No. I like it where it is. On mobile it would be too cramped.

The wording is perhaps not the best - I'll try to think of better text
for the next release. When clicking on items in the browse view, if its
an artist/album/etc the you navigate into it. If it was a music track,
nothing would happen. With this option enabled, the menu that is
produced by clicking on the music track's "..." button will be shown.

Like it says. Show context menu when clicking anywhere on an audio item.
If "Always show menu" is turned off then the context menu will only be
displayed when clicking on the three dots on the right and clicking on a
track name will do nothing.

What does "Always show menu" do?

Always show menu
Show context menu when clicking anywhere on an audio item.

I tried it on and off, but I don't see any difference (desktop).

Glad to hear you are enjoying SLX. I know what you mean and I struggled
with the best way to do this. The problem I had was that there is no
tray icon if you disable run in background, so I needed to always have a
taskbar icon for the minibrowser, just in case it is the only window.
If not "run in background", closing the main window closed the app.
I'll give it some more thought. Perhaps I can add some conditional
logic to only have a single taskbar icon or conditionally not have the
minibrowser taskbar icon if there is a tray icon.

Michael,
I just wanted to drop in to thank you for you work on this issue from
months back. The stopping has been reduced to a pause of ~10 seconds,
and I do not need to manually move on to the next track. Much improved!
I can't imagine the work it must take to track down and fix these
annoyances that only seem to affect a few individuals.
Thanks again!

Main changes:

- Fix playback of YouTube and Spotty items.
- Initial desktop UI.
- Fix music/artist info retrieval where MAI plugin changes artist.
- Fix server provided categories disappearing when language set.
- Add a context menu to browse sub-toolbar, allowing navigation back
  multiple levels.

2018-11-15 Thread gorman

Great work going on with the new skin. Can't wait to try it.

Meanwhile, I've been using SLX *a lot* lately.

One thing that seems... "off":

I use the MiniPlayer a lot and I think it should not reside in the
taskbar. I know I first asked to change its name but the more I use the
more I get convinced it doesn't make sense for it to be there.
I explain. When you are using the miniplayer, you see it in the taskbar.
If you minimize it, it goes in the taskbar. If you expand it, it stays
in the taskbar.
But if you click on the tray icon, you get the expanded version and now
two entries in the taskbar. If you reduce to miniplayer this second
"instance" you are left with a single Miniplayer window (and that's
correct).

I guess it would be better for Miniplayer not to be in the taskbar. It
takes away space for something you can in any case control from the tray
icon. This way, when you expand it you would get a single taskbar
instance (which I feel is less confusing behaviour).

I hope my explanation was clear.

Buffers are much smaller than that

- streambuffer (undecoded audio): 512K
- outputbuffer (PCM 32 bits samples in "mp3/flac/pcm" encode mode or
undecoded audio in "thru" mode): 4MB
- recode buffer for HTTP transfer ("mp3/flac/pcm" encode mode or
undecoded audio in "thru" mode ): 512K

Then you have to add CC's buffer which I don't know, but I think it's
4-8MB

So ~10MB, an order or magnitude belows. Still can be a few short tracks
if you use mp3 "thru" or mp3 "encode"

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Qobuz.com streaming plugin

A few days ago, over at a Computer Audiophile forum, I asked David Craff
from Qobuz for help. I wrote:

*"Perhaps David from Qobuz can lend a hand...I, as well as many
others(judging from their online presence) enjoy Qobuz via LMS/Squeeze
plugin. The terrific folks who wrote and maintain the software inform us
that the 500 favorites and/or playlists limit cannot be increased from
their end. After years as a subscriber, I'm forced to remove existing
favorites so that I can access additional favorites.
This is not the case when using the desktop(OSX) app or the IOS app.
I'm not keen on replacing my Transporter for the sake of ditching LMS.
Please comment. Thank you." *

