Thanks Erland but I think there is something weird with LMS. I just updates SmartMix (a great plugin that could replace MusicIP) and Sugarcube got updates as well (while I didn't select it). reniera's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40705 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97967 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Sugarcube 351 deinstall itself
Hi, I use Sugarcube 3.51 for a couple of years (I don't want to use 4.x which is more complicated to use, less stable, required license manager and is expensive - I donated earlier for 3.51 and want to stick with it). Recently, I notice that it disappears from LMS. I reinstall it from a backup in the /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins directory, change the ownership (chown, chgrp, chmod...) and restart the server. The plugin is back in LMS but I have the message saying that 'pluging have been updated and that I have to restart'. If the server restarts, SugarCube is gone again. Setup is such that plugins should not update automatically. Anyone's suggestion to restore LMS as it uses to be would be appreciated. +---+ |Filename: sugarcube_351.zip| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=14351| +---+ reniera's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40705 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97967 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Fact is that over time, musicbrainz'db gets updated so frequently that you'll loose for sure your ratings at some point in time. Ratings should be stored in the media file itself. Trackstat is flawned by design. It just can't work unless you decide your files are perfectly tagged once for all. This is not true in reality especialy if you use musicbrainz because veryone contributes to musicbrainz so it's evolving permanently. Trackstat backup and restore simply never worked for me. reniera's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40705 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95698 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The previous free version was doing the job. I had donated because i like the plugin. All recent 'developments' have brought nothing except make the plugin look more complicated with unneeded option. What i realy do not like is the way i was 'forced' to upgrade to a commercial version with no way to go back to the previous free-donation-ware version. The new commercial version should have had a new name and coexist with the former free version. I don't agree with erland. I believe 3rd party dev are killing the system by forcing everyone to upgrade to commercial plugins with an unreasonable price. Indeed, i find the price much too high for what it is. Of course my comment are true also for all erland's plugins (trackstat and many more). Erland is the one who put this license manager thing together. He also forced us to upgrade to commercial versions with no way back and way too expensive contributions. I have uninstalled all those plugins. I don't trust those dev anymore. I have disabled plugins autoupgrade. My system is now very stable. I still miss a rating systems and have reinstall the free logitech native musicip plugin. I wait for logitech to develop this as a Core version. If they don't, i trust the market to provide it somehow sooner rather than later. I have changed media systems several time (winmp, wmp...). Squeezebox is by far the best for the time being but because it misses this rating ang logging/stat systems in rhe core product, it's not perfect. Coming back to sugarcube, i wanted to say that cparker never replied to my mails when the product was upgraded and didn't work anymore ( took me some time to understand i needed license manager). Sumarry : i'm a happy squeezebox user (i have 10 radio and touch around in the house). I'm frustrated that i wasted so much time setting up erland and cparker's plugins and then they tried forcing me to pay. I call this racket and i don't trust those expensive addons anymore. reniera's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40705 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95782 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Sugarcube doesn't work anymore
I like sugarcube a lot so i decided to try again license manager. Even after asking a free 30 days license ( note i had paid for a license already), lic. Mgr keeps reporting 'unlicensed'. I don't know wht happened after three attempt, It came with another accountid. I registered again and it worked this time. It says 'licensed until ...' Well, only the license works because sugarcube is still doing nothing. Really diseappointed. So tired of those licensed stuffs that don't work. Sent a mail to ch. Parker and deinstalled that crappy license mgr. Waiting for a feedback. I loved the free sugarcube. Worked flawlessly until i donated to ch. Parker. The commercial version was less stable. Now with license manager, that s...s. I want my free sugarcube - i'm even ready to pay for it but i don't want those licensing things that do NOT work. Please... I have added the repository of SMD on the plugin page, then I have selected the plugin in the list and restarted hen asked, then ... gone. I don't see the plugin on the plugin page and SBS keeps asking to restarts. I already had the same with playlist manager a few weeks ago. I selected it in the list, restarted and then ... gone. Now, I'm sure there is a problem with the plugin installation. How can I resolv that ? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] trackstat and 7.6.1
