I can wait. I am satisfied with the current quality of Spotify. Ogg Vorbis 320 works very well. In fact I think the most important aspect here is the mastering process. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Best online streaming service with plugin for LMS
Hi guys, Read this whole thread and found it interesting. Also sorry for for my Q isn't 100% related to the OP's Q. I myself really not interested in any streaming service, have my own library that I'm more than pleased with. Anyway I'm huge fan of our "hobby" and more or less a music nerd and so are many of my friends. Sad thing is that most of them are hooked on "ease of use" more than quality of music (or SQ if you like). I've tried to talk them into our little "community" but really have no arguments why they should have a squeezebox type player. Many I know have a huge CD collection just laying around stored somewhere and I find it quite sad that instead of ripping their CD's to uncompressed they listen to the same music as mp3 streams (in the worst case) on their phone thru shitty headphones or maybe thru a BT to analogue device on their hifi. I guess what I'm kind of asking is if there is any good arguments to play their spotify stuff thru LMS instead? E.g more functionality? It seems there is plug-ins they might give more functions? Anotherthing I always wondered about is how does spotify and the likes work with volume adjustment when only using their apps as playing device? Is there replay gain embedded in their streams? Or perhaps some sort of compressor in their official apps? For me it would be unthinkable to not have a replay gain function. doggod's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=46431 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114890 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I think this merits a new thread - I am interested in views on this. I use Spotify, largely to listen to music before I decide whether or not to buy it (generally either download or vinyl, rarely CD). I think this remunerates the artists better than Spotify plays alone. I wouldn't choose Spotify over owning a collection, because online services may turn out to be rather ephemeral. I also like to fine tune tags to my preference. I find out about new (to me) music to check out via several source - magazines (Mojo for classic rock, Wire for the more experimental), various websites and their mailings e.g. Bandcamp, recommendations from various music stores, and of course the 'What am I listening to' thread on these forums. Occasionally Spotify suggests something interesting to me, but not often because I generally don't listen to Spotify-curated playlists. I have in the past shared Spotify playlists with friends, which is useful. I dont have to go to a shop or wait on the mail. 4.With a large family with different music taste. It is much easier/cheaper to build a very varied music collection with all from kids music to boybands and classical It is not only plusses though. There is something special about putting on an album that has been payed for and actually hold the physical cover in your hands. I dont really use Tidal for music discovery. I dont feel its very good. I mostly use local radiostation for that. mrbang's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71807 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114890 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Since I started using Qobuz in earnest at c£15pm I haven't bought any new CDs at all but I've listened to a hell of a lot of newly released albums and because I have "favourited" them they appear in my LMS library to play whenever I want to play them be it on my HiFi or on a simple SB Radio. There are plenty of "Stations" to choose from. The biggest plus to me is the integration with DSTM/LastMix - I'll play an album or a few tracks from my collection and LastMix will then carrying on adding to the playlist indefinitely from both my library and from Qobuz. I've discovered loads of new stuff this way. Why not try a free trial and find out? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Best online streaming service with plugin for LMS
I have Spotify, Deezer, Tidal and, to me, they have different strength and weaknesses. Spotify. Best playlists. Their algorithm is the best, probably supported by the largest number of listeners. Good LMS integration but no hi-fi tier at present Deezer. Best search function. Unmatched if you have a favorite artist and want to access music where he/she is the contributing artist rather than the main artist. Search reveals the largest number of albums at least for the genres that I like. deezer flow is very very good as it gives you a recap of your past playlists. hif-fi tier available but poor LMS integration with circular menus Tidal. They started the hi-fi thing. we would be stuck with 320k without them. no mqa integration with LMS but mqa found annoying by some. equally annoying ownership. but supposedly pays the artists better and has very good LMS integration. in terms of sound: deezer>=tidal>spotify mcduman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66702 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114890 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Best online streaming service with plugin for LMS
I think one also has to consider which of the streaming services that will be present in 5 years or so. I've got maybe 40 playlists that I've maintained for next to 10 years and I wouldn't want to have to start all over because my service shuts down. The two services that are very likely to still be here in 5 years are Spotify and Apple music. //Johan Windows 10 LMS 8.0 Local Player Plugin (Squeezelite) Intel Compute Stick ButC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57330 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114890 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Best online streaming service with plugin for LMS
You asked about integration. Here one would have to say Spotify probably has the edge but it depends how you intend to use the service. I have both Spotify for historic reasons and Qobuz. Of the two I use Qobuz far more but Im using both to play stuff entirely from within LMS and I dont use Spotify Connect. There is no equivalent for Qobuz. I do however do all my adding through either the Qobuz or Spotify official apps as its easy / easier to find something in either then favourite it and then go to LMS and its available to play even before an Online Music Library rescan. You can add stuff via LMS but it can be cumbersome and isnt necessarily intuitive. By the way why cant the Deezer and Tidal plugins work like Qobuz without mysb dependency? mrbang's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71807 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114890 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Best online streaming service with plugin for LMS
I am also interested is streaming service that works with LMS, but the focus is on ease of use. Of course "ease of use" is subjective. For many people on this forum with their technical skills, all might considered easy to them!I have done the ABx listening tests so lossless or 64 bit at a 1.2 million sample rate (yes, sarcasm) is not my highest priority. However, the stream should not be some crappy low-res compressed MP3; I can notice the difference. I thought about Tidal, but the MQA debacle (or some would say scam) turned me off to that service. That leaves Spotty, Qobuz, or Deezer. Differences on integration and ease of use with LMS? Thanks! Hi: Spotty plug-in for LMS works very well. In version 8 the streaming and local library can used as one. You can mix local references with streaming references. Later this year Spotify is going to be lossless. They announced the name of the service. Spotify HIFI. Regards. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Best online streaming service with plugin for LMS
Qobuz for me every day - Hirez streamed as pure flac, decent price, online integration works really well. I used to be on Tidal, but hirez in MQA is a non-starter. psketch's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56555 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114890 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I am looking for the streaming service that has the best (most stable) integration with LMS and without requiring signup on mysqueezebox.com. Do you have any recommendations?
