After more than a decade of squeeze life the endless frustrations with spotify could be the last straw. It works one day but not the next, it syncs one day and then it doesn't, etc, etc. I could never get google play to work with my LMS and so i switched to spotify and it's worked for the most part but life is too short to endlessly be troubleshooting this nonsense. erland- thanks for your thoughts and suggestions. I'm not happy with the options currently in the cloud but it seems that google play is the best of the bunch at the moment. i think my best option right now is to try to write the trackstat info into my files and then upload to google play. I looked through the thread on that process and sadly i'm still a bit lost. erland- I've been a huge fan of trackstat for a number of years and have amassed quite a wealth of musical statistical info. I'm preparing for the eventual demise of the squeezebox world by moving my libary to the cloud through google play. hey pippin- if the problem resides on the network side of things then I would think that I'd have issues with other apps that use wifi but i only have problems with ipeng. here's your response to me from may of this year when i first posted about this issue: Yep, it's on the iPeng side, I'm investigating it. pippin- have loved and used your ipeng app for quite some time but the bug that you acknowledged awhile ago is driving me insane. I can connect to my server with my iphone or ipad and select whatever i'd like in the menus. But if i return to ipeng a few minutes later there is no connection at all. in order to get ipeng to work i need to turn wifi on/off, reopen ipeng app and then wait for what seems like forever for ipeng to re-acknowledge the connection with my LMS server. i've been a long time user of ipeng and generally love it. Lately though i've encountered a bug that I believe is on the ipeng side of my server. I'm using LMS 7.7.2 osx 10.6.8 ipeng on multiple iphones (3s's and 4s's) and an ipad the problem is that after using the ipeng app, when i return to the app on any of my iphones the app remains locked in whatever state is was previously and doesn't update at all. The locked state also prevents me from making any adjustments or selections with the app. the only way to regain use of the app seems to be to turn wifi on the iphone off and back on and then restart the ipeng app. I've looked through my router settings and I haven't noticed anything new or changed that would prevent ipeng from working. erland- the main way i use dynamic playlist/sql playlist is to make playlists based on top rated songs from an album, artist or genre. Those options have made my music listening experience quite fantastic. so it'd be great to have that show up when i select an album in custom browse. i too can't use (triode's) spotify in ipeng. another problem has crept up with my use of this very cool plugin. when i try to execute a suspend to squeezenetwork command i get this in my console: 504 : uid 504 does not exist in the passwd file! ; TTY=unknown ; PWD=unknown ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/local/sbin/spc-sleep.sh since i'm not well versed in unix, i need to ask is this a problem in my sudoers file or a problem with my permissions in general? an update: I tried the manual route. so my musicip is running quite wonderfully. my mixes are consistently working as expected and my library is all as it should be. however, I have one little problem. My slimserver trackstat info doesn't update dynamically to my musicip library. In my custom scan settings I have musicip set to continuously update from slimserver trackstat info. I've discovered that I lose my dynamic playlist settings after a rescan of my music. I'm using Music Magic for my music library source. I wish it were that simple. yes, I'm referring to Erland's plugin. It seems that the current problems I'm having are with erland's dynamic playlist plugin (only the settings of it and not the playing of actual playlists) and the playlist manager plugin. I have no music library settings in my squeezecenter because I use MM and therefore there's nothing to set. I have a folder selected for saving playlists in that setting in squeezecenter. It seems weird that mm would have any effect on my dynamic playlist settings-i.e. which playlists show up under the dynamic playlist dialog in the web interface. yes, the do not repeat option is checked. I'm pretty sure that I have a large number of tracks that are three star or higher and that haven't been played in the last month. The added problem is that I'm also starting to get tracks added to the playlist that aren't tagged as alternative music tracks-i.e.