I created 3 Screensavers for the Touch Controller and Radio to be used
with Superdatetime (developed for the Wunderground version, works most
probably also with the Weather.com version.

- All screensavers show the low / high temparature (celsius) and
probability of precipitation for the today, and the next three days
- Current temperature, today's forecast as short text, date and time are
displayed as well
- Radio and Touch show alarm clock time if set
- Touch shows wind speed in Km/h
- Touch shows 12h and 24h forecast as icons
- all show 36 and 48h forecast as animation
- Radio and controller show 12h and 24h forecast as animation

Feel free to improve and share further.

Those TXT files are screen layouts. If you go to the LMS web UI >
Settings > Advanced > Custom Clock Helper, you can select "Clock styles"
> "Style: Import..." and paste in the contents of one of the TXT files.
It will save as the "name" identified at the top of the TXT file. Now
you can switch to that Custom Clock. Switching from Fahrenheit to
Celsius is a matter of editing the TXT file; for instance "%t" is
current temp in Fahrenheit, "%T" is Celsius.

( sun and cloud and rain) available. I only found a forecast
OffClockSaver SDT WEather Celsius and there runs only a text. Is it
possible to change the weather forecast - i saw on a other thread some
different pictures and there are some txt files. But i think they are in
Farenheit not Celcius an i donnot know what to do with the files :-(
Thank you for the first steps

SDT has 2 different settings pages. Sample pics attached. One at the
system level and one at the player level.

Your weather location identifier needs to entered on the system settings
page. For legacy players like the Transport, Boom, Classic etc. you
will also need to adjust settings at the player level to select what you
want displayed.

For Touch and Radio players, Custom Clock applet and Custom Clock Helper
plugin are needed.

The weather.com variant of SDT retrieves current weather data and full
forecast information from weather.com. Optionally, it can also retrieve
current weather information (not forecasts) from wunderground.com.

Most if not all of the existing custom clock screens that have been
created will use weather.com data. These can be tweaked to pull
wunderground data by changing the macro variable to be displayed. The
possible macro variables are shown on the settings screen at the player
level.

If you are having difficulty getting weather information to display it
is likely your location identifier or language selection isn't valid for
weather.com. They both get plugged into the URL and if they are not
right they will be rejected. You can set SDT logging to INFO and check
the server.log file to confirm the URLs are properly formed and accepted
by weather.com.

For more details and help you should view the forum thread for
SuperDateTime.
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?14327-Announce-SuperDateTime-Current-Date-Temperature-and-or-Baseball-Screensaver

Hope this helps.

Your language setting should be something other than "DL". For German
it should be "de-DE".

Also double check your weather.com location identifier. If you go to
weather.com on a browser and select your weather location and preferred
language you can see the proper settings for SDT in the URL.

The settings are on the Touch/Radio:

1. Settings > Screen > Screensavers > Custom Clock Settings - Pick the
clock version(s) you want to use
2. Settings > Screen > Screensavers > When off - You should see options
for the version(s) you selected

You need to have installed the Custom Clock applet (Settings > Advanced
> Applet Installer) first, but it looks like you have done this.

There is a Custom Clock menu entry for each player under „Players“.
There you can choose amongst several Styles for you Radio. (And learn
how to create own custom styles or tweak existing ones.)

There is a version of SDT based on weather.com data that does not
require an API key.

Here is the repository link if you want to try it

Code:

https://sourceforge.net/projects/sdt-weather-com/files/repo.xml

PS - You may need to uninstall the WU version of SDT to see it as WU
variant has higher version numbers than the weather.com variant.

Converting this plugin to use the 'Dark Sky API'
(https://darksky.net/dev) looks like an option worth investigating.
Can't promise to find time to do this myself any time soon, however.

This sort of bullshit communication is really upsetting.

This is their right, as the owners of a free service to stop it whenever
they want. But saying ‘To improve service ... and enhance relationship
...’
WTF? You’re not enhancing anything, you want to make users pay, that’s
your right but I hate this type of communication style which treat
people like idiots by hypocritically saying exactly the opposite of what
it means.

Sorry for the rant, I guess I’m just in a bad mood today :-)

Indeed, the plugins I gathered in my repo are for the older
squeezeboxes.
They're as far as I know no longer maintained by their original
developers. but still very usable...
The repo is as it is. I can't guarantee the plugins will still work next
year when for example an API changes, but as I use them myself I'll try
to fix them if I can. This probably won't happen with most of them but
the Weathertime Screensave may be such a case.

Afaik the repository no longer exists. When I reinstalled squeezecenter
3 months ago I noticed that the repositories for some plugins I was
using no longer existed:
Auto Dim Display Plugin from Eric Koldinger/Peter Watkins
Volume Lock Plugin from Peter Watkins Rehfeld
WeatherTime Screensaver from Martin Rehfeld

I have created a new repository for these plugins myself.
You can find the repository I'm now using here:

It just started working for me last night, and I didn't change anything.
So perhaps something has been fixed behind the scenes.

I have had the exact same problem - starting sometime in the last few
days. However, subsequent to some vigorous messing, i believe i have
fixed it for myself.

