Thanks! It's odd that I cannot reproduce the issue you've seen. I'd
always get a "Found ..." line telling me what file it finally chose. But
anyway - this debug session has resulted in the addition of some useful
console output which will be part of the next release.

By the way, I just discovered a useful Linux command -disown- which will
orphan the ngrok process from the terminal session you used to start
ngrok, meaning that ngrok will stay alive after you close the terminal.
The '&' at the end makes it run as a background process but it will
still autodie when you close the terminal unless you disown. I added
that to the official docs.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: squeeze-alexa - DIY secure Alexa integration

2019-10-10 Thread philchillbill

As announced in the post
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?111016-Announce-MediaServer-*certified*-Alexa-skill-for-LMS,
I have created a certified skill for controlling LMS via the JSONRPC
interface. The installation instructions provided in the section -server
configuration- of the online documentation
https://smartskills.tech/mediaserver/ describe how *ngrok* can be used
for a really simple reverse-tunnel setup that's very secure because the
ngrok executable running on the local machine enforces authorization,
plus the whole path from Amazon to local machine is https. There's no
port-opening needed because the tunnel burrows outward to the ngrok
cloud service on outbound 443 which is always allowed. The whole thing
is a 2-minute setup.

Just wondering why you never considered this approach for squeeze-alexa?
It it because you use the CLI port 9090 and that traffic wouldn't work
across ngrok?

Thanks for pointing me to the OPML file. I'll take a look at it. That
subtle fact is not mentioned in the API docs - what's there is:

So you can see that's where I found the DOT notation reference. I
created a few favourites in 2008 and never revisited them so have no
idea how I ever did it :)

I’m not sure it is DOT and I’m not in a position to check at present.
However it’s easy to create a nested structure using the standard LMS
GUI and I can say that favourites get stored in a file called
favourites.opml
My preference would be
Open Favourites
List Favourites
At top level that might be returned as

Radio 1
Radio 2
Folder called “Other”
Radio 3

Play Radio 2
Or
Open Other Folder and List contents

Sorry - what large changes? You can see the value on screen. Not sure
what you mean by in stages of 10% - the volume step is configurable, and
is the same for the volume buttons. If you mean when swiping for 10% to
50%, the volume should change in 10% increments with a delay inbetween -
then no. What I could do is send all volume steps, and remove the

Master branch: volume control is definitely working better. I would
suggest however that if it is possible, when making large changes in
volume that it be quickly ramped in stages of say, 10%? It is very
responsive now, but a large and instantaneous change in volume can be
jarring.

I have been using material/mobile as a browser app, but I find what
might be an issue when running it in a browser in normal fashion - there
a lot of functions that can be activated by touching the now-playing
display. Basically, this all works well, but if using material in a
browser such as Opera or Chrome, the URL line will scroll off the screen
when swiping up, and scroll back into view when swiping down, so the
whole now-playing display is moving while changing volume this way.

If running material/mobile as a browser app - the URL is not present so
this issue does not occur, but a new user to material/mobile might be
unsure as to what he is doing. I am almost about to suggest that swiping
up/down to control volume be a setting that is initially disabled by
default - not sure actually what is best.

Try latest git/master. I've added 'debounce' to this as well - what that
means is that the volume change is not sent until 1/4second after the
last change (so after you stop swiping up/down). This is to prevent too
many volume changes being sent needlessly.

2019-10-10 Thread philchillbill

By popular request, playing favourites is now supported. The command is
"*Load favourite number NN*" where NN should be a valid integer. If you
use a value that's higher than the number of favourites defined, Alexa
will barf at you. NN is not zero-based so your first favourite is
numbered one and not zero.

The full command is e.g. "Alexa, ask Media Server to load favourite
number 5 on the bedroom player" or "Alexa, load favourite number 6 using
Media Server" to target your assumed player.

This experiment/tryout temporarily hijacks the play-playlist command, so
if you have a .m3u playlist file actually called "favourite number NN"
it will play that instead. But you don't, right? At the next formal
certification submission, a dedicated command will be defined so this
will then not happen.

You will need a (trial) subscription to use it.

Feedback is welcomed.

There was a fix for mp3 memory corruption at version 1.9.0-1105 which
used to crash squeezelite with mp3 streams.

Adding *-e mad* to the squeezelite command line was a way to avoid the

What version of picoreplayer and squeezelite are you running?

should still be able to enter text - it just appears as if you cannot.
Already fixed in git/master for 1.1.0

Nothing at all. The cursor changes when you hover over it but it does
nothing when clicked.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 2.8.x - Spotify Connect for your Squeezebox

2019-10-10 Thread Michael Herger

What can cause this phenomenon?

Unfortunately this happens every now and then, and I haven't been able
to fix it (yet).

2019-10-10 Thread ascomm74

One issue. Sometimes Spotty stops playing when the song ends and the
next is due to start. Next song starts immediately when "Next" is
clicked, though. Nothing is logged to server.log (log level info).
What can cause this phenomenon?

Yes, if I try to play this, squeezelite crashes after a few minutes.

It's not a big issue but the Radio Search no longer works. I's OK on the
default skin.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X

2019-10-10 Thread Stan Pulsar

Thanks for the suggestions.

Chrome is not my main browser (although installed, but without any
further extension than the few default "Google docs" ones)
Firefox is, but I have no such "multimedia" extension.

SL-X log after startup says :

Code:

09:06:42.492

  Start InitProgram

  09:06:42.497 Read Settings From Registry
  09:06:42.513 SyncMemo called.
  09:06:42.514 Init Tray Menu
  09:06:42.514 Registering MediaKeys
  09:06:42.601 ConnectAll Called
09:06:42.609 Broadcast Discovery packet 'e' with
'eNAME'#0'JSON'#0'CLIP'#0'VERS'#0 to [192.168.0.255]
  09:06:42.666 Server Discovery Complete: JOES-CLOUD,V-RADIO [59ms]
  09:06:42.668 SyncMemo called.
  09:06:42.668 Save Settings To Registry

SL-X is not part of the possible choices for the default music app.
(maybe it would be if I chose "open with..." from a right click on an
audio file, but anyway this is not a setting I want)
