utgg - great patch, works a treat!! It's been said many times in this thread already, but a big thanks to the community for maintaining this plugin, especially Triode, bpa, utgg for dedicating so much effort in getting this working. We shouldn't underestimate the scale of this - we've now got the only fully working iPlayer implementation outside the official BBC apps!! Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)
Are the HLS streams for Listen Again actually up and running now? The reason I ask is the Pure internet radios have received a software update to support both live and Listen Again HLS streams. I'd sort of also assumed the iOS and android apps have been using them for some time now. Doesn't the iPlayer plugin use an XML feed supplied by the BBC to define the Listen Again content? If so would it be a case of replacing it with a new one that indexed the HLS streams? http://www.ulverston.myzen.co.uk/mini-itx/ mick_w's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6526 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Yeah, in my view £10 a year is way too expensive for a LMS plugin (obviously other users might have a different opinion). Just found out the licensing has changed I installed SugarCube just before Christmas and found out I had to pay a fee to get the version that works with 7.7, OK I thought, no problem, so I donated and got v.3.51 working. Noticed I was being prompted to upgrade to a new version, excellent I thought! only to find out I now have to pay another £10 per year to to get v.4.25 to work or hack around with the linux command line to reinstall v.3.51. Not very happy at all with this, I understand developers want some reward for their effort, but having to pay twice in 6 months is just too much... mick_w's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6526 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73988 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I really appreciate this plugin and it could eventually provide a great alternative to AlienBBC, having better quality streams and not having to install MPlayer are real advantages. But after reading the BBC blogs, I've got concerns that the BBC are planning to migrate to AAC rather than MP3. (Some posts indicate this will happen this year). If the BBC do move to AAC, is there any reason Logitech can't support AAC natively? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Can AlienBBC announce itself as BBC Radio?
I like the idea of renaming AlienBBC, so I thought I'd give this a go too... 1. I replaced the icon (.../Plugins/Alien/HTML/EN/plugins/Alien/html/images/alien.png) with a new BBC one: http://www.ulverston.myzen.co.uk/mini-itx/downloads/AlienBBC%20Modification/alien.png 2. Edited the string file (.../Plugins/Alien/string.txt) to read BBC Radio rather than Alien BBC on line 6 of the code. 3. Deleted the alienbbc.opml file from my playlist directory (a new .opml file is then recreated when SC is restarted) 4. As the current Alien beta2 is broken with regard to showing its icon, I had to replaced the install file (.../Plugins/Alien/install.xml) with the new one Triode posted: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=250831postcount=24 5. Restarted SqueezeCenter and everything looks good and works fine. Note - I did not have to edit the default.opml file as suggested by BPA in a previous post to get this working. I understand there is good reason why the plugin can't officially be called BBC Radio and use the official logo - copyright etc..., and for people outside the UK who use it for non-bbc stations it would make little sense either. Not sure if this is the right place for this, but here's my recent experiences on installing AlienBBC on a PPC Linkstation (LS1)... I haven't installed CVS so I'm using the tar balls available for download from the MPlayer site. I've installed the PPC essential Codecs (I appreciate these aern't essential for pre8) and compiled and installed Lame (again not sure if this is neaded). MPlayer1.0pre8 apeared to compile OK, but wouldn't start from the comand line when installed. (reported a problem with sharing libz.so.01 if I remmember correctly, and wouldn't start) Has anyone got pre8 to work on a PPC Linkstation? So I then compiled MPlayer1.0Pre7try2 and this worked fine. Installed AlienBBC 1.05 and all works fine. As mentioned above, the MPlayer(1.0pre7try2) processes only add ~20% to the CPU load and memory usage, could the pre8 version be more CPU hungry? A quick question for 'bpa', I'm still getting the well documented garbled problem on live streams with this version of the build (1.0pre7try2), when I tried to compile with yor patch (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=16917page=8 pst 76 dated Nov 05), I had the same problem Patrick Dixon (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=16917page=9 see post no.89).
