I'm just staring with MusicIP now - what are these entries for? And
should they really be next to browse options? AFAICS, they don't list
music.

*Material debug:* 1. Launch via http: //SERVER:9000/material/?debug=json
2. Open browser's developer tools 3. Open console tab in developer tools
4. REQ/RESP messages sent to/from LMS will be logged here.

Charles, I'd like to see your Sugarcube menus while using the Material
skin. I'm guessing if the change works for Material, then it would also
work for iPeng and Squeeze Ctrl, both of which I also use and don't
currently show your Sugarcube menus. Were you able to ascertain whether
the change is akin to an explosion in a paint factory?

Thanks for asking. Unfortunately not. I tried every variations of the
path description, but MIP and LMS wouldn't communicate properly. On
Sunday I tried to install MIP directly on my Raspi. Until now without
success, but I have still a few things to check and it seems that
there's a problem for MIP to access my music.

2. What are you using on your Raspberry Pi? PicorePlayer or another
Linux-based solution. If PicorePlayer, running MusicIP on it will be
virtually impossible, as it's based on one of the "difficult"
distributions to master ;)
3. When looking at the MusicIP GUI, add the columns "Status" & "Enabled"
to your view. The result should be something like this:
29537

If all this is as it should be, the chances that you get "Random"
results from MusicIP are vanishingly small in my experience. What you
should know however is that by default MusicIP, and by extension
Spicefly SugarCube is genre-agnostic. This means that if a metalcore
band releases a purely acoustic track, that it could very well get mixed
in along some of these

OK, you're now connected to the MusicIP server on your Windows machine,
let's take this a bit further now ;)
1. Check if MusicIP is actually working for creating mixes:

download the replacement interface
-Extract the downloaded zip-file to "C:\Program Files

Files\MusicIP\MusicIP Mixer\server" (32-bit windows), overwriting the

-Go to"File -> MusicIP Headless Service -> Show MusicIP Headless Web

-On this page, click "Test Mix Creation". You should get something like

The connection settings are under the Advanced Tab -> Spicefly SugarCube
and not under the player menu as they are not player specific.

You may need to use Dynamic Path Conversion if LMS and MIP headless are
running on separate machines, further details here;

The Material skin seems to be hard coded from what I saw quickly in the
code. It doesn't seem to respect the standard
Slim::Web::Pages->addPageLinks functions then all plugins that have line
items announce. If so it would appear but then I don't know the impact
of that which might be like an explosion in a paint factory.

When it comes to interfacing with LMS, Material is technically closer to
SqueezePlay than the web UI. It doesn't use web pages, but the menu
system used on the devices etc. You'd have to base your plugin on
Slim::Plugin::OPMLBased and provide hooks for those menus.

The Material skin seems to be hard coded from what I saw quickly in the

For the DSTM, what additional functionality would that add? SCube has
had Dynamic Queuing since 2010 which will only queue a track if there is
no next track in the playlist and release 5.01 will now ignore Spotify
and all the previous streaming services I think were already covered.

In terms of multi-genre I have no idea tbh. I have one genre per album
(idv2.3 tags) which works well enough for my 30k library. I never
listen to music other than via SCube/MusicIP apart from the occasional
full album, so I don't really know how well it works or the caveats

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP / SugarCube settings suggestions?

2020-01-30 Thread wowo

On topic.
On my desktop with Squeezelite I use now the following SugarCube
settings:
SugarCube Mix Mode: Freestyle Mode

FreeStyle Random Track Selection: Specific Yer Range (Strict)
Random Mixing Start Year: 1985
Random Mixing End Year: 1995
FreeStyle Track Selection Type: Any Track (Default)
FreeStyle Track Length Preference: Any Length (Disabled)

SugarCube Enhancements
Dynamic Queuing: Only Queue a New Track if Playing the last Track on the
Playlist: On
Block Artist Repeating for x Tracks: 5
Always Block Selected Artist: None
Always Block this Genre: None
Block Album Repeating for x Tracks: 100
Remember This Many Played Tracks: 100

@cparker
Good that SugarCube sees my year tags (TDRC or TDOR?; ID3v2.4), so
FreeStyle Mix works great.
I find it strange that MusicIp Mixer 1.9 beta6 (Windows 10) does *not*
see the year tags.
Is that because I am working with ID3v2,4 or is it an known bug?

Sad. But it is as it is.:)
I am working now with the first genre as the dominate genre.
For instance Ambient, Blues, Chanson, Christmas, Classical, Country,
Cursus, Electronic, Fado, Flamenco, Folk, Hip-Hop, Indie, Jazz, Nature,
Pop, NMIP (No Music IP), Other, Reggae, Rock, Rock and Roll, Samples,
Ska, Soul, Soundtrack, Spoken Word, Toplist (oa Rolling Stone Magazine's

This is on top of my wishlist for Sugarcube now :-)

MusicIP doesn't handle multiple genres, the best I have is a workaround
that makes the last genre the dominate genre.

