I did all that last month. Did you get a chance to take a look?

I re-ran the restore operation with exactly the same result. The same
ratings are missing as before.

Yes, I left the operation running and went out for the day (I remember
it taking a long time previously).

I think I checked the server log and saw that the restore has finished,
can't be sure though.

I did have the "find alternative files option enabled" as well as using
musicbrainz tags...but like I said the strange thing is that some
rating have been restored and some haven't.

I'll re-run the restore and see what happens.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat restore only partially restores ratings

2015-12-30 Thread yocky

I just installed LMS 7.9 on a second PC and copied my music library
over.

The file names are identical but the path is slightly different
(e:\music\ instead of i:\all\music), however the files I'm really
interested in are musicbrainz tagged so I didn't think this was
important.

I did a fresh scan and then a trackstat restore from my latest backup
file.

This has partially worked. Some ratings have been restored and some
haven't. Even stranger is that the playcount seems to have been restored
for even the tracks that haven't had the ratings restored.

Any ideas?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat and Musicbrainz

2012-07-11 Thread yocky

Right, I'm getting nowhere fast with this.

I took 2 albums and ran some tests.

I rated a few tracks on Album1 then rescanned. I tagged Album1 and
Album2 with Musicbrainz tags via MP3Tag and then rescanned. I rated some
tracks on Album2 and rescanned. Then I moved Album1 and Album2 to a
different folder and rescanned. I checked the server log and Trackstat
was performing a refresh after each scanbut my ratings were gone
from each album.

What am I doing wrong?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat and Musicbrainz

2012-07-11 Thread yocky

Thanks for looking.

Right well that explains a lot, and yes I sent the right one. In fact I
suspected that that that might be the problem. That's why I was asking
in a previous post how I could tell if Musicbrainz tags had been
applied. I didn't know about the View Tags option or I could have
checked that myself.

I just tagged another (already rated) album with Musicbrainz own tagger
Picard and sure enough I can see the Musicbrainz tags and the ratings
survived a move. So given that I'd much rather use MP3Tag, what am I
doing wrong? (Not that you're obliged to offer me support for a random
piece of software you have nothing to do with.)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat and Musicbrainz

2012-07-05 Thread yocky

Thanks for all that. I'll do some more testing tonight.

As an aside, I'm attempting to tag these files with Musicbrainz IDs via
MP3Tag. If I use that program and use Musicbrainz as the info source, is
that tagging the files sufficiently? In which field is this new info
going? Is it possible to identify a file that's had Musicbrainz IDs
applied after the event, and if so how?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat and Musicbrainz

2012-07-04 Thread yocky

As I understand it, tagging files with Musicbrainz will enable my
ratings to survive when I rename or move the files (or both) because the
files are uniquely identified by the Musicbrainz IDs rather than
location and filename.

First of all, is my understanding correct? And if so then would the
ratings survive being moved/renamed in any circumstance or would I
require a full rescan followed by a restoration of the ratings from a
backup file? I ask because my few tests of this have resulted in my
rating being lost...but I haven't tried the complete rescan yet.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Newbie problems with SQL Playlists

2012-05-01 Thread yocky

I'm trying to find my feet with this functionality and struggling a
bit.

I'm trying to find, or find a way of creating, a playlist for random
songs with a minimum user defined rating. I can't find an existing
playlist like this on the Web Control in either the Dynamic Playlist or
the SQL Playlist sections, and when I try to create a playlist like this
there seem to be options for every conceivable combination of variables
but not mine.

On a related note whilst messing around I chose to Download last
version of existing playlists which seems to have messed up the SQL
Playlist section of the Web ControlI now have quite a few blank
lines at the top of the list of playlists and the list of enabled
Dynamic Playlists includes a whole bunch of playlists that look like
this: ?xml version=1.0 encoding=utf-8?

Hope some of that makes sense.

If you want to use pre-defined templates you will have to install

After TrackStat is installed, you should be able to create a new
playlist in SQL Playlist of the type Advanced with rating, you can
leave all parameters as they are and only set the Minimum rating
attribute and of course the Playlist name.

Or where you looking for a playlist that always prompt for a rating
value when starting to play the playlist ?

Just the former. That does the trick. Does the Advanced with Rating
playlist always refer to random songs, rather than random albums/artists
etc?

erland wrote:
Ok, I need to debug this a bit and see if I can reproduce it in my own
 library.
The downloaded files are stored in the Template directory which have
been configured in SQL Playlist settings, so you can just delete
everything in that directory and then click the Refresh link at the
bottom of the SQL Playlist menu and that should hopefully solve your
 issues.

That's tidied things up. Not sure it's completely right though. When I
browse Dynamic Playlists and go to Random, should the next folder
immediately within Random be For Selected?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC fast forward or skip

2008-04-29 Thread yocky

Running SC7 (17793) on Windows XP.

After searching through this forum I'm still a little confused about
whether I can jump to half way through a listen again BBC stream.

This thread :
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=45575highlight=alienbbc+skip
seems to imply that it's possible from the web interface but not the
remote.

Whereas this thread :
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42189highlight=alienbbc+skip
implies that it's doable from the remote but not the web.

I can't get either to work. Using the remote when I hold down the
forward button it counts up the number of minutes to skip from 1 to 5
but when the button is released it carries on playing. Something is
happening when I try the web interface, but not what I want to happen.
Basically what ever I attempt either results in the stream continuing
as if I hadn't intervened or starting again from the beginning.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC fast forward or skip

2008-04-29 Thread yocky

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using SC 7.0 with SB3s. I didn't recognise the behaviour you've
stated for this combination but I think I've just established that's
because I had 2 players synced when I was trying skip forward. When I
try on an unsynced player it works a treat.

With the synced players when I press and hold FFW on the remote the
time to skip forward counts up in minutes but when the button is
released the stream continues as it was but the display shows that it's
skipping forward at between 2x and 32x speed.

So will FFW eventually work with 7.1 and later versions?