Erland, several ideas for you to investigate : The advantage of using MUSICBRAINZ_TRACKID (when it exists) is that there would be one unique play_count for all identical tracks files even if the same file exists in different albums. Thyat's what is expected, isn't it ? If the same track exists on 3 albums, you don't want to have 3 count. in the end, what you want is to know how many time the same track was played in total. Also, Don't you think that if trackstat was able to backup its data in the mp3/flac directories, it would be easier to manage as a backup/restore ? Just like some people use CUE files and keep them along with the music itself, having the backup in the same directory would ensure the stats are kept with the music in all occasion. Another suggestion would be to implement an option to restore data by adding up the stats instead of overwriting (ref. my other post). With that option, someone who gets its stats cleared up and don't notice right away, can use an old backup to add the old data without loosing the new ones. Indeed, I notice that when I retag with Musicbrainz (because tags gets corrected over time), I loose the stats that goes along . -- reniera reniera's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40705 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89719 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

What I see with MP3TAG, it's that the MUSICBRAINZ ARTIST ID exists twice (two tags with a value each). I don't see the "/" you refer to. The ARTIST tag exists only once with the value "David Guetta & Chris Willis" (it's not separated) The TPE4/MIXARTIST tag also exists twice in MP3TAG and the value is read correctly by SBS as TPE4: [ Joachim Garraud, Frédéric Riesterer ]. So for me, SBS is capable of reading the repeated ID3v2 2,4 tags but it fails to do that for MUSICBRAINZ ARTIST ID. If such a field used to be unique in the past, it could be that it was never coded properly to read multiple values (bug). As far as trackstat is concerned, isn't the MUSICBRAINZ_TRACKID field more 'unique' ? Overall, I think that if trackstat was able to dump its data in readable format or XML in the mp3/flac directories, it would be far easier to manage as a backup. -- reniera reniera's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40705 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89719 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Well in french, the options are : Traiter l'étiquette TPE2 MP3 en tant que Groupe Traiter l'étiquette TPE2 MP3 en tant que Artiste, Album I did select the first one because "Artiste, Album" made no sense to me. If it had been transleted correctly to "Album d'artiste", I would have been more keen at choosing that option ... (that was months ago, I hadn't digged into that so deeply !) Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] trackstat and 7.6.1
Well, I do not understand this. It could be that I possibly have 1529 duplicate tracks i.e. in single and compilations. (sound a lot but it's not impossible). But how about Duplicate musicbrainz artist tag ?? I would assume a lot more considering one artists does a lot of song ... Beside this, I use picard for almost everything (just a few tracks are not tagged yet or there is no match in musicbrainz), so I would assume that anyone using picard would have the same problem. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] trackstat and 7.6.1
I wanted to try adding another file but the log was empty (http://maximoi:9000/server.log?lines=100 shows a blank page). Another problem ? I restarted SBS and during the initial rescan, SBS again hung up for 2 minutes. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Merging trackstat_scheduled_backup_ files
I notice that my trackstat stats gets lost sometimes. I see that the size of the trackstat_scheduled_backup files time to time gets zeroed. I'm not sure why - perhaps because I retagged them all once in a while with Picard (all files have musicbrainz id tags) or perhaps because I've been playing with beta versions and trackstat setting were lost during upgrades ? Ideally, I'd like to merge +/- 10 xml files to rebuild my stats since january 2011. Is there a tool to do that ? Can I just concatenate the files (but what about duplicates then ?) ? [SlimDevices: Plugins] Ipeng to copy files between sbs and ipod ?
Ipeng is wonderfull. Was the compelling reason for me to buy an ipod touch. An obvious missing feature is the ability to copy files between squeezebox server and my ipod so i can take some music away when not connected (and wo using itunes).
