Right...duplicates gone and back on track...

Now for the silly question of the day.

How do I delete favourites or rename them?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 version - beta trial

2009-01-10 Thread gah789

I have followed what I understand to be the solution given in the thread
that you referred to, but it has not solved the problem. To be precise,
I used tar to extract all of the contents of the all-terminfo-files
tarball. I have confirmed that /volume1/SSODS/share/terminfo/v/vt102
exists and restarted the TS109, but I still get the message that
terminal type 'vt102' does not exist.

In addition, I am getting the following messages in the SC server log

0419: mDNSResponderPosix: Error reading service file
/volume1/SqueezeCenter/Cache/mDNS.conf
0418: [09-01-10 18:30:46.6242] Slim::Networking::Async::DNS::init (102)
Warning: No DNS servers responded, falling back to OpenDNS.
0417: [09-01-10 18:30:41 ] ssctrl SqueezeCenter started.
0416: [09-01-10 18:30:14 ] ssctrl Command line =
/volume1/SSODS/sbin/start-stop-daemon --start --chuid ssods --exec
/volume1/SSODS/bin/perl -- /volume1/SqueezeCenter/slimserver.pl
--daemon --pidfile /volume1/SqueezeCenter/Cache/squeezecenter.pid
--cachedir /volume1/SqueezeCenter/Cache --logdir
/volume1/SqueezeCenter/Logs --prefsdir /volume1/SqueezeCenter/prefs
--noupnp --httpport 9001
0415: [09-01-10 18:30:13 ] ssctrl Starting SqueezeCenter
7.3.1-24372.

The apparent DNS failure does not cause any problems for access to
regular internet radio selections offered by Squeezebox, but access to
anything provided by AlienBBC consistently fails.

Addendum:

I have realised what the problem is. My Squeezebox uses DHCP to get a
network address & DNS information, whereas the TS109 has a fixed IP
address and the DNS was not set properly. Regular internet radio works
because it relies upon the Squeezebox, whereas AlienBBC requires that
the TS109 can decode URLs. Once I re-set the DNS information for the
TS109 the AlienBBC streams work properly. The missing vt102
information appears to be a minor blip rather than the real source of
the problem.

Thank you for your help.

I have version 3.15 of SSOTS installed on my TS109. I didn't install it
because I got the NAS from Ripcaster, who installed SSOTS, SC (7.2.1) &
AlienBBC. While SC worked ok, I had the same problem that I reported
with AlienBBC. I used SSOTS to wipe SC 7.2.1 and installed SC 7.3.1
from scratch and then used the Extension Downloader to install the
current version of AlienBBC.

I can find no reference to termcap updates in the SSOTS information or
on flipflip's website. Can you point me to where I can find the
relevant information?

2.4a-7.3 works OK for me when I test BBC 7 -> Schedule->Fri 9th.

How many days get listed when you look at schedule ?

MY SC versin is latest 7.3.2 but that should be an issue since it is
AlienBBC which generates the list.

At a guess there is something wrong in your setup or else network is
timing out.

1. Stop SC. Delete alienbbc.opml file in your playlist or cache
directory and then restart SC.

2. Increase Settings/Advanced/Network Station Timeout.

The "Alternate Listen Again" uses the XML interface which is an
alternate way of retrieving the programs instead of using web interface
which can break. I think all that is missing now is "Categories".

This is an issue with mplayer which uses ncurses which looks for the

The QNAP is missing the termcap database. Add a termcap database with

If you used SSOTS then there is an update about this.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 version - beta trial

2009-01-09 Thread gah789

I would like to report another problem. I have tried to set up AlienBBC
on a QNAP TS109 starting from a clean installation of Squeezecenter
7.3.1 and using the Download Extension procedure - today Jan 9th. The
installation appears to complete successfully. I can access AlienBBC,
locate the various live streams and listen again options. However,
when I attempt to play anything - live or listen again - my Squeezebox
says that it is connecting and then nothing happens. Same story for
Radio 3, Radio 4 & Radio Scotland.

I access the internet via a satellite connection through an ISP in
Ireland. I am able to get BBC Radio live through an internet radio
(Revo Pico WiFi). Further, I can play regular internet radio channels
- e.g. WGBH Classical - without problems.

Checking the Squeezecenter server log gives a whole series of messages
of the following type:

I'll also fix the final bug bear of ABCPodcastParser and that is the

If you are using Windows and install SC 7.3.x - there is automated
install using the "Extension DOwnloader" which will install mplayer
automatically on the PC.

Your PC will need to be on and SC running to do the transcoding from

I've got the same problem, I've started looking at ABCPodcastParser.pm

I think this is due to a change in the -x parameter setting within
lame. The use was inverted and developers corrected it. IIRC it
changed between version 3.96 and 3.98 of lame.

This may be due to Roku M1001 SB1 emulation which has some buffering
problems. If no data is sent to Roku within 6 secs of "start track" it
will not play anything. I think the audio start time forces some MP3
"silence" to be sent to player immediately and so keeps Roku happy
until real data starts streaming.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 version - beta trial

2008-12-30 Thread jdavies

I have SqueezeCenter (7.3.2) and AlienBBC (v2.4a4-7.3) on Windows Vista.
I also have Lame.exe (3.98.2) in the same folder as mplayer.exe. I
have an SB1 player (actually, its a Roku Soundbridge M1001). It all
works beautifully to play the BBC live and listen again streams.
Thanks bpa and Triode!

