[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Announce: SlimScrobbler beta testers needed

2006-02-21 Thread db122

Malcolm,

I follow the SlimServer svn trunk and I just updated SlimScrobbler from
the CVS repository. For the first time in a long time my played tracks
are submitted to the last.fm page! Previously I could get last.fm
stream submissions to work but not local tracks.

Thanks for the updated code -- I have nothing but success to report.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: Announce: SlimScrobbler beta testers needed

2006-02-21 Thread db122

It doesn't seem to be related to SlimScrobbler -- I get the same
behavior w/last.fm plugin after removing the updated SlimScrobbler. I
suspect a change was made in 6.5trunk over the past day or so that
broke last.fm.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)

2012-01-06 Thread db122

I'm debugging some issues reported to me that Orange Squeeze has with
this (fantastic!) plugin and I've run into a bit of a stumper.
Basically, I'm finding that when responding to json or CLI requests for
subitems, the plugin seems to be ignoring the complete item_id filter.
For example:

This CLI request:
00:04:20:16:0f:2d spotify items 0 100 item_id:1.3

Actually returns the data that I would expect to be returned for this:
00:04:20:16:0f:2d spotify items 0 100 item_id:1.0

Trying to navigate down any other paths is an even more abject failure,
with no results being returned for this:

00:04:20:16:0f:2d spotify items 0 100 item_id:2.0

Apparently, none of the other apps have this problem so I suspect that
maybe Orange Squeeze is just one of the few apps still using json-rpc.
The web interface works fine and I can confirm that, at least in the
case of iPeng, the queries being routed through cometd seem to be
working OK as well.

In the longer term I'm sure a switch to using the comet-based protocol
will be warranted, but I'm hoping to fix this issue for a maintenance
release without making such a drastic change.

Any ideas?

Hostname: cedar
IP: 192.168.0.2

Perl Version: 5.10.1 - i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)
Total Players Recognized: 3

But I just tried it on my OS X build (7.7.1 also) and the same thing
happens.

In fact, I just tried browsing through the web interface and the same
exact thing is happening so I think it's an intermittent problem
overall and not just CLI-specific. This is on OS X and Linux and I've
seen CLI, JSON-RPC and web site failures. The only one I've been using
is the "What's New" and when it fails it always pulls up the first item
of the What's New list instead of whatever was clicked.

Presumably there is some caching going on in the plugin, because I
don't see calls to Spotify on every click. Can I add some
instrumentation to the cache layer to see if maybe we're getting some
sort of key collision? I'm not super fluent in Perl but I do OK -- I'd
certainly like to get to the bottom of this.

Thanks for your continued help on this

Heh, OK so it seems like this actually ONLY affects the "What's New"
list. Everything else seems to work fine! Looked through the Plugin
code and I don't see anything terribly unique about What's New but I
don't really know what to look for.

I did notice this:

Plugin.pm:373:

Code:

  # update recent data
  if ($uri =~ /^spotify:aritst/) {
  Plugins::Spotify::Recent->updateRecentArtists($json->{'artist'},
$json->{'artisturi'});

Is that "aritst" a typo? Or is it a hack to work with weird inbound
data?

I've added the option to mute/pause just the current player on phone
call in the soon-to-be-released 2.2.0-beta5. Maybe you will find it
useful.

Yes, after 2.2.0 comes out of beta work will go towards that version and
that includes the muzei code.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] ANN: Orange Squeeze 2.2.0 Rolling Out -- Support/Discussion Thread

2017-09-30 Thread db122

Hi, released Orange Squeeze 2.2.0 with notification support but it
hasn't rolled out to everyone yet (around 10%). 2.2.1 is due out very
soon with a couple bug fixes and will roll out to a wider audience.

Please use this thread for support questions or you can email me at

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] ANN: Orange Squeeze 2.2.0 Rolling Out -- Support/Discussion Thread

2017-09-30 Thread db122

There's a bug, fixed in 2.2.1, where the widget would show "No Players"
when the notification was not showing (along with a few in-between
cases).

Starting with 2.2.0, timely widget updates are tied to the presence of
the notification. If you swipe away the notification (or on Android 4.x,
hit the X button) then you are killing the server connection and the
widget will no longer updated immediately. It will be updated per a
typical Android widget update interval, 30 minutes. Not terribly useful
though.

The notification has a purpose. It serves to let you know that your
device has a background service running, and is actually 100% mandatory
in Android 8.0 anyways to prevent your service from being killed very
quickly. If you strongly dislike the notification, then on most modern
devices you can choose to hide notifications from specific apps.

FTR, tested here on Android 4.4, 5.1, 7.0 and 8.0.

Expect updates as frequently as one/day or between bursts of work as
infrequently as once/month.

I doubt it, but it's possible that it's related to the widget issue
somehow. If the widget is showing it means that it sees the player as
playing or paused. You'll get 2.2.1 later today either way.

I did get your email on this, but so far have failed to duplicate it in
any way on any of my devices. If you can do the verbose log thing, send
it my way, it may shed some light on what's going on.

The only reason the player should switch is if the current player is
actually removed from the player list sent by the server. To see if this
is happening you can enable the verbose logging (see the faq for more
details) and wait for the problem to happen. You can send the logs to me
or share them here, whichever you like.

Historical note:

The Orange Squeeze preview program came before the Google/Android Beta
program capabilities, and was then left in place even after Google added
beta testing in order to allow people to have both beta and non-beta
Orange Squeeze installed at the same time. In practice I shouldn't have
ever thought this was necessary, and now just for logistical purposes
the preview app is no longer available for download from any appstores.
I would recommend uninstalling any 'preview' versions of the app.

FTR, I just released the first 'beta' in several years with notification
controls support effectively backported from the older, unstable beta.
Please opt in if you are inclined, because I'd like to have plenty of
testers who enjoy receiving frequent updates.

https://www.orangebikelabs.com/products/orangesqueeze/beta/

Once this has stabilized I will mostly consider 2.x to be "stable" and
will focus on finishing the work I started on the old 2.5 beta. I know,
it's ridiculous and confusing but life intervened at just the wrong
moment for Orange Squeeze and I have some unfinished business that I
will deal with in 3.0!

Ben
