Clone the repo, and copy the 'MaterialSkin' folder to your LMS.

On unixy systems a symlink should do, too.

Completely agree about the default skin being unusable on a phone. For
phone use, I use Squeezer - much more responsive (IMHO) than a browser
solution.

Not clear what that update is. OS Update could change changed output
devices - if it is a big version change to Buster - you may now have
Pulseaudio.

What does squeezelite -l (lower case letter L) show for available
devices.

Please try to upgrade Squeezelite to a 1.9.8 in case it is a bug which
has already been fixed.

LMS Logitech Media Server Version: 8.1.1 - 1610364019 @ Thu Jan 14

Squeezelite v1.8

Both squeezelite and LMS are running on Raspbian 10.7, on rpi3 and rpi2
respectively.

I'm trying to play mp3 files stored locally on the LMS server. BBC
Sounds also fails.

I don't use -C

I've tried downgrading to LMS 8.1.0 to no benefit. I also upgraded all
the packages on the raspbian installation so I can only guess that that
broke something!

What could have changed ?

Between playing tracks did it suddenly stop ? or was there a gap in
usage between workg and not working when something happened (e.g. OS
update)

>From log - it looks like squeezelite is v1.8.* - update to latest (e.g.

edit:

It looks like no output device specific on command line. Don't use
default output device as that can change "randomly" - always specify the
output device.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] ARD Audiothek

2021-02-06 Thread MichaelPr

Hello together,

Inspired by thread in the German forum:
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?113475-ARD-Audiothek

I took a look at the ARD Audiothek. It seems to be it's interesting to
have a deeper look into it (of course mainly for German speaking people
;-) ). Via Andorid (Material Skin / Squeezer) I did not manage to listen
to audio files e.g .:
https://audiothek.ardmediathek.de/items/84971768

So I started looking at a plug-in. Unfortunately I don't have the time
to go on - so my question: How do I get the easiest way to listen to
audio files from the ARD Audiothek on Android? Or maybe someone already
has a plug-in?

Best regards
Michael

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Ratings Light

Ah, yes, you're right. KidsPlay offers only JVC remote buttons and
Radio/Boom hw buttons. The approach taken in KidsPlay for the latter
didn't work for me.

I have got the Boom buttons working, though. There's a ButtonRatings
v0.2 now. I'll have to go find my SB Radio in the basement sometimes.

I think adding executing CLI commands shouldn't be too much of a
trouble. What would be the API to call? Is there something like
$client->fireCliCommandString()? I'll have a look.

KidsPlay also lets you run system commands on the server. I'm not sure I
like that.

Because you said it does not happen with a long-long delay, just a
shorter one. The 250ms controls for how *long* the clicks on 'Music

of browse-page.js and change 250 to a higher number. This is the number

I thought KidsPlay only supported JVC IR remotes. So what's more likely:
that KidsPlay adds support for Logitech IR remote buttons or that your
plugin gets support for executing custom cli commands? Guess I'll see.

Many plugins like Material or Ratings Light split this: *get* ratings
-directly- from LMS ($track->rating) and use -other plugins- like
TrackStat or Ratings Light to *set* ratings. Haven't had a chance to
look at your code, so not quite sure what 'toggle' does. But otherwise,
you're correct, you can also have Ratings Light perform these actions
using the -setrating- or -setratingpercent- cli command. So what I'm
saying is, if you want to keep it simple and easy, you could offer all
of your predefined 'actions' but use cli commands (TS, RL) and save
yourself the trouble/time of implementing the same functions in your
plugin.

I certainly am having issues and never could get the Chromecast Bridge
to work reliably. I had the same problems as you about 'getting stuck'
on tracks and not advancing. I was never able to reproduce it, as it
seemed totally random.

So I for one appreciate your efforts on this!

2021-02-06 Thread pete105

pete105 wrote:
> No problem, I'll get this set up and report back. Thanks Philippe.

A quick update on this Philippe. I decided to order a new memory card
for my Pi to test this set up, as I currently use PiCorePlayer on the
existing card, and wanted to preserve the configuration. In the
meantime, I linked a service crash event to me using an Nvidia Shield TV
Pro to cast some content from my phone. I wasn't using LMS or playing
any music at the time, and the Shield was unticked in the configuration
file. Despite this, I noted that in the log file that the bridge service
had crashed and the player had changed in LMS.

Following this, I tried to delete the Shield and a Chromecast with
Google TV I have on the network from the XML file, but they kept
repopulating (by design, presumably). Following this I stopped the
bridge, turned off the XML autosave option and ensured that both of
these devices were removed again.

Since then, I haven't had any issues. Occasionally I have an issue where
playback gets "stuck" at the end of a track and I have to manually
advance it to the next track, but the service doesn't crash. I will try
and obtain a log file the next time this happens.

