Hi, thanks, so there is no way of archiving the file analysis in the tags without the MusicIP mixer GUI unforunately... -- Tartifless Tartifless's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37024 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88574 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The SBS MusicIP plugin regularly checks if the MusicIP library has changed and if it has it will trigger a rescan in SBS to get the changes. I think the check interval is 1 hour by default but it can be changed in the MusicIP plugin settings page through the "MusicIP Reload Interval" parameter. However, remember that the MusicIP library will change when you play a song or change a rating because then the "MusicIP Statistics Exporter" in Custom Scan plugin will update the MusicIP library. So you probably don't want to set the "MusicIP Reload Interval" too short because then the server is going to rescan all the time. But I'm not completely sure about this so if someone knows for sure reads this, please confirm it. There was a discussion on these forums about PUID and GenPUID a few months ago. So based on this, I think you can automate point 3 but not 1 and 2. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Moving to Customscan integration with MusicIP questions...
Hi, Thanks for all this, so basically here is what I will do: - SBS will be my basis for ratings for I will activate dynamic export to MUSICIP - MusicIP is ONLY used for audio fingerprinting and use of spicefly sugarcube, so I will scan only mixable state (as I do today) Now my next question: Currently I do the following: 1) Tag music with Musicbrainz Picard 2) Analyze music with MIP headless 3) Import music in SBS Would there be a way to do step 2 and 3 automatically ? (using GENPUID for example or anything else) My wish would be to have also the analysis archived in the file, for the next time I'll update or change hardware. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Moving to Customscan integration with MusicIP questions...
Tartifless;638801 Wrote: > > - What scan plugin do I have to activate in customscan ? > If you want to copy ratings from SBS to MusicIP, you would enable "MusicIP Statistics Export". If you want to copy ratings from MusicIP to SBS (including TrackStat), you would enable "MusicIP Statistics Import". If I remember correctly, the default SBS scanner will import ratings into SBS database if MusicIP integration is enabled, but it will only affect TrackStat ratings for unrated tracks. TrackStat data for rated tracks will only be updated if you have activated the "MusicIP Statistics Import" module. TrackStat ratings are stored separately from SBS ratings, the reason for this is to avoid that the standard SBS scanner doesn't overwrite the invaluable TrackStat data during scanning with data from RATING tags, iTunes or MusicIP. So if you like to change ratings through the MuiscIP application user interface, you will need "MusicIP Statisics Import" activated but if you only plan to change ratings through SBS you don't need it to be activated. The "MusicIP Statisics Export" module will overwrite any existing ratings in MusicIP, this is ok as long as you have the correct ratings in SBS. If your correct ratings are in MusicIP you want to do an import through "MusicIP Statistics Import" module first. If you want a two way solution, where you can change ratings both in SBS and in MusicIP and always keep both in sync, that's theoretically possible by enabling both "MusicIP Statistics Export" and "MusicIP Statistics Import" modules. I think there are some users that run it this way but it's a bit risky since there are going to be conflicts if a specific track rating has been changed in both SBS and MusicIP simultaneously. In a two-way solution it's important to configure the "Scanning order in automatic and "Scan All"" option in Custom Scan for these modules so the import executes before the export, the reason being that the import module have some built-in merging logic based on last modification time while the export module always will overwrite existing data. The safe approach which I'd recommend, is to change ratings through SBS and only activate the "MusicIP Statistics Export" module to make sure they are transfered to MusicIP and can be used in MusicIP mixing/playlist logic. You should activate the "Dynamically update statistics" in the "MusicIP Statistics Export" module to make the synchronization happen continuously. I'd also recommend that you configure the MusicIP plugin in its "Only read mixable status from MusicIP" mode. If you decide to use the "MusicIP Statistics Import" module, make sure you take a TrackStat backup first so you can revert if something goes wrong. If you have nightly backups configured in TrackStat, you can just make sure that you keep the backup file from the night before. -- erland Erland Isaksson ('My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info)) (Developer of 'many plugins/applets' (http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/User:Erland). Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Moving to Customscan integration with MusicIP questions...
Thanks but that don't answer all of my questions regarding what I want to achieve: Let me proceed by steps, currently I do this: 1) Tagging files with MusicBrainz Picard 2) Move files to Music folder 3) Using MIP headless to analyse and validate tracks 4) Scan for changes in Squeezebox server What I would like to do is automatize steps 3 and 4, would that be correct: 3) Use GENPUID as scheduled task (this would also allow to archive analysis) 4) Schedule library updates in SBS My requirements and doubts: - I would like removed folders to disappear from m3lib file (musicIP database) and from SBS - I need MIP analyses to be archived - I would like in the future to use Squeezebox server as basis for song ratings so the first part I'm trying to achieve here must be compliant with this future need Is my approach correct by using GenPUID scheduled task ? -- Tartifless Tartifless's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=37024 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=88574 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Also if you know SQL the SQL playlist plugin is also good. You can setup scanner in squeezebox to only scan the musicip status for your songs. This should update as and when you process track via musicip in squeezebox. [SlimDevices: Plugins] Moving to Customscan integration with MusicIP questions...
Hello, I have a setup based on SBS 7.5.5 and MusicIP headless working together on a WHS 2011 box. Now I would like to go deeper in integration by using trackstat and customscan to integrate everything and make playlists based on playcount/ratings, etc... Currently I haven't managed any ratings so far. My goal would be: - Automatically setting up ratings based on the length of the file that I listen to when playing a file (I understand Trackstat can do that) - Exporting realtime those ratings in MusicIP so that a future rescan will not erase them What would be the requirements to do this, is my following idea right: - Install trackstat - Install customscan - Configure trackstat to dynamically update ratings - Configure customscan to dynamically copy ratings to MIP My questions are also: - What scan plugin do I have to activate in customscan ? - What is the best way to update MusicIP information in SBS on a scheduled basis (without erasing ratings) ? (basically I would like to be able to have my music in SBS before MIP analyzis and update it later with MIP fingerprint when it has been analyzed without deleting trackstat info + ratings).
