This is so strange. There's absolutely no difference in my reporting
player details during discovery for various types of players. Every
device has a friendlyName and an endpointId that are derived from the
'players ?' response from your LMS. The endpointId includes the MAC
address of the player so that when you request Alexa to control a
player, the incoming directive from Amazon containing the endpointId
allows me to deduce which player to control (in the jsonrpc interface,
players are identified by MAC address). For some reason, Amazon does not
like the presence of your player's MAC addresses showing *anywhere* in
the discovery response. There's no logical explanation for this and also
no feedback as to why the response is ignored. In a smart home skill, a
directive comes in to the skill, the skills responds to it and that's it
- there's no error response returned if the skill response is rejected.
The recent small change I made to the code adds a hash to the endpointId
that's unique to your account, just in case there was an endpointId
collision due to a MAC address collision with another user of the skill.
That means that the MAC address should no longer be an issue.

Do you have any other smart home skills in use? There's a 300 device
limit per Amazon account - you're hardly hitting that are you?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP / SugarCube settings suggestions?

2020-01-27 Thread Matt Drown

Thanks for the update to the plugin, and thanks for the settings
suggestion. I've tuned up the "mix style" (similar to artist) to see if
that changes things a bit. I have a large collection, but with 1/3 to
1/2 being compilations of tracks, and I wonder if that causes some
issues with the mixing. Will see how that impacts the mixes, I
previously had that set to 0 as I wasn't concerned about track to track
being "like the artist".

I've now got it set to MixStyle=150, and MixVariety=3, and MixBy=Song.
I had dynamic mode, and most everything else disabled, or off.

Anyone else have a "favorite" way to set musicip mixes?

Next step, fixing the UI to change the Next/Previous track to the
"proper" images, |< and >|, not << >>.

There's still no progress on the sporadic during

rather persistent when it rears its ugly head. From @Ludopi's feedback,
the Amazon redirect URL visible in a browser but not in the Alexa app is
giving the failure reason as

Any gurus on here any ideas if that's something related to the Amazon

Thx very very much!

Unfortunately the approach is too geeky for me :-) Have found the
location on Max2Play (\etc\squeezeboxserver), have followed the steps
above and doesn't seem to work yet.

Have plenty of questions linked to this custom file: how can I check if
the file is being taken into account? Would I see it via the "more info"
e.g. less kbps? Or I need to check in logs

I understand SOX still lossless? But would like to make sure I get the
stream untouched for my Transporter. Is it possible to assign this to a
player only e.g. a Boom?

When I go to player setting in the web gui and I go to don't stop the
music, I have the option to select musicIP, Lastmix, Random xxx and all
the other opportunities of online services, but not a way to switch on

That would be SugarCube's task. I can certainly help if there are questions.

As you are on a Linux OS, I will recommend using notepad++ and use these
settings, as recommended from Paul. I had some strange issues because I
used notepad in windows to create the file.

Here what Paul wrote to me:

"Try editing with Notepad++ (download it) not notepad.
Then check the setting for Line Endings for the file and set it to Unix
(not Windows) and the format to be ANSI/ASCII not Utf-8 and not with a
BOM (will be clear from the menus)."

Then place the file in the folder. That should work.

I think internet live streams are safe but the because formats may
change - LMS will be needed to transcode especially if MP3 stream are
stopped as indicated a few years ago.

FM is still probably highest quality but remember FM's long promised
shutdown was only cancelled in 2018. However FM & MP3 may be the same -
technically old but shutdown is politically toxic because of legacy
devices.

But you need to manually check. Material already queries the server for
plugin updates, and turns the top-right menu icon in to a green arrow
when there are updates. This update message, AFAIK, should also indicate
if there are server updates. So, for 1.4.0, I'll also turn this arow
green if a server update is available - and state this in the
information dialog.

Yes, but you can already check if there's an update available from
within Material, which if you follow the links takes you to the Default
skin.

Currently Material only shows when plugin updates are available. I'll
update the code for 1.4.0 to show when server updates are available.
However, you will not be able to update the server from within Material.
