Is the Do not repeat tracks within same playlist option checked ? If it isn't there is a risk that tracks are added to the end of the dynamic playlist before the same track that already was in the playlist has been played. Could this be the issue, or does it really add tracks at the end that you know that you have recently played ? A track is not detected as played until you have played it to the end, so I think that if you have skipped a track it could still be added to the end of the playlist. The risk that the same track is added to the end should be pretty low unless the track Dynamic Playlist can choose among that matches the filter it pretty few. yes, the do not repeat option is checked. I'm pretty sure that I have a large number of tracks that are three star or higher and that haven't been played in the last month. The added problem is that I'm also starting to get tracks added to the playlist that aren't tagged as alternative music tracks-i.e.-other genre tracks are being added to the playlist. The repeating tracks problem has returned and now I want to get to the bottom of it. the pattern seems to be: after a track is played it gets re-added to the bottom of my playlist. I built a random song playlist that only plays three star or higher rated alternative music (genre) tracks that haven't been played for at least four weeks. a follow up erland- by reverting to dynamic playlist 2.4 and with trackstat 2.4 it seems that all is normal again. don't know what the source of the problem was. One request for trackstat: when I select play top rated songs from an album: I get a listing from highest rated to lowest rated. But in my thinking, top rated refers only to the highest rated and not the low rated at all. If you launch it from the Dynamic Playlist menu or from the Dynamic Playlist mixer you can create a new playlist in SQLPlaylist of the type Top rated for album, this playlist type has a minimum rating option. If you launch it from the TrackStat pages, there is no way to do it in the current version. In some TrackStat version far in the future my goal is to make it's behavior more configurable and this will include things like this. After upgrading to 7.2 my sql playlist seems to be broken. I can load a pre-built playlist but now I can't create a new playlist or play any previously saved self-made playlists. What happens ? Don't you see the playlists at all in the interface ? Do you get any error message ? Which SqueezeCenter version were you using before when it worked ? Which SQL Playlist version are you using now when it doesn't work ? hey erland- thanks for your response. I can see all of the template playlists and i can step through the whole process of creating a customized playlist but after hitting save and play nothing happens. If i just select a pre-built/default playlist it plays fine. I think there's no error message on my squeezebox. erland- I was just checking my paths and I see that all of my trackstats got blown out when i upgraded to 7.2. So perhaps after I do a trackstat restore from my backup all will be well with sql. Is the playlist successfully created but nothing happens when you play it ? That is, do you see it in the list of available playlists ? If that's the case, restoring TrackStat ratings might work. If you did an upgrade, you might also be affected by the following bug report: http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=9423 If you are affected by this you should see some warnings from TrackStat at SqueezeCenter startup. I think the consequence of that bug report is that TrackStat ratings won't be shown even though they are in the database. I think a workaround might be to: 1. Make sure you have a TrackStat backup (I'm not sure if you will be able to take a new backup in this situation, so hopefully you already have a fresh one). 2. Shutdown SqueezeCenter 3. Delete the Cache/MySQL directory in the SqueezeCenter installation directory 4. Startup SqueezeCenter 5. Wait for the rescan to finish 6. one more thing erland- it must be my day for troubleshooting... sql is working again but now I'm running into repeated tracks in my playlist. Is there any errors in the SqueezeCenter log ? Make sure you have sett the SqueezeCenter Settings/Logging parameters to Warning or higher so you don't get all the debug messages.