@cparker.
When I have tagged more Genres to a Music File Spicefly SugarCube,
MusicIP Mixer and MusicIP Headless Server only show the first Genre.
For instance:
I have files tagged with: NMIP\\Classical and also files with only the
NMIP tag.
In LMS webinterface I can see both the separate Genres: NIMP and
separate Classical
In Spicefly SugarCube, MusicIP Mixer and MusicIP Headless Server I could
only see the NMIP genre but not the Classical genre.
Is this normal behaviour?
Could MusicIP only handle the first genre?

SugarCube doesn't use the MusicIP plugin you don't need it installed.
It queries the MusicIP Web API directly so you don't need that scan.

I have not notice your behaviour maybe your your setup is different.
I do the analyzing of the Music Files on a Virtual Windows 10 OS (4
cores enabled):
Total Songs: 32.214
Ready songs (mixable): 23.925
Unanalyzable songs: 15

After that I copy the default.m3lib to my _NAS_MusicIP_Headless_Server_.
After adding the music path (adding tracks) I have:
Total songs: 32.532
Mixable songs: 23.925
Songs to validate: 8.607
I do *not* touch the start validation button because everything was done
correct on the Windows Machine. It does *not* change the amount of the
mixable songs and it only uses a lot of RAM of my NAS.

I never do a "new and changed" scan. If I have added a lot of music, I
only use "Delete Collection and scan everything". The scanning time of
my Nas is 1,5 hour (I do this during the night).

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP / SugarCube settings suggestions?

2020-01-28 Thread wowo

I have a collection of 2000 albums with 32.000 songs of 700 artists.
20% of the songs are compilations of various artists:
Motown Hit series, De Pre Historie, TMF/Yorin/Radio 538 Hitzone, Dance
Classics series etc
Compilations of various artists I do *not* want in my mixes and also not
Classical and Jazz Music.
The music I do not want in my mixes I have marked with the genre NIMP
(=No Music IP ;))
I am a Linux user so I use Puddletag (“similar” as Mp3tag Windows) for
that.
For instance: Classical music I mark with the genres NMIP\\Classical (so
the first is always NMIP)
In MusicIP Mixer:
Preferences > Exclusions > Don’t Analyze Songs Like This > Match any of
the following conditions: Genre contains NMIP
So all the music I do not want, are not analyzed by MusicIP Mixer and
are also not in my Spicefly SugarCube mixes.

If you do want to analyze all your music you can use the genre tag NMIP
in Spicefly Sucarcube:
SugarCube Enhancements > Always Block this Genre: NMIP

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP / SugarCube settings suggestions?

2020-01-27 Thread Matt Drown

Thanks for the update to the plugin, and thanks for the settings
suggestion. I've tuned up the "mix style" (similar to artist) to see if
that changes things a bit. I have a large collection, but with 1/3 to
1/2 being compilations of tracks, and I wonder if that causes some
issues with the mixing. Will see how that impacts the mixes, I
previously had that set to 0 as I wasn't concerned about track to track
being "like the artist".

I've now got it set to MixStyle=150, and MixVariety=3, and MixBy=Song.
I had dynamic mode, and most everything else disabled, or off.

Anyone else have a "favorite" way to set musicip mixes?

Next step, fixing the UI to change the Next/Previous track to the
"proper" images, |< and >|, not << >>.

Hey,

about getting less "chaotic" results, I for one use MusicIP filters that
you can then select in SugarCube's settings (on Player level)
You could also try Recipes, ...

about picking the first choice, have a look a the "SugarCube wobble"
setting.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP / SugarCube settings suggestions?

2020-01-24 Thread Matt Drown

I've got MusicIP server setup on centos box, with LMS running also.
I've spent the horsepower saving musicip data into the 80k songs. And
now I'm trying to configure plugins to do something useful. I've gotten
past the technical hurdles of 64bit inodes, directory names, etc, I can
get suggestions directly from the musicip server running, but there's a
lot of knobs to tune, and trying to figure out some better docs on what
they do to generate something a little less chaotic then Lords of Acid
-> Ricky Martin -> Chemical Brothers. (It does seem to sort of work, I
pick reggae, I get reggae suggestions, it's not random)

I'm also testing out SugarCube and finding that it seems to generate a
bunch of choices, then always picks the first one, and then keeps
putting it in the playlist if I scan forward on the song, which does
make testing entertaining. Is this normal? (I already spent too much
time trying to go through the search function and the 75+ pages here on
the forum post)

Hoping to get some people's favorite/default settings they use to listen
to music. Any suggestions would be welcome.

(I haven't had a chance to install essentia/musly, they are on my todo
list still)
