Thank you. Menu option is now visible in Radio and I can see the 'new'
links.

This means very little to me.
Does that mean that depending on the original format of the stream, and
the type of player I'm using, determines whether extra processing /
transcoding is required?

Should I be using different streams (e.g. not DASH) and different
Streaming Preference settings in the plugin config?

Is there a lowest common denominator for the players that I have?

And if the BBC removes these streams, what are my options? Replace the
player(s)?

I will up this to a minute and try it out.

Thank you for explaining. This helps a lot in understanding the
differences with the iPlayer vs. other streams.

I did not, which is why I mentioned that I could not find the BBC
iPlayer menu item, as I could not find the latest links. I thought it
might be pertinent.
I now have the menu items and have tried these new links. Still the
same, but I need to try the 1 min delay as mentioned earlier.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer V1.5.2 beta test

2017-02-01 Thread spindoctor

I’ve started from post 1 and gone through all of the thread. I have to
admit to not understanding most of it. I am a tecchie, but tends to be
Windows related and some high level networking. No experience of
streaming technologies.

_SYSTEM_OVERVIEW_
My system is Fujitsu ESPRIMO E3521
Inter Core 3 Quad running at 2.83ghz
4GB RAM
Windows 10 x64 1607
Wired Ethernet, reserved IP address
It’s pretty much sat there doing little else.

I am in the UK on a Virgin Media 70mbps link.

I am using Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0
BBC iPlayer plugin v 1.5.2
BBC iPlayer Extras plugin v 1.9.5
I’ve been using SBS and LMS for nearing 6-8 years, so it’s entirely
possible that there is junk in the configuration somewhere, as I’ve
upgraded a number of OSes, SBS /LMS and likely plugin versions and
settings over the years.

My players are:
Boom – wifi
Boom 2 – wifi
Duet Lounge – wired
I also had a couple of wired SB3s, but they have not been connected for
months. The issue was also present using these players.

They are normally all synced with each other, but for testing purposes
I’ve set them all as No Sync.
Whilst players are not synced I’ve used both the wifi Boom and the wired
Duet as the test players.
I get the same issue seemingly whether synchronised or not or wired or
not.

_THE_ISSUE_
I always use BBC iPlayer steams via my Favourites. Whenever I choose a
BBC iPlayer stream, the stream may (or may not) start and within seconds
will go quiet and ‘Buffering n%’ is displayed. Audio may well start for
a few seconds, or longer. I never use the Extras plugin. This
behaviour will continue for maybe up to 15-20 mins and sometimes will
then work for generally most of the day. Changing to another BBC
iPlayer stream starts the issue all over again.

This was the issue I’ve had for many months, but it’s been getting
worse. As a result, I’ve recently upgraded to the latest LMS server (it
was the old 7.5 from memory). I did not know that there were updates as
the console was telling me I was at the latest version. I had to
download the LMS update manually.

I’ve also updated the BBC iPlayer and BBC iPlayer Extras plugins. I had
the old repo URL so I updated using the betarelease-repo.xml URL. I
can’t recall the old version, if this is important, then can you tell me
the location of any possible logs?
The Live and On Demand stream settings were set to

HLS > MP3 > FlashAAC > FlashMP3

I’ve now changed them to
DASH > HLS > MP3 > FlashAAC>

So now having updated the LMS and the plugins and changed to DASH, I’m
still having the same issues. It does seem that it’s only the BBC
iPlayer streams that are affected.

I can play BBC and other radio streams from RadioTime without issue. I
can play other streams from podcasts and If I select BBC streams from
BBC iPlayer Extras (which I wouldn’t normally use) they seem to play
immediately without issue.

*Separately, even after re-installing the plugins, I don’t get the BBC
iPlayer on the menu when I connect to the web console, but I do get BBC
iPlayer Extras.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Regards, Phil

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2011-01-01 Thread spindoctor

I just checked again and the DI menu is mow there, so may have been that
the iPhone hadnt synced fully with the back end. I also checked mysb.com
and DI is there, so maybe I had enabled it on there originally.

Thanks for the extra info - much appreciated

Happy New Year!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-12-30 Thread spindoctor

Hi
I have been using iPeng on ipod touch for a while and more recently on
my new iPhone.

I am using the same version of ipeng software (v1.2.10) om each
device.

I am using OS 3.1.3 on the touch and OS 4.2.1 on the iphone.

I was comparing the ipeng menu items and I noticed that the Digitally
Imported icon does appear on the touch but does not appear on the
iPhone.

** I have not yet allowed the iphone to fully sync with Squeeze Server,
not have I reloaded the cache. There is still some work to do with the
music library. **

I have not looked at every post in the 200 odd pages, but I did do a
search on Digitally and Imported to no avail.

Many thanks for your support
Rgds Phil

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2010-12-30 Thread spindoctor

You may have a point there.

One thing I didn't mention is that I've also migrated squeeze server
from an old pc to a new one. So maybe the menu item was generated on
the ipod touch from the old SB server on the old pc.

That said, I don't specifically remember adding in the Digitally
Imported menu item / icon into the old SB server.

If that is the case, do you know how can I get the DI icon onto the new
SB system so that it may appear on the iPhone?

Many thanks for your fast response
Rgds Phil
