Thanks for the tip. I changed over to a USB Ethernet adapter for my
Lenovo laptop and it has fixed the issue. Thanks a lot. This has driven
me crazy. However the chipset is likely different as the old laptop is
about 7 years old whereas the new one is less than a year so chances
that it's software related (e.g. Windows, others etc.) is high.

Anyway hope this helps others facing the same issues

More info on the above. There seems to be an issue with Squeezelite-X on
Ethernet. I know this sounds strange but here's what I've done.

- Main laptop - Ethernet: Squeezelite-X starts but behaves weirdly
(see attached log) - Get the connection reset by peer errors and
sometimes the client is able to reconnect, sometimes now. If not it
changes to a default player and stops playing
- Same (main laptop) - Wifi: Changed the connection to Wifi and
  Squeezelite-X runs without any issues
- Main laptop - Ethernet: Issues appear again
- So I went ahead and replaced my Ethernet switch (it's 10 years
old). Main laptop on Ethernet has the same issues as in point 1
- Change back to Wifi - no issues
- Second laptop - Ethernet (new switch): Issues
- Second laptop - Wifi: Ok

I like Squeezelite-X but use Ethernet due to work requirements. While
one could argue that Squeezelite-X works I wonder what happened to this
connection once on Ethernet

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2021-12-19 Thread backball

I'm trying to start from ground zero and understand the functionality of
the Denon AVP/AVR plug-in (using v4.3.2) and searching the forum didn't
show anything obvious.

Here's my setup:
* 1x Squeezebox Receiver (A) connected to digital in (RCA) on a 4 zone
Control4 matrix amp
* 1x Squeezebox Receiver (B) connected to digital in (optical) on a
Denon AVR-1713
* Denon AVR-1713 on the network via Ethernet
* LMS 8.2.1 (running on Daphile)
* Squeezer on Android to control the players
* Enabled the Denon plug in on the AVR-1713 only and gave the AVR-1713 a
static IP address as per the setup instructions

I would like to synchronize receiver A onto the AVR-1713 but
synchronization doesn't appear to work. Say I play an audio source on
receiver A and want to play on receiver B via synchronization, the track
on receiver A doesn't play on receiver B. Playing an audio source
directly on receiver B works fine. Given the AVR-1713 appears as a
player in Squeezer I would have thought I can synchronize it.

Should I be able to sync any music playing on receiver A to the Denon
Receiver (or vice versa for that matter)? If yes, what do you think
could be wrong?

Confirm the issue is with my infrastructure. Have tried on an old Win10
laptop and it just works. So the good news is the code is good. The bad
news is it doesn't work properly on my system :)

My system is a brand new Lenovo laptop connected via docking station to
two Dell monitors (DisplayPort) and webcam. Audio from the 3.5mm jack on
the monitor to a set of external speakers. The display does blink at
times for a fraction, cutting both video and sound (probably driver). I
know all this shouldn't make a difference as the app runs on the laptop
itself.

Will continue looking for options as I like the app and need access to
my LMS...

I have recently found this great app for my LMS setup throughout the
house. Use it mainly for my home office.

One thing I noticed is a sudden stop of music playback and the display
of an error message (see below) that a player name already exists. I let
it time out, music playback resumes and everything works as expected.

Any idea why this would happen? I run Win10 Pro on a new laptop

Firstly this is an absolutely great app @rgdawson especially with the
material skin. Been a Squeezebox user for the longest time so it's great
to see this legacy continues. Given I do lots of work from my home
office it's important to have the whole selection at my fingertips.

I have the very same setup as @TurnipMan so will have to try the Primary
Sound Driver. However if I understand this correctly this maintains
audio output but will switch it to the built in speakers if the monitor
switches off and vice versa if the monitor comes back. Will do some
testing on this

When creating the VM, I created a 32GB disk (seen in the screenshot).
The installation created two ext4 partitions? - sda1 (DaphileBoot - 1GB)
and sda2 (DaphileData - 7.6GB). No idea why DaphileData was 7.6GB and
not the balance of the 32GB disk. So if I just expand the disk to 64GB
this would keep DaphileData still at 7.6GB, right?

I'm using Daphile for a while as I'm running my server in a virtual

noticed that sda2 is full. I have enough disk space and would like to
extend this partition. I know this is more or a Linux question than an
LMS question but would appreciate any pointers on how to do this.

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.9.0 - now with experimental Spotify Connect support!

2017-10-13 Thread backball

Well I'm lost.

Used the official Spotify plug-in for years on my VB2.2 (LMS 7.8)
system. When they pulled the plug on this earlier in the year I went to
Spotty as I've read only good things about it and given we listen to
Spotify really a lot I needed a migration path.

I kept having these buffering problems. First track plays without a
problem then from the second track onwards it plays for say 5-7 sec and
then buffers for 3-4 before doing it all over again.

Was told Spotty needed VB2.3+ so I decided to upgrade to VB2.4 (Dell
OptiPlex 790 with i5 processor, 4GB RAM). Going to the latest Spotty
plug-in 1.9.4 with a brand new VB the exact same thing happens again;
i.e. above buffering. I can stream from the VB box perfect Internet
radio at any quality but just can't get Spotty to do the same. Could
Spotty require much more bandwidth than the previous plug-ins? I'm on an
ADSL connection giving me about 5MB/s but as said Internet radio, even
KODI works ok.

Any ideas? Thanks

Haha. 10 years is old in this world, right? The server is based on the

give my untrained eye any more info. Maybe I should just try an upgrade

So I really need an LMS instance on a 64-bit system as my ageing server

Yep, I'm running VortexBox 2.2 and have for a while as my server is
based on a 32-bit chip set which stops me from going to VortexBox 2.4.
Since Spotty uses i686 instructions I may have to create a new LMS
instance on another system - as suggested in a related post to #1183 -
and run Spotty from there :(

The CPU load is less than 5% but the memory utilisation is at an average
of 91% leaving less than 100MB of available RAM which may be an issue

Ok, I'll verify that. Deleting a plugin is as simple as removing the
file from the file system or can we do this from the LMS UI?

Yes it does and I can play music through that. Just doesn't appear on
the Spotify clients on Windows, iOS or Android devices.

I installed the plugin via the additional repositories section in the
LMS plugin menu and pointed to http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins. Found
the plug in, enabled it but the smart authorisation didn't work so I
entered the credentials of my premium account; Apply | Close and restart
LMS.

The plugin shows up under active in LMS but I don't see it in any
Spotify client. What's interesting is when I look at Settings | Advanced
| Spotty under the Spotty helper app I get the following
Spotty/Bin/i386-linux/spotty (v0.6.1). Why does it say
0.6.1? In the LMS plugins list is says Spotty v1.2.1 so I'm puzzled to
see this unless this is not related at all. I'm using LMS 7.8.0.

It feels like Spotty doesn't broadcast its presence to the network. Any
pointers?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Integration with Control4 Home Automation

2009-12-26 Thread backball

We're in the design phase of our next house and home automation is part
of the agenda.

Given I'm a huge fan of Squeezebox (Duet and one classic and possibly
growing) I was hoping there is some integration with Control4 - our home
automation system of choice.

I saw one thread on these forums back in 2005 and was wondering whether
there has been some developments in the meantime. If yes, what's
possible?

Thanks
