Unfortunately Spotify doesn't give access to these features in their

Can you describe in more detail? What do you mean by "auto-lock"? You
might mean the screen locks or you might mean the computer goes into
standby or sleep. If you are still hearing music, then I'm guessing the
computer is still awake. Are you saying when you wake the computer or
regain access to the desktop that then you can pause and start the
music, but that the SLX running material skin has stopped updating? I
guess I am not understanding precisely what you are seeing.

That said, since the beginning of SLX development, I have faced an issue
with computer sleep/wake. The problem is I basically have two
applications running, SLX and squeezelite. I cannot predict which will
wake up first. If the client computer has been sleeping for more than 5
minutes, The LMS server will "forget" that player. In this case it
takes a while longer for the LMS Server and the squeezelite player to
reconnect, long after SLX has woken up. IF the Material Skin polls the
server for ino on the player, it will fail for awhile until the player
regains consciousness and is reconnected to the server. For a long
time, my solution was to go ahead and terminate the squeezelite process
upon sleep, and then restart the player process upon wake. That way
things are more orderly. But that introduced another problem. The
Squeezelite process can only be successfully started if an operator is
present (e.g. you touch the computer to wake it, like the keyboard or
mouse). If the computer is woke with a timer or a WOL packet, the
computer will wake, SLX will start squeezelite and squeezelite will
abort. The way you would see this is when your computer wakes up in the
middle of the night, say, to perform a backup. What you see the next
day when you wake up your computer is that squeezelite says it aborted.
(It really aborted in the middle of the night during the unattended
wake.) But it looks bad. So in 2.1.2, I went back to the first method,
but I intended to make it work better by detecting when the player does
eventually re-connect to the server and then refreshing the browser
(among other things).

So that is why I am particularly interested in the precise details of
what you are seeing. Thanks. I may need to go back to the previous
way. (I'll do some testing).

Some of the playlists in that section can be subscribed to, so that they
end up in the Playlists section, but not all.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] An AirPlay question

2019-03-12 Thread d6jg

Starting a new thread as I’m not sure where the issue lies.

I have been experimenting a bit with AirPlay on my Sky Q box both with
pippin’s ipeng and phillipe’s airplaybridge.

In both cases local files work exactly as you’d expect with correct(ish)
track duration countdown and cover art.

However when it comes to tracks from Spotty neither method displays
cover art. Track duration is OK.

In the case of Radio Paradise track duration is all over the place but
that is perhaps to be expected and cover art sticks on the first track
played but the rest of the metadata is correct.

On the ithingy being used as player/controller and indeed on anything
else with a display that may been synced all is good.

Leaving aside RP which is a bit of an oddity what is the difference
between local cover art and Spotty cover art so far as AirPlay is
concerned? Is it that LMS does not pass on a readable location?

Anyone know the answer or better still a solution?

I saw this several days ago when connecting to a max2play pi at home
from work. I have not seen it when both client and pi are on the same
LAN at home. And it does not happen when connecting from work to a
windows box at home. I think I did something on the pi or on the
network that fixed it (but I can't remember) but it was working again.
Then, last night my max2play pi got corrupted, so I restored the image
and the problem is back. So now I need to remember and redo whatever I
did before.

Are your clients on the local network or remote?

I'll reply more later when I re-figure this out. (I think it is a
max2play pi or network thing).

Thanks. I saw that, but decided not to install. However, I'm pretty sure

You could be right. A search for Cyrillic characters using WebUI (Radio

There's a couple of reasons why you don't see an error for the WebUI.
First, the search from the WebUI could just go thru different code path
on the server than when the search is coming from a network remote like
Squeeze Control. Second, if you use the search button in the header bar
in Squeeze Control, it's not really issuing the same search command as
the search in the WebUI.

The errors seems to have something to do with a plugin and OPML. That
could possibly be an error when searching for radio stations. The
header bar search button also searches for radio stations.

I have an issue if I leave the Laptop running and the desktop auto-locks
after a while. The Squeezelite-X Window is not getting updated. I can
hear the music playing, I can pause and stop music. But I don't see what
is currently playing because the progress bar doesn't update.
The visual is stuck on some music that was played while I was at the
laptop.

This problem only happens if I use Material Skin.

If you run LMS locally, you only need mysqueezebox.com for those music
services that require authentication. As I don't use any of these
services, I run LMS without mysqueezebox.com integration, have done for

Rather off-topic... but anyway: LMS will continue to work. mysb based
services like Deezer, Pandora, Napster would cease to work. There
are/might be alternative implementations (eg. ickStream). But local
music, radio, music services already supported by 3rd party plugins will
continue to work.

Yes, I did that, but the browse menus do not work. Maybe because I use
multilibrary as well?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotty really slow...

2019-03-12 Thread piguy

Success!

My test results...

1. When pCP is already selected as a device in the Android Spotify app:

- A random track starts playing after 4 seconds
- Skipping tracks also takes 4 seconds

2. When a track is playing through my phone's speakers and I switch to
pCP in the Spotify app:

- Track continues playing after 9 seconds

Thank you for your patience and support, Michael. Spotty is excellent
now! :D

Cheers

Indeed, I use AirPlay to stream TV content to my AppleTV. I use a
dedicated iPad app of VRT (Belgian telivision company).
Ok, clear and thank you for the clarification.

Do you have an AppleTV Ipeng app or is it on the making?
I probably won't be using my AppleTV for playing music but it could be a
nice way to show the now playing content at parties.