-other genre tracks are being added to the playlist. a follow up erland- by reverting to dynamic playlist 2.4 and with trackstat 2.4 it seems that all is normal again. don't know what the source of the problem was. One request for trackstat: when I select play top rated songs from an album: I get a listing from highest rated to lowest rated. But in my thinking, top rated refers only to the highest rated and not the low rated at all. I can see all of the template playlists and i can step through the whole process of creating a customized playlist but after hitting save and play nothing happens. If i just select a pre-built/default playlist it plays fine. I think there's no error message on my squeezebox. erland- I was just checking my paths and I see that all of my trackstats got blown out when i upgraded to 7.2. So perhaps after I do a trackstat restore from my backup all will be well with sql. For some reason your installation is wiping out that plugins folder. this didn't occur with my installation of 7.1 from 7.02. [SlimDevices: Plugins] IR Blaster and Volume Control
For the life of me I can't figure out how to get access to volume control on my sb remote or itouch when i have the ir blaster plugin configured. In the settings for ir blaster it seems mandatory to set a fixed volume (20-100) and therefore that cancels any volume control on my remotes. michael- perhaps updating my OS to leaopard will also solve the problem I've been having with scanning (laid out in detail in a previous thread) i hadn't updated that thread because i had made no progress with isolating an offending plugin. I tried the latest build of the plugin (16) but no luck. it still lists nothing. That's been my amateur sleuthing answer as well-that the pausing of the music is primarily due to the server's processing of building the dynamic playlist in conjunction with building the album artwork, etc for the web interface. if you had ir blaster set up before the upgrade you should be able to just move your ir conf files to the new ir blaster folder inside of the plugins folder within squeezecenter and be up and running. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat Question
this has been bugging me for awhile. When i use the remote to dial in an artist, I can hold down the play button and i then have the option of going into custom browse or trackstat. If i go into trackstat I have all of the trackstat options but these options aren't connected back to the artist that I originally selected. The question then is: how do I select an artist on my remote and then select a trackstat playback option for just that artist (or genre, etc., etc.)? For example, I search out wilco in my library and then I'd like trackstat to make a playlist that only plays top rated wilco songs. hey erland- i don't mean to throw yet another wrench into the works, but you need to know that my duke drive partition has one quirk to it that I'm a bit confused by. When I look up the path of the drive it actually lists that partition as 'Duke 1'-even though the drive is simply named 'Duke' on my desktop. i also have a second symbolically linked folder in my main music folder and that symbolically linked drive partition operates like it should. That drives' partition name is 'Richards' and when I get its path the computer tells me it's path name is Richards and not 'Richards 1.' and all of the music files on that drive also bring up error messages in the trackstat log when trying to export the trackstat info to MusicIP Mixer anyway, as to my scanning setup. I've just recently gotten involved with MusicIP Mixer so I have the slimserver pointing to a music directory. that directory is: /Volumes/Callie/calliemusic and i don't have use music magic selected. so for a complete lay of the land... my main music folder: 'calliemusic' which resides on a drive partition called 'Callie' 1st symbolic link folder: 'duke_music symlink' and that is pointing to a music folder called 'Duke_music' on another drive partition called 'Duke' but which for some reason the computer sees as 'Duke 1' 2nd symbolic link folder: 'richards_music symlink' which points to a music folder called 'richards_music' on another drive partition called 'Richards' and so that you don't think I'm crazy, the thought process behind all of this: when i first set up my server and music library I thought it'd be good to split up my library onto two different drives so that if one drive crashed I'd still have the other half available to listen to until i rebuilt the first drive. of course, now that drives are so cheap, I have my entire library backed up to one large drive so that original thinking is somewhat irrelevant. and that leads me to the question: would it just be simpler (for this particular troubleshooting) for me to combine all of my music into one folder on one drive? a question for erland perhaps... I've set up my music ip mixer and I've the tried to export my trackstat info to the music mixer and it does work but it only exports the data from my main music folder. I have my music on multiple drives and so i have symbolic links in my main music folder that point to the rest of my music library.