What i did was this:

1) Set my citycode to CYUL (as someone above suggested) and hit apply
2) Powered off/on my SB3 from the web interface (this then displays the
correct Montreal weather info)
3) Set my citycode back to EGNT and hit apply
4) Powered off/on my SB3 from the web interface - Voila! My local
weather is displayed again :-)

Can any of you suffering the same fault verify if this fixes it for you?
Obviously replace my EGNT with your local citycode...

Perhaps this was/is a local cached data file issue - seem to remember
something similar with SuperDateTime in the past. Either that or
something has automagically been "fixed" behind the scenes unlikely but
possible.

That was my first thought as well, but that API message appears to have
been there for at least a couple of years judging by the earlier posts.
It also wouldn't explain why it works with non-UK locations (which also
show the same warning) and how pulling the same information into a
browser would work when they both access the same xml feed at the same
address. I'm at a loss and am temporarily using SuperDateTime on my SB3,
although I prefer WeatherTime for its forecasting ability.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New WeatherTime Screensaver adds graphical forecasts

2015-05-14 Thread buffettck

My weather app here in the U.S. is still working...for now... It's
getting a little flaky lately, though. The weather icons that would
blink back and forth between two pictures now blink back and forth
between one picture and a blank space. With this, the loss of Youtube
functionality, my radio stations that randomly stop and start, etc, I
think the whole SBR thing is just becoming an unreliable piece of crap.
Even more than usual. My hardware is fine, so I'm placing the blame on
Logitech not doing their part on their end and maintaining the server
properly. Maybe not so much for the 3rd part apps, but at least for the
damned radio stations which should WORK.

When I fetch the data manually then there are hints that point to a new
API which requires an API key.
Maybe those hints prevent the plugin from displaying the weather.

What we need is an re-written plugin. I'd donate some money. I tweaked
WeatherTime to fit on a Boom's screen but my knowledge is too limited to
re-write it to use Wunderground's new API.

I'm now getting the same issue. Looking at the xml feed in a browser
works
(http://api.wunderground.com/auto/wui/geo/WXCurrentObXML/index.xml?query=EGBB),
but not on the Squeezebox. It appears to fail for all UK locations that
I try, but works fine if I set it to ones in the US or Canada and even
one I tried in Germany. The feed in the browser compared to working
locations (such as
http://api.wunderground.com/auto/wui/geo/WXCurrentObXML/index.xml?query=CYUL
mentioned above) looks the same. I also tried nptohc's hack of the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New WeatherTime Screensaver adds graphical forecasts

Yes, this one works too. In the meantime I experimented with things like
NYC and they were fine.
For some reason, the Dorval international airport code (CYUL) is not
recognized anymore.
I managed to find a local (and closer to me) weather station and entered
that code and it worked fine.
It's probably a temporary bug that CYUL isn't recognized anymore. Until
that interface is finally deprecated for good.

For reference, here's the URL I extracted out of the plugin:
http://api.wunderground.com/auto/wui/geo/ForecastXML/index.xml?query=KOQT

Simply replace KOQT by anything else to see if it still works.

Hi,

Anybody else getting the "? no forecast available" since yesterday?
In the logs, I see the following:

[13-12-12 08:21:21.8307] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1243) Warning:

location is probably unknown!

Over and over, since 2013/12/11 16:44 (almost 16 hours).

Haven't had time to investigate beyond this.

SlimServer Version: 7.6.2 - r33593 - x86 Ubuntu 10.04 - EN - utf8

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New WeatherTime Screensaver adds graphical forecasts

2013-11-07 Thread chris.mason

Fantastic, this works! Screwed it up a few times, but got it working.

A point of clarification - the current weather is separate from the
forecast I think.

I have left the same settings for forecast - does it use city name or
code to get the forecast, do you know?

For example, my city is Reading, UK, but I have to use an airport
(EGLL), which is a good few miles away.

Lastly, do you know how different town names are determined? e.g. there
a few 'Readings' around the world.

Chris.

For the time being - for those of us who are impatient - I have fiddled
around all night and came up with this:

Find the file Plugins-WeatherTime-Plugin.par in your plugins directory
and use a program that handles zip files to extract it to a folder.
Inside the extracted zip - navigate to /lib/Weather/Wunderground.pm and
open it with a text editor (I recommend PSPad on Windows)

Find line 69
Code:

my $CURRENT_QUERY_URI

and change the url listed in there to
Code:

http://api.wunderground.com/weatherstation/WXCurrentObXML.asp?ID=

 add line 70
Code:

my $STATIC_WU_ID = "IDUNSGRE1";

 - change IDUNSGRE1 to the ID of the PWS you are interested in.
Make line 168 read as follows:
Code:

my $currentlocation = $CURRENT_QUERY_URI . $STATIC_WU_ID;

At this point - these are all the changes necessary - however if like me
- you require the displayed current temperature to be more like -6.6
instead of -7 you can edit the file /lib/Plugins/WeatherTime/Plugin.pm
at line 2219 to read as follows:

Code:

$gxline1 = sprintf( '%-6.5s% .1fg%s',

Finally rezip everything back up (making sure you preserve the directory
structure properly) - if the file gets the extension .zip rename it to
.par
Stop Squeezecenter and copy the file back to the plugins folder (note
you can rename the original .par file so you can always restore it if
you break it), dinally restart squeezecenter and you should have
something that looks a bit like15281

I was on the plugins page, and maybe there was an update (I did
nothing) because it said to restart the server to activate changes. As
soon as I did so, this plugin would not load. I had to reboot the
server. There is a bug somewhere. Was the WeatherTime plugin updated??

