow a device to decide where it
wishes to restart a track.

Thanks for the update - i was beginning to wonder if this could be an
odd bug that i overlooked.

As a side note if other users are reading this: You could experience the

Since most users would use Spotify i tested Michaels Spotty Plugin with

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X

2018-02-22 Thread rgdawson

Version 1.3.3 is currently in the MS Store.

Recent Changes include:

You can now define both the Http port and the CLI port to match how you
have your Logitech Media Server configured. Typically 9000 is the http
port ID and 9090 is the CLI port ID. These are the defaults fro LMS and
those are the defaults for Squeezelite-X as well.

Media Key Integration was improved. The original approach used a
Low-Level Keyboard hook, which didn't work well with Fast User Switching
(e.g. having multiple users logged in each running an instance of
Squeezelite-X at the same time. The new method is per session, so
multiple instances logged into same machine to not interfere with each
other.

Squeezelite-X will now not allow you to run multiple instances by the
same user session. Different users can each have an instance running in
different sessions.

I fixed a potential crash that could happen if you clicked on the tray
icon before the browser thread had fully initialized (< ~1sec).

I updated the browser dlls to the latest Chromium Embedded Framework
version.

I updated the credits tab to fully and more elegantly give credit to
Open Source Software used to create Squeezelite-X.

That's about it. I think I'll leave it alone for awhile, as I don't
have anything else I can think of to do.

Enjoy,

R Greg Dawson

I'm not sure, tbh, whether it's even supposed to run on the Zero: I

I must finally find some time to move the helper to the new librespot

I use Bookmark only for files on my LAN, but I know that the streaming
plugins are quite inconsistent in providing timeshifting. For example,
the Soundcloud plugin doesn't allow timeshifting of Shur-i-kan's monthly
"in the mix" tracks that are about an hour long, whereas the Podcast
plugin allows access to shurikan.libsyn.com/rss that can be timeshifted.
Both mp3. Guess which I use?

You mean when using the Connect feature or using LMS and iPeng? I do not
use Spotify Connect and I do not like to use it as long I can use iPeng
to controll LMS and all its features and plugins this way :-).

I am not sure if I explained the problem correctly..., so another try
:-).

If I am searching for an artist and open the view where all Albums,
Singles and so on for this artist are shown, I get also the possebility
to play the "Top tracks" of the artist. This item can't be played via
the context menu of iPeng. Clicking on "Top-Tracks" will open the
playlist and all titles are shown instead. This was different in the
past, there was the possebility to open a context menu via iPeng when
activating the "Top-Tracks" item. Now I wonder why the possebility to
open a context menu for the "Top-Tracks" item is gone and if it is
possible to bring it back maybe :-.

Ciao,

Me again (you must be getting fed up!). Because I'm using audiobooks
with several separate chapters, I specify LMS to play albums (ie the
entire audiobook). Bookmark correctly lists the album, and the tracks,
and certainly goes back to the correct track across all devices. But
then it can get its knickers in a twist, sometimes starting the track at
the correct time, sometimes starting the track at the beginning before
jumping to the correct time, sometimes starting the track at the
beginning and not jumping to the correct time, and sometimes pausing for
tens of seconds before doing anything. I appreciate that this may be an
LMS issue, but it would be good to get your view.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Full-text search missed results

2018-02-22 Thread Michael Herger

- There are three searches logged for each "1999" and "2000" while I
   only searched once.

As this is the live search, the search action isn't triggered when you
hit the enter key, but on a timer. It can happen that a search is
triggered more than once under certain circumstances. Which explains why
performance is crucial for this search action. See below.

Why do some searches get a "w10"?

The full text index stores multiple sets of data for every item. They
are put in different places, which later on would be weighted by their
importance. w10 has highest weight, w1 lowest.

And here comes the lengthy explanation of what I've found investigating
this very special case. Most likely (depending on your music collection)
this really is a rather special case:

- the keyword is very precise: you know what you expect
- the keyword is very short
- the keyword likely is very popular

Now that popularity thing might be a bit irritating. You probably only
have one single track with this name. Why would it be popular? Because
we're dealing with a full text index, covering not only titles, but lots
of other pieces of information, too. Eg. years, file paths, comments,
even MusicBrainz IDs.

Digging the 99 case in my collection I found a lot of these:

Comment: ExactAudioCopy v0.99pb5

Yep. Or something like that:

UFID: [ http://musicbrainz.org, ebe13618-bbdd-4ef3-9a91-9981602e528f ]

That -9981602e528f at the end would match, too, as our search term is at
the start of that "word".

That would explain the popularity of the search term. But why would an
obvious hit not show up, but some obscure, hidden data would win?

Now this is getting complicated. Many factors play a role: optimization
for speed (which might penalize this particular case), the nature of
full text search indexing not only the obvious data, but anything. And
some poor, deliberate choices. And bugs. Wow. Searching for "99" brought
quite a few issues to the light of day :-).

So there's some optimization going on because the search needs to be
fast. One of these optimizations is to try to limit the result set when
we risk to deal with a large number of hits. Eg. short search terms, or
single terms. In this case we're limiting the results to hits in the
highest priority column only (which explains the "w10:99").

If we know that we are still dealing with a large resultset (>500 items
found), the current implementation would only pick the top 500 items.
And that's where I would say there is/was a bug: we pick the top items
out of an non-ordered list... which means that even if the score of "99
Luftballons" was high, but it was far down the "randomly" ordered result
list, it would be cut off.

When the search is being run, it does weigh the results based on
aforementioned columns. If Nena's album had one track called "99
Luftballons", but another album had ten tracks with the EAC version
string in the comment, the latter might outweigh Nena, because the track
title on an album has weight 5, but the comment has 10x weight 1.

This is where a stupid decision kicks in: for whatever reason I decided
it was a good idea to put the MusicBrainz IDs in w10. Sure, it's a
unique value for every item. But nothing else should have them, right?
Therefore they should always bring up exactly one track, even if the
value is stored in the lowest priority column.

New builds are due out in a bit. Unfortunately my shiny new build system
still isn't installed in a decent place. Therefore I have to upload from
behind this super slow 10Mb connection... So please be patient.

Thanks for an interesting test/edge case! :-)
