Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Is Softqueeze still the best PC based player to use?

2008-09-28 Thread Mark Ward

Thanks for the replies,

SqueezeSlave doesn't sound right for me so I think I'll wait for the
7.3 release version.

Thanks,

Mark.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Is Softqueeze still the best PC based player to use?

2008-09-28 Thread Mark Ward

I'm just wondering whether there is a better solution to playing on the
PC (or Mac) than Softsqueeze?

I never got around to installing and and before I do I thought I'd see
whether there are any better alternatives?

Thanks,

Mark.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC:- I can now get Radio5Live Live!

2008-09-28 Thread Mark Ward

Same URL!Damn I wish I knew that earlier.

Still, with my way I can customise/re-arrange the Menus in AlienBBC to
put it in with my other Radio Stations I guess.

But thanks for that.

Mark.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC:- I can now get Radio5Live Live!

2008-09-28 Thread Mark Ward

OK, I'll say at the outset that I'm in the UK so I should be able to get
this station anyway but it just wouldn't stream in Squeezecentre

I'm using * Squeezecenter 7.2 - 22900 and AlienBBC plugin
v2.2b1-7.1_7.2*

Using the "Internet Radio-AlienBBC-BBC iPlayer Radio-Live Streams" path
I can now stream just about all but no Radio 5 Live (Which displays as
Radio 5 Live Live in the Listings).

The URL is currently set as:-
http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/live/surestream.ram and will play
correctly on my PC, launching MediaPlayer to play the stream.

I've solved this by adding a different url I found in the source code
of the BBC5Live streaming page. The Windows media stream as opposed to
the RealAudio stream.

_*How_to_get_BBC5Live_in_AlienBBC*_

In Squeezecenter:-

Click *Settings*
Choose the *Plugins* Tab
Click *Settings* next to the AlienBBC Plugin Listing (v2.2b1-7.1_7.2 in
my case)
Click *Edit Menu*
Scroll to the Bottom
Click *New Entry*
Name: *R5Live* (or Whatever you want to call it)
URL: *http://bbc.co.uk/fivelive/live/live.asx*
Click *Save*
Then *Apply*

Worked for me, I hope this helps someone else.

Mark.

No firewall issue then... That TuneIn worked fine, Still no streaming
from the AlienBBC plugin listed stations though.

Thanks for all this help,

Mark.

Live streams aren't working either. "ERROR, NO ITEMS FOUND IN
PLAYLIST" and a scrolling URL. I'll take a good look at it tomorrow to
see if I can work out what's up. Could it be firewall related?

Thanks,

Mark.

The information in the status page shows that my install is using the
"SqueezeCenter" folder

I've checked and AlienBBC plugin is in
SqueezeCentre\server\Plugins\Alien
but the mplayer.exe is in
SqueezeCentre\[b]server\[b]Bin\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread

I'm assuming that is the correct place you meant?

I'm running Vista

Good idea, I'll try that.

I also have an iMac, would there be any benefit running from that
instead of Vista?

After another install & reboot (didn't appear before rebooting PC)
AlienBBC is now listed in my Settings/Plugins and also lists on my
Squeezebox3.

Unfortunately it won't connect to the streams, but that's something I'm
going to tweak with before asking for any more help.

Thanks for the help everyone,

Mark.

Could you post what the correct install directory should be please?

I've just installed 7.2 on Vista and in "C:\Program Files (x86)" I now
have both a "SqueezeCentre" and a "SlimServer" Folder.

Where should I direct the installer to send the files?

Thanks,

Mark.