I'm still happy to complete the test process you suggested, but if no
one else is having the issue then it may not be worth investing any more
time in doing this, as I don't want to cast music to the Shield. Let me
know if you still want me to try this to help debugging the plugin.

Thanks,

Pete.

Hmm. I'll have too look into that more. So far the only rating related
functions I have/use is $track->rating() to read and
$track->rating($rating) to set the rating. OK, there's those "actions" I
offer to configure (rate(), inc(), dec(), toggle()), which to some
extent exist as CLI functions in Ratings Light, too.

Most of the code in my Plugin is for handling the buttons and the web
interface. Unfortunately I didn't find a good way to make use of the
existing IR handling code. (I certainly don't want to edit button.map
files manually...)

Oh, I thought these should work. But I see now (in KidsPlay) that there
is a separate handler that needs to be monkey patched to support that.
I'll have a look. (Main problem: Boom is in the kitchen, dev station and
terminal/log output isn't.. :-)

For Vortexbox 2.4 onward your hardware has to be 64bit. If you are
successfully running VB2.4 or higher you can (manually) upgrade LMS
right up to the latest 8.2.x version but since the CD ripper no longer

Thank you! That's worked!
I notice this option wasn't available in 2.0.0, so I'm glad it's been
added.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezelite on rPi 3 suddenly not working

2021-02-06 Thread ehjones

Hi all,

Today I'm suddenly having problems with squeezelite running on a rPi3.
Everything looks right, but there's no audio output. If it's at all
relevant, I've enabled the visualisation output (-v) and there's no PCM
data being output either (the file where the PCM data is output to is
being created, but its all zero). Starting squeezelite manually with -d
all=info gives the following: https://pastebin.com/XEJRnT2M

Audio works when playing a video with omxplayer and the volume in
alsamixer appears to be turned up. It was working last night. I've have
this morning just upgraded LMS but I can't say for certain this is the
cause (I didn't play anything via squeezelite immediately prior).

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this further, please? Thank you!

Very nice. Just a suggestion: maybe your plugin could become some kind
of gateway plugin for linking remote control buttons to all kinds of
actions/commands instead of just rating.
You could make the cli commands for some plugins you want to support
part of your plugin code. And for everything else you'd offer an -option
to let users enter their own cli command- they want to map to certain
buttons. Makes for a very versatile gateway plugin imho.

About rating: instead of implementing your own rating function you could
do it like Material: check if Trackstat or Ratings Light is
installed/enabled and then have the cli rating commands of one of those
plugins do the actual rating. Just a thought.

And then when you run out of ideas and have some time to kill, you add
support for Boom and Radio preset buttons. So I can switch from KidsPlay
to your plugin. :-)

Ok. I think I understand you are telling me.

But one question here, it seems that when using "standard" CD flacs, the
ipad transcodes to 48Khz when using the ipad standard headphones output.
I don't know why. If I use the lightning DAC, tries to use the original
sampling

Well it'd be good for you to checkout the git version and confirm. (How
to do this has been mentioned multiple time in this thread). If you

It does. More or less. That's why what you are seeing is confusing me a
bit.
Have you enabled the Equalizer for iPeng Playback?

Here's the thing: you can't really completely passthrough on iOS, you
don't really have full access to the USB driver.
So you have to play audio through the system audio queue.
iPeng does configure this to the bitrate it's getting, though, and is
sending the PCM audio data as is.

This generally works fine as long as the data is really PCM.
If it's not PCM, but just using PCM as a container while sending
something else, there can be issues as soon as some part of your system
decides that it needs transcoding/bitrate changes. Then your data is no
longer correct.

In your case it looks indeed like iOS for some reason thinks it needs to
transcode the audio data to 44.1/16 or something.

Are you sure the DAC worked with HighRes material on that same iPad?
If yes, please really check the equalizer settings. The equalizer should
not have an effect on the sample rate/word size but you never know.

I don't have MQA tracks in my collection either. I downloaded some
tracks from here: http://www.2l.no/hires/

But I was doing tests with the Dragonfly. It seems when playing a MQA,
the Dragonfly changes to purple colour (firmware 1.06 up). I tested it
but nothing happened.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin

2021-02-06 Thread cpd73

Bug-fix release, changes:

- Delay activating back-button on long press, to prevent search being
  activated.
- Increase gap between volume controls and 'Close' button in volume
  dialog.
- Increase gap between volume buttons and slider.
- Prevent volume jumps from <= 70% to >= 90% by clicking on slider.
- Fix player refresh loop in manage players dialog.
- Fix blank queue when item has 'artist_ids' entry.
- Check for 'artist_ids' being undefined (which it is for streaming)
  when fetching artist biographies.
- Make desktop layout's bottom now-playing bar metrics consistent
with and without stop button being shown.

The slider will be disabled if you have fixed volume *and* Material is
configured to "Support fixed volume" in its -server side- settings (see
Material Skin under Plugins in LMS's Settings, 'Server Settings' if
access via Material)