In a nutshell you did exactly the same as me.
It's probably the still running process what disturbs the correct
loading of the weathertime module.

Had the same problem yesterday.
The solution for me was:
stop the squeezeboxserver service
Code:

service squeezeboxserver stop

check if it really is no longer running by:
Code:

ps -fe | grep squeezebox | grep -v grep

if this still gives you a proces related to squeezeboxserver: kill it:
Code:

kill -9 processid

processid is the second field in the output of 'ps -fe | grep squeeze'
Now start the squeezeboxserver service
Code:

service squeezeboxserver start

In my case the weathertime plugin was functioning correctly again...

Nope, this is a serverside application. It needs a local Squeezebox
server.
for installation you will have to add another plugins repository to the
list You can do this on the settingspage for plugins. Once that's done
the installation is easy.

I found this really annoying when Weather Underground was off for most

I really wish that there was an easy way to incorporate non-blocking

script which solves this problem. I applied it to the original script

It now works really well on my Boom. If I understood the changes

WeatherUndergro instead fo WeatherUnderground. It seemed to me that the

Interesting. At least it's out there now in case others run into this.
Initially I suspected squeezeboxserver.

Thanks for confirming.

I'm afraid, this is by (bad) design. Mea culpa (though it was initially
introduced by a third party component).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New WeatherTime Screensaver adds graphical forecasts

2010-04-27 Thread maggior

Has anybody noticed that when running 7.5.0 and WeatherTime cannot
retrieve the weather that it causes long dropouts (~30 seconds) in the
audio that is being played back?

I noticed this when I first installed 7.5.0 and loaded up this plugin.
Then the problem went away after I did some other things (clear cache,
uninstall old, install clean, etc.). Then, last week there was a day
where my ISP was down and the problem came back. I recalled that when
I last had the problem that my weather wasn't working (? on the
screen), so I disabled the plugin and the problem went away. Still
hasn't come back after pretty heavy usage.

For now I've disabled the plugin because uninterrupted playback of my
music is more important than having weather on my SB3s.

Has anybody else noted this behavior?

Sorry, I can't tell. If r152 matches the given date and version, just
give it a try. The code will probably detect the boom and continue to
work on SB3 unaltered.

Just to clarify we apply this diff against r152?

And Boom support won't be part of main release, so I'm assuming if you
mod it for the boom it won't look right on the SB3? Is this correct?

That would be helpful. ;)

You've probably already seen them, but in case you haven't there is at
least one thread in either this forum or the Boom forum with various
"recipes" for using SDT on a Boom. You can simply follow the guide
without having to understand all the options, although after you've
followed the guide you will understand the options better. If one of
those recipes isn't exactly what you want then you may still be able to
modify to your taste by just substituting some of the variables.

If you really want to look into the code, maybe the changes Andreas
Steinmetz made to support his boom and kindly sent it to me, will help
you. It is a diff against Weathertime 2.2.1 as of 06/10/09.

Sorry for not being more specific/helpful!

Thanks for caring :)

I tried using SDT, but I just can't understand how to use it. I tried
once or twice.
Furthermore, I won't understand how it can be without any
documentation, when its configuration is so cryptic. Hence I decided not
to use SDT.

WeatherTime is perfectly easy to use and configure, I will stick with
it for the time being. I wish it can be augmented to support the Boom. I
guess I'll try looking into the code, one of these days.

Although I like WeatherTime for my SB2 and SB3, I find that the
SuperDateTime plugin is better at providing the flexibility needed to
put the necessary weather information on the Boom's smaller screen. Give
it a look.

For the radio you should be using this one:

WeatherTime is just for the 'older' devices like Boom or Classic

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: New WeatherTime Screensaver adds graphical forecasts

2010-01-14 Thread orphess

No matter what city or citycode I enter, the plugin continues to receive
data for the default city (whichever that is). Other settings, like
metric and wind info, do update though. Why is this?

I've tried removing the plugin -> cleaning out all plugin related data
on drive -> reinstalling. Still no go.

Ideas anyone, please?

I'm running SB server v7.4.1 (r28947) and WeatherTime v2.2.2.

Cheers!

Guys/Gals,

I know I should be searching the thread, I'm lazy.

What can be done to have the plugin work on the Boom ?
Is it a matter of packing smaller icons as custom characters ?
Of adding player type detection (to use the big icons on SB3s) ?
What about the asyncHTTP thing ?

I miss WeatherTime on my Boom, really. The Boom wakes me up in the
morning, having weather info on the screen would be just great.
