Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC streams won't start
snoogly;298545 Wrote: OK. Installed mplayer into /usr/local/bin , and now everything works OK! It's a bit confusing, as the latest mplayer for OS X is an application, rather than an installation package, so it offers no easy way to put mplayer into /usr/local/bin. I copied over an mplayer file from another computer, as I couldn't find it in the Package contents of MPlayer OSX application. I really don't know what changed in my system to knock mplayer out of the bin folder in the first place. Thanks bpa for helping me resolve this. Just to say, thanks to this thread and this particular post - I've now got Alien BBC working after several months (not that I tried to get it working very often) on my Mac mini. Marvellous - I love Alien BBC. -- Braidy Braidy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9818 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=47183 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC and Mac instructions
Can I have another go at getting Alien to work, bpa? The story so far. It was working - on one channel - tried to fix that with your help and now I have no Alien. I've just tried to go back to what I had before but I'm further away than ever. I'm on: Mac 1.42 PPC G4 10.4.11 O/S Latest Squeezecenter (updated this morning) Latest Alien (downloaded this morning) I've tried all the mplayer versions I can find 1.0rc1 and 2 and either let them install themselves or drilled them down to put MPLAYER in US/LOCAL/BIN with Lame I WAS getting the streams to play for about 8 seconds but they had no sound and went back to 0. Now I'm getting a PROBLEM: CAN'T CONNECT TO SERVER Can you help? My Squeezebox is only about 60% of it's wonderfulness without Alien. -- Braidy Braidy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9818 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24480 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC and Mac instructions
Thank you. 1. Yes, I can see all BBC menus including Listen Again 2. RTSP entries were disabled and are now enabled but still won't connect 3. I've opened Terminal and dragged mplayer into it. How do I check a live BBC stream? 4. The very last mplayer I've tried is osx_1.0rc1.dmg. I double clicked my way through it and it installed itself into Applications -- Braidy Braidy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9818 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24480 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC on OSX users - need help to prove/disprove problem
Trust me to be the kid in the class who can't do it right. I downloaded from that new mplayer link and it seemed to find its way automatically into local/usr/bin (joining my lame file). Checking other radio streams and it all works and in stereo. ALIEN BBC though now won't connect. Watching the right hand pane in SC7 the timer goes to about 8 seconds and then back to 0 without connecting. I've looked for a option to lengthen the time that it tries to connect - I remember one in 6.5 - but can't find one. BBC works through Staff Picks and Adam and Joe on BBC6 is in glorious stereo. Any ideas why Alien is not now happy? Thanks for finding the new mplayer. -- Braidy Braidy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9818 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43214 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC on OSX users - need help to prove/disprove problem
Thanks, I did find it in the end but didn't make any difference. The SB3 says 'NOW PLAYING' and then 'CONNECTING' and keeps repeating this without any sound. I've tried deleting the Alien BBC plug in, re-installing it and stopping/starting Slimserver. -- Braidy Braidy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9818 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43214 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC and Mac instructions
I'm having problems getting Alien BBC working with Slimserver 6.5 and OS 10.3. I've followed the instructions regarding installation of mplayer and lame at the beginning of this thread and the almost identical instructions at the Alien site (x2systems.com/AlienBBC/installation) I've tried downloading LAME from the Blacktree site and also the thalictrum.com site. (The iTunes-lame download I really didn't know what to do with so I'm not sure now whether that is now loaded or not. But I've also tried the the LAME 3.97 package both before and after trying that one.) Alien appears on the Squeezebox and tries to connect but then stops. I've increased the time that it tries to get a radio stream. I've followed the instructions a few times now without success and I'm certain I've been downloading the correct files for my system. Are there any easy things to check? I love this plugin and am desperate to get it working. -- Braidy Braidy's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9818 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=24480 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
