Such a shame. I will keep everything crossed that this is a short term
hiatus before there's a viable solution.

Thank you so much, BPA, for your fantastic and much appreciated efforts
over the years. iPlayer Extras was superb, and is much missed.

Catchup of only 7 days is available through BBCiPlayer plugin.

Until BBC announces new replacement API it is unlikley that catchup will
be comparable with 30 days on iPlayer. BBC promised the new API in 2015
- it is there just BBC won't let public use it, just commercial services
and aggregators.

Well at least (thanks to you, Triode, Mr Herger and other geeks) we are
in with a fighting chance of hanging onto their coat tails.

One would hope after the fiasco of last years changes, when a lot of
hardware was turned into junk, the BBC would be more open as to what
they were doing. Howeverthe the only missive I have seen so far is from
the Audio Factory Manager's blog - Jim Simmons here
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/internet/entries/f21e6a49-e53c-44f0-8b01-09890a8fed8f
(Audio Factory I believe is the BBC's name for thieir new streaming
solutions).

Long term my big worry is they encrypt streams (possibly as a
consequence of changes to the BBC licensing fee structure). Hopefully
radio will be exempt, but even then, they may wish to restrict how
people interact with their services and only allow "approved" methods
possibly via "approved" hardware manufacturer's

Yes - 404 problem has returned.

Program which I was playing late last night from a menu has now gone.

Interesting is that the 404 only occurs at the program levels - in
previous occurance it was a higher level. This problem is similar to
the BBCiPlayer feed not finding DASH programs.

Whatever the cause - it is a BBC issue and time will tell if it is
temporary or permanent.

2016-04-15 Thread farrina

FYI

This morning I have been recording previous editions of "Pick of the
Pops" on BBC R2 by way of the splendid BBC iPlayer Extra Plugin (v
1.9.3)

Path

BBCiPlayerExtra
Radio 2 A-Z
P programs
Pick of the Pops

It was gving me a full DASH stream (I am in the UK), however the
listings appear to have dissappeared sometime this morning as I am now
seeing a 404 error at the Pick of the Pops directory level :-(

Randomly sampling by station wthin iPlayerExtra I am seeing the
occasional hit eg DASH still working for

Radio 4 A-Z
B programs
BBC Inside Science (last three in list are streaming okay)

but others are missing (there are to many choices to fully/accurately
sample)

I presume it will be something at the BBC end

For the record I am running Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.0 -
1433513811 on a Synology NAS (along with BBC iPlayer plugin v 1.4.7)
Have restarted LMS service on the NAS

Actual player is SqueezePlay 1.0.0.1 running on Windows 10

Fingers crossed BBC may unbreak it as it was all going splendidly.

Regards

Alan

That said, BBC have made changes to implementation of the web interface
and no longer uses the APIs that Extra plugins uses. The older APIS were
not working this morning are now working. So perhaps it is a stay of

It's still working for me based in the UK. I've tried numerous
programmes and most have have played but I do occasionally get this
error message when selecting. "There was an error loading the remote
feed for : (500 Internal Server Error)" However if I keep on trying to
select I do eventually get a choice. Also cleared the cache and
re-started LMS and can still play programmes randomly selected from the
menu.

Good.

AFAICT , the BBC have stopped serving up RTMP URLs on web browser
interface and now offer HDS or DASH.

Last year the BBC said they would stop streaming Flash and it looks like
this is the changeover. Users using older (i.e. non HTML5) browser will
still use a Flash plugin and so will not notice the change.

They are as a result of BBC slow migration, mixed uses, mixed sources
and user's feedback who wanted more options. At the moment I suggest
just use DASH > HLS for both on demand and Live (LIve could have MP3 as
well as final backup) and see if you get any problems. I am not in the
UK so I cant say which formats has best speeds (if any) but for non UK
DASH provides the best quality.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iPlayer Extras - problem?

2016-03-30 Thread bpa

The BBCiPlayerExtra plugin uses many web browser menus which are
unspported by BBC and so some can go out of date or change without
notice. The BBC web browser only serves up Flash and DASH streams. So
if BBCiPlayer plugin for on demand does not have DASH or Flash/AAC or
BBCiPlayerExtra setting has DASH disabled - then streams found using
the BBCiPlayerExtra plugin are unlikely to play.

There are two issues being reported.

The 404 - I don't get these errors so I think it is local/BBC. However
once it has happened the error may be cached and it will appear until
casche expires - each time it is tried I think cache timer is reset. If
you have a 404 - Stop LMS , delete cache.db and restart LMS and see if
problem persists.