He graciously answered me(immediately) with this:
*"We do have a limit of 500 when requesting favorites on our API.
But the limit is only on the call in order to limit the response time.
However, we can pass the parameters "limit", "offset" and with the total
number of favorites, recompose end by end, all the favorites.
For example, the first call can forward the first 500 favorites to
the user's 2349. Then a second call is made with the "offset" parameter
on a value of 501 and the "limit" parameter on a value of 500 to have
the next 500 favorites and so on until the total number of favorites is
reached.
The limit is not mandatory since it is a maximum of 500, but it is
preferable to make calls with less results (50 or 100 for example)"*

Does this mean that it is possible to increase the number of favorites
that the Qobuz plugin can display? Hope so. I, unfortunately, do not
have the chops to pull it off.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Connection timeout is 30 seconds.
"Volume Trigger" was not activated, but even after activation the
stuttering starts after 30 seconds.

Can you tell me more about the WX-10 clock issue? How do I deal with
that?

What is the response from:

Code:

  curl 'http://lmshostname:9000/jsonrpc.js' --data
'{"id":1,"method":"slim.request","params":["", ["musicartistinfo", "biography",
"artist:The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band"]]}'

I do appreciate that the use case here may be unusual i.e. 2 x Album
Artists but it is the method I use of grouping albums together under one
artist.

I think the fix to this is not released yet. Unless you're running the
plugin from Github, this would happen if the returned album or artist
name would be different from the one used in LMS. Which is likely the
case if name cleanup is being applied.

Craig has fixed this, but not released yet, afaik.

Yep, setting up tunnels is hard I've found. A lot of ports, a lot of
ways of getting it wrong and not many good tools for debugging.

However if you've got SSL with Nginx working (I'm guessing you looked at
https://github.com/declension/squeeze-alexa/blob/master/docs/SSL.md#with-nginx-19),
then even better. It's newer and perhaps easier to configure for about
the same performance, I'd estimate.

For security, you should just make sure it uses client certificates so
that not -anyone- (with SSL) can connect to that CLI - this is what my
example config does.

Sure - anything in particular? Obviously no amount of documentation can
let two processes bind to the same port; I guess could be more explicit
about choosing stunnel *or* nginx *or* HAProxy

2018-11-15 Thread d6jg

Sorry but I have found another instance where the "Now Playing"
integration with MAI doesn't work in the same way as via the Queue/More
and the reason is obvious

This time its an Artist Information lookup

Via Queue / More / Artist Info

25993

I have the album tagged with two Album Artists - MAI is quite capable of
dealing with it by asking which you want to lookup

Via Now Playing

Simply hangs with Fetching

25994

I do appreciate that the use case here may be unusual i.e. 2 x Album
Artists but it is the method I use of grouping albums together under one
artist. The above isn't a great example but if I was playing Road to
Escondido by J.J. Cale & Eric Clapton then the Album Artist tag would
look like this - J.J. Cale & Eric Clapton; J.J. Cale; Eric Clapton -
which sorts said album undr all three artists. Its unusual but I don't
think its uncommon.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CastBridge = integrate Chromecast players with LMS (squeeze2cast)

2018-11-15 Thread Michael Herger
Philippe - quick Q.: I recently figured out that my Spotty as well as
the Radio Paradise plugin have an issue with players using large
buffers. And as I've just had another report of a CastBridge user having
a problem with RP, I was wondering whether this could be the case here.
How large are your buffers? I know of people who set their squeezelite
to use hundreds of megs as audio buffers. And that was causing problems.

Basically: if the buffer is larger than "a few tracks" (eg. 100MB), then
these plugins could run into issues.

D'oh Yup, I'm 99.99% that's it. It also explains why I never see
it happen. Changing (line 397):

Code:

  this.serverTop=[this.top[0]];

To

Code:

  if (undefined!=this.serverTop && this.serverTop.length>0) {
  this.serverTop[0]=this.top[0];
  } else {
  this.serverTop=[this.top[0]];
  }

Should resolve the issue. All this does is initialise the translation of
"My Music"

In playerMenu()
- Change line 1100 to var serverTop = [];

That didn't change anything.

But I think I've found the trigger: if the language file is received
after the menu has been created, the list is being wiped. The language
file download would trigger "langChanged", which in turn would cause
"initItems" to be called - which wipes the current menu.
