Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XSqueeze - XBMC and Squeezebox, together at last!

2012-02-18 Thread Henry66

I would like to ask some questions here, if you don't mind, before
drowning in the xbmc forums where there is TMI for a newbie.

Will this allow me to have the client (now playing) display on my
TV?
Is there any xbmc hardware that connects to the TV/receiver via HDMI?
If so, can the Squeeze-served music go over the same HDMI?
And will it work with multi-channel FLAC files?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.76 Windows SqueezeboxClient

Is it possible to start SqueezeSlave automatically when Moose starts
(and make it the default player)?

I installed Moose on my wife's laptop and I don't want to have to
explain to her that she must select Start SqueezeSlave before she can
listen to music. For her, Moose *is* the player.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Newb MIP/Sugarcube user needs answer to basic questions and hints

2011-11-19 Thread Henry66

I got MIP set up in headless server mode and now it is running like a
bat out of hell (comparatively speaking). Blew through 100 tracks in
two hours. Go figure.

My question now is, how do MIP GUI and headless server interact?
In the GUI I had disabled some tracks but it looks like the server has
gone ahead and analyzed them anyway?

I have a bunch of tracks that are AC-3 or DTS encoded. I doubt that MIP
knows this so it will be analyzing white noise if it tries to do it
locally. If it matches from the server(s) then fine, but how can I
tell?

Also tried SugarCube for the first time. Very nice!

Can I get the GUI to read this DB and then select Archive to write
the fingerprints into the tags?

I paid for SugarCube today. So much more than the basic MIP
integration, totally worth it.

Today I also paid for a lifetime license for Erland's plugins. I am
drinking more and more of the SqueezeBox koolaid. :-)

I still don't know where the headless server stores the fingerprints.
After it had analyzed all my tracks I fired up the GUI, with the
headless service still running. Then I selected all the tracks (all
10491 of them) in the GUI and right-clicked and selected Archive.
Took just a few minutes and now all my tracks are fully fingerprinted
and tagged.

I disabled the firewall on the server and that allowed all the client

So now I just need to figure out which firewall rule(s) to change to
make it work. Any ideas?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announcement: Whitebear Media Server (UPnP/DLNA) v2.0 released !!

2011-05-18 Thread Henry66

I installed this as a service on Windows 7 64-bit.
I can see the by Whitebear library from WMP on the same machine.

However, I am unable to see it from other PCs on the local net.
All PCs are running Windows 7 (two 64-bit and two 32-bit).

When I run Foobar2000 (an application, not a service) on the same
machine as Whitebear/SBS, then all the other PCs can see the Foobar2000
library.

Not sure where/how to start trouble-shooting?

OK, so the MusicIP service is not running. When I click Start it tells

Maybe it does not work with Windows 7 64-bit?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP: newbie questions

2010-12-11 Thread Henry66

I was blind, and now I see. :-)

And that is after only two mixes. Looking forward to re-enjoying my
music.
I like the way it snuck in a Beethoven piece together with some Roxette
and stuff. Thank the gods for ReplayGain, too.

I just ripped a new CD (I use dbPowerAmp). I noticed that MIP saw the
tracks immediately, but did not seem to automatically analyze them. Or
did I not wait long enough?

So I am reading on the SpiceFly site what SugarCube does. Should I jump
in now? Or spend a few days listening to mixes first, to get accustomed
to the whole new set of tools and settings?