Not being able to play streams - this needs more investigation but I
think the BBC may have changed their Flash format. BBC's play is to
move from Flash to DASH in stages since DASH is not widely supported.
So BBC is using Apple's HLS (for iOS) and Adobe HDS (Android ?) as
alternatives to Flash. Playing Audio on older browsers need Flash
Plugins. Newer browser which support HTML5 Web Audio (and therefore
DASH) often have Flash disabled by default.

BBC used to use Flash /AAC requires special Flash servers. BBC have
been testing Flash plugin but playing HDS stream - these server are
comparable ot HLS and DASH serves and perform better than Flash
servers.

I think BBC has changed over from Flash/AAC to a Flash plugin playing
HDS which means no falsh protocol (i.e. no rtmp urls). The BBCiPlayer
plugin cannot play HDS streams.

This needs more investigation which I cannot do until later today.

OK, thanks bpa: I changed the BBC iPlayer settings, On Demand Stream
Preference, to HLS > DASH > MP3 > FlashAAC > FlashMP3, and all seems to
be working now.

Is that the best setting to use? I'm a bit baffled by the long list of
formats there. Do I need them all? There are certainly shorter lists in
the options.

The only reason I can think for having these DASH versions is that I did
change the bpa repository a while back, because I read a post here that
I thought implied I ought to. I didn't intend to have the DASH versions.
But ... now I have them, I suppose I can celebrate being a member of the

Think the OP has used the wrong pathway:

I have just clicked through this,

> Home > BBCiPlayerExtra > Latest by Station > Radio 3 Latest > Radio 3
> Jazz > Jazz Record Requests, 19/03/2016
> Play

and the program is playing.
I'm using the DASH install with output set to DASH>HSL

Ronnie.

Just checking this out - on-demand set to Dash.

Following the OP's steps -

List headed by "Jazz Library" appears.

Selecting this produces:

All other selections produce further lists

Both the plugins you have installed are the beta DASH enabled version of
the plugins. Whether you choose to use to DASH, HLS or Flash streams is
a setting but some combination of settings will result in no audio.

Have you tried changing the BBCiPLayer On-demand setting to include
DASH and see if the programs play.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iPlayer Extras - problem?

2016-03-30 Thread whitman

No problem.

For example ...
Click BBC iPlayer Extras
List headed by "Latest by Station" appears.
Click Radio 3 A-Z.
List headed by "A programs" appears.
Click J programs.
List headed by "Jazz Library" appears.
Click Jazz Record Requests.
List headed by "Jazz Record Requests 26/03/2016" appears.
Click Jazz Record Requests 19/03/2016
Show page appears.
Click play symbol.
Time readout stays on 0:00. No movement.

By the way, I still don't understand what you meant when you said <> I assumed I am using
the non-DASH version because I haven't installed the experimental DASH
one.

Why did you say you are using the non DASH version of the
BBCiPlayerExtra plugin - that is an older version than listed ?

The plugin uses web pages layous and these change sometimes only in one
area.
I'd like to trry to reproduce the problem - can you give in detail which
menus and which program you selected to get the error messages shown in
the log.

That "feels" like an out of date plugin but the last change I had to
make to the plugin was back around Nov/Dec'15 so I'mnot sure why
something should break recently.
What version of BBCiPlayer and BBCiPlayerExtra plugin are you running ?

Apologies, bpa, for not clarifying the problem.

In all cases, I get to the list of shows, I click on a show, the display
appears to show the usual connection, but no sound.

I just tried to play a couple of R3 shows, and the log has this ...

Sorry, It's not clear what's not working.

Do you fail to get a list of the shows ?
or
Do you get a list of the shows and when you try to play any of them they
don't play ?

Any messages in the log ?

Bpa ...

I get shows from today. Fail.

Schedules fail, categories fail, A-Zs fail.

The "On Demand Stream Preference" in the BBCiPlayer plugin reads HLS >
MP3 > FlashAAC > Flash MP3.

The only general change on my Mac recently has been that I've updated
from OSX El Capitan 10.11.3 to 10.11.4.

Puzzling.

A selection play OK for me.

Do you get any shows from today ?
Which menus fail - schedules, categories or A-Z ?
Make sure the "Listen Again" preference in the BBCiPlayer plugin has HLS
and Flash.

I'm still using the non-Dash version of bpa's BBC iPlayer Extras plugin.
Nothing doing today: not a single show will play. Before I dig deeper,
is anyone else having problems ... or is it just me?
