My speakers have been working perfectly for the last hour and a half,
thanks - I've tried locally-stored FLACs and now streaming from Qobuz.

I cleared the UPnPBridge log, then switched on full logging and played a
track from my local store (USB stick on the RPi). Play stopped at the
end of the first track (there were about eight tracks in the list). I
clicked the >> button and the next track played, then playback stopped.
I have downloaded and attached the UPnPBridge log, also a text file with
details of the system. I hope this helps - UPnPBridge makes LMS just
perfect for my needs!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: UPnPBridge = integrate UPnP/DLNA players with LMS (squeeze2upnp)

2022-12-10 Thread stevebaggs

I'm not sure whether this is related to the current conversation, but
for a year or two I have been using UPnPBridge with my Kef LSX speakers.
It has been a most successful partnership, allowing me to control
(switch on and adjust volume) the speakers via LMS. As of yesterday,
UPnPBridge does not move on at the end of a track.

I had this problem intermittently when I first set UPnPBridge up and I
overcame it by using the Flow option and transcoding to PCM. That is
still set, but playback stops at the end of each track whether the
source is Qobuz or locally-stored FLACs.

For now I've switched back to using Toslink (RPi with a HAT) but I do
miss the convenience of UPnPBridge. Is it likely that a recent change to
the plugin is causing my problem?

I did a reinstall so I assume it's the default settings. I didn't try
doing any specific settings this time and it carried on working OK last
night (haven't used it today). I've scraped the settings screen into the
attached text file - the layout isn't quite the same as the page you see
in Settings, but it should all be there.

Starting a DLNA stream to the LSXs switches them on here, and while you
can't switch them off directly I'm sure you know they will switch
themselves off after a period of inactivity (unless you tell them not to
in the Kef settings).

Starting a DLNA stream will also cause the LSXs to switch to WiFi and
start playing that stream, so you can automatically switch source to
DLNA from whatever it was playing previously. You can't use the bridge
to switch away from WiFi, obviously.

This thread has prompted me to reinstall the bridge and give it another
go, and despite what I said earlie, I've been using it for the past
couple of hours without a single hiccup. Perhaps things have moved on
since I last tried it, and that's very handy for exactly the reasons you
gave - no need for the remote, or the Kef app, LMS does it all. :)

I have used it with LSXs, but I had problems with it failing to move on
to the next track - not all the time, but often enough to be a nuisance.
I did read the documentation and tried various configurations, but I was
never able to resolve it satisfactorily. If anyone comes up with a
reliable solution I'd love to get it working.

Squeezer is good, but if you use Material Skin then there is no need for

That was my initial reaction to the change, but then I discovered that
you can get to the settings for both the server and any player using the
Information item on the top level menu. The server and all the players
are listed, and under each one is the option to go direct to the
settings for that device. I find that quicker and more convenient than
the "old" approach, where server and player settings appeared on the
top-level menu. I'm not actually sure whether this facility is new or
I've only just noticed it, but it's very useful.

Still working well this morning, and I had no problems after my post
last night. I had a handful of retries on WS early this morning, and
nothing since I switched to R3. Of course it may be that whatever
networking problem was causing the failures isn't present at the moment,
but the key thing is that the plugin is coping if they do happen and I
haven't heard any dropouts at all - which was the objective. Happy
bunny.

No idea what the long run of failures was yesterday, but I haven't seen
a repeat.

I'd be happy to give it a go.

For what it's worth, I've been streaming R3 continuously since then and
I can see two retries in the log. I haven't heard any breaks, and there
has been no repeat of the repeated fails. So far, so good.

I can see a couple of retries in the log so that seems to be working,

I'm afraid I'm not seeing much difference with Radio Station Timeout set
to 3s. Subjectively I think the dropouts are shorter, but I haven't
timed them. I had quite frequent dropouts on WS earlier this morning, R3
seems better but they are still there - not sure if that makes any
sense, and I'd have to monitor for quite a bit longer to be sure it
wasn't just chance.

There shouldn't be - that device only runs LMS, it does nothing else. It
wouldn't have been scanning then, that is scheduled to happen at night.

I don't know whether it makes any difference but, as you will see, I was
listening to R3 during the morning, and using the device on which LMS
runs. At lunchtime I was listening to R4 on a Receiver connected to LMS
over Powerline. I wonder if the error at 1309 was a transient problem
between the Receiver and LMS. I can repeat the HTTP logging whilst
listening on the Pi running LMS if it would help.

I'll add my thanks to all the others for this plugin - I live in dread
of the day that Auntie Beeb locks us out for good, but while it lasts
I'm really enjoying what you have provided.

I haven't seen this anywhere else so maybe it's related to my setup, but
I'm getting occasional dropouts of around three or four seconds duration
when listening to live radio. This happens on R3, R4 and WS, and I
grabbed these three lines from the log this morning:-

[20-12-15 11:00:26.0911] Plugins::BBCSounds::ProtocolHandler::__ANON__

I'm running LMS Version: 8.0.1 - 1607593012 on a Pi3, which connects to
the router via Ethernet. The broadband connection is via 4G (Three)
generally giving 40-50Mb/s and 25ms latency - it streams BBC TV and
Amazon films quite happily, so I wouldn't have thought audio should
bother it. Nonethless it looks as if the plugin can't connect - is there
anything I can do to improve this, like increasing buffer size or
something?