To get it to work, however, I had to do two things -- that are the
reasons for this post:

1. I had to remove the lame "-x" param from the custom-convert.conf
file (in the rtsp mp3 line). Simply changing it to "$-x$" did not
work. With the "-x" param, all I got from the BBC was static. I had
to do this again when I upgraded the AlienBBC to v2.4a4 because the
custom-convert.conf file was overwritten. By the way, removing the
"-x" param was not necessary with Lame 3.97.

2. Also, I had to set the "audio start time" in the SqueezeCenter to
10 (rather than 0). Otherwise, the live BBC streams would not play
(the listen again streams would play but not the live streams). I'm
guessing its a buffering problem.

2008-12-19 Thread mozzer503

Hey
I've just let SqueezeCenter 7.3 install AlienBBC for me. After doing a
little googling I discovered that I needed to install mPlayer. I took
MPlayerOSX_1.0rc1.dmg from
http://www.x2systems.com/AlienBBC/mplayer.html. Opened the package and
installed mPlayer. I then rebooted SqueezeCenter.

But nothing. AlienBBC claims that mplayer is not installed. If I go to
the application folder and start the app manually, mplayer happily
plays movies for me.

Any ideas?

PS. I'm running the latest OSX with all the services packs, the latest
Squeezecenter, and well, the latest of everything.

Thanks

This thread starts with AlienBBC 2.02 - the current version of AlienBBC

If On Linux/OSX is sounds like mplayer.sh cannot be run or mplayer is

Are the RTSP entries enabled (i.e. not greyed) in SC web page
Settings/Advanced/Filetypes ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 version - beta trial

2008-12-16 Thread gregthegrate

I have loaded the new version of AlienBBC, after removing the old
version completely. I have also removed the file alienbbc.opml from
the Cache directory. I have also reset both my computer and the
device.

I can see all the stations on the Squeezebox, but when I select them, I
get a message
"Getting Stream Info" which it does for a long while then goes to
playing with no buffering message, but the counter doesn't move and
there's no sound.

When I try the Listen Agains, I get "Playlist Empty"

This also means that none of the Australian radio stations that I tried
work either.

Would welcome some help

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 version - beta trial

2008-12-12 Thread bpa

In 7.3 Plugins can be installed in both the old server/Plugins location
and the cache directory. The cache directory is used by the Extension
Downloader.

I think any manual installation should still be in the server/Plugins
directory to prevent confusion about what had been installed manually
vs automatically.

The cache directory location for automatic downloads of Plugins may
also change - in which case in future release (e.g. 7.3.1) the cache
directory may not be valid for plugins.

No - its only the proper place for Extension Downloader to install
plugins to. The idea is that is it somewhere different from the
previous manually installed plugins so that it is totally under the
control of Extension Downloader... (You should still be able to
install plugins manually to the old location)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 version - beta trial

2008-12-12 Thread Triode

I'm assuming your problem is with the Alien 2.4a2 on Windows? If not
please delete and use the "Extension Downloader" (found under Settings
- Advanced" to download AlienBBC.

For windows, this downloads mplayer the first time it starts and can
take 2-5 mins to do this. There is a new section on the AlienBBC
Settings page which shows the status of mplayer which should show it is
downloading during this time. Once it has downloaded, there is a "test"
link which can launch mplayer in a new window to test that it is
installed ok.

I had hoped to put some more instructions up on the Alien web site
before 7.3, but did not manage it.

Could you retry installing and check what the Mplayer status is on the
AlienBBC setting page.

Actually, the error message I said in the first paragraph was wrong.
After saying: "Getting stream information" It comes up with an error

I have the new RTSP.pm file (as provided by awt on this forum)

Is there any chance of adding the World Service Live Stream to the

The dropout problem is (was) most likely to have been caused by a bug
in the firmware FLAC decoder which had the effect that it never sent
-output-buffer-underrun- events to the server. The server needs those
to tell when the player has run out of data and stop for a few seconds
to give it a chance to rebuffer properly. Without that you just get
stuttering output. This has been there forever and was fixed in the
latest firmware (117 and friends).

I upgraded from SC7.2 to SC7.3 (latest build) yesterday. All appeared
to be fine, including streaming various BBC podcasts I have saved as a
favourite. However, when I tried using Alien BBC, it just would not
connect to any live or "listen again" streams.

I just found your update and installed it. Problem solved, with all

Incidentally I'm running SC7.3 on a 64-bit Windows 2k8 server with no
problems at all.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for that bpa :-)

As I'm in the UK, like the idea of higher quality MP3 streams and am
running on a relatively low power server (Thecus N5200) it sounds like
BBCiPlayer is more suited to my needs/requirements

[SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC 7.3 version - beta trial

2008-10-13 Thread Triode

I've attached an updated trial version of AlienBBC for 7.3.

We posted a previous version of this with the last AlienBBC release,
but people found problems with the 7.3 versions so we withdrew them.
Please could users of 7.3 try the attached and post back here if it
works for them. We will then add it to the main Alien download site.

Please try with the latest version of 7.3 and post back to this thread
including the exact build of the server you are using if you find a
problem.
