Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Squeeze Display for Android

2012-03-15 Thread mrfantasy

I can't seem to get it to work entering a "remote server" either name or
IP address when I'm at work. Things like SqueezePlayer and
SqueezeCommander work fine so it's not a connectivity problem.

Never mind. I just had to scroll through some screans with the up and

I'd been running SDT 5.8.8 fine with 7.5 until Thursday or Friday's
nightly--and now am getting no display on my SB2 with it loaded. Yes,
the install.xml lists 7.5 as the max version. Like I said, this just
broke recently. The plugin seems to otherwise be loading fine and debug
logging doesn't show anything out of the ordinary.

It looks like the update is going fine, but then there's a problem with

You probably wouldn't have noticed if you were installing it over an
older version. Since I just installed SC7 today, I did a new install

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] No scrobbling to last.fm

2007-07-05 Thread mrfantasy

I've had a similar issue--it seems once it fails songs pile up for a
bit. I resolved it by restarting SlimServer, although it may have
cleared up on its own once.

The plugin will cache tracks to scrobble and submit them all when it
can again. On Linux it sticks a file in /tmp, I assume it does the same
to the temp directory on Windows.

Once when I saw this I noticed last.fm didn't seem to be taking
submissions from anyone. Also, it looks like once it fails it waits
about 2 hours before attempting to submit again, and just caches tracks
in the interim, which may explain the "got better on its own" behavior.

Are you connecting to your home Slimserver? You'd need to make sure the
ports you need (9000 and 3483) are forwarding through your firewall.
Since it worked for you without configuration, however, I'm thinking
you might not have a firewall, in which case you should get one :-).

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: New plugin: NowPlaying

2005-11-30 Thread mrfantasy

I'd guess it's a threading library issue--I wouldn't be surprised if my
box and kernel don't support it the same way yours does (and since it's
a Kuro Box I can't easily hack or update the kernel) and perl is forced
to emulate it by creating a new process.

I haven't noticed the long delay on startup that you've mentioned.
SlimServer takes about the same amount of time to start with our
without your plugin (~20 seconds). The Threads->new returned message
is almost immediately after the creating thread message. Perhaps this
is related to the fact I've got three slimserver processes showing up.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: New plugin: NowPlaying

2005-11-30 Thread mrfantasy

I didn't capture the exact errors, but they had to do with the
$::d_plugins variable not having a package associated with it and not
knowing the scope of $dataQueue. And the affected line numbers perl was
reporting weren't the same ones vi was reporting, so my thought was that
I somehow corrupted the file or accidentally deleted a few lines. When
redownloaded the file from your web site the problem went away.

One thing I notice is that I now have 3 slimserver processes where I
used to have one. I assume this is a side effect of the threading? It
doesn't seem to be increasing so I'm guessing you're not creating a new
thread for each FTP and it's not being cleaned up correctly.

I am now using the FTP feature as well, with an include file on my
website (http://chairthrower.org/). I placed the temp file in the
exported directory on my Kuro Box so I can pick it up with my blogging
client on my Windows laptop.

Okay, when I actually turn it on from the command line when I start
SlimServer, I get an error about not having threads support on my Perl
(Gentoo on a Kuro Box). Getting Perl built with threads might be
troublesome so it might be back to the drawing board for me.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: New plugin: NowPlaying

2005-11-28 Thread mrfantasy

I like this, and not just for the FTP thing. By having a plugin that
drops the now playing in a text file, you can use it for things like
blogging software that read the "now playing" from a file for when you
post (I use Semagic on LiveJournal for instance and it supports this.)

I'm having trouble getting it running though. I've put the file in my
Plugins directory and restarted SlimServer but nothing seems to be
happening and there's no debugging info. I'll keep looking though.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Re: New addon anouncement - Incoming phone call display

2005-11-01 Thread mrfantasy

I'll have to try this--I got callerID working with ncid
(http://ncid.sourceforge.net/) and a program that posts to the HTTP
interface of my SlimServer. I wrote it up at
http://chairthrower.org/blog/?p=23 and
http://chairthrower.org/blog/?p=22.

It may be worth modifying this program to be a callout option for
ncid--I'm using ncid to serve clients that do popup on my Windows PC
and as well I'm getting logging of all my incoming calls. ncid also
handles all the modem stuff so you don't have too. I'll take a look at
it.
