Thanks Michael, I've sent you the log file and settings screens. For the log I restarted LMS and then tried to login with email and password (these work ok on https://open.spotify.com/ page). There's no input field for Client ID in my settings. I dont see any device to authenticate in my Android Spotify App and in MacOS App neither. But not as the username, but in the appropriate field at the bottom of the settings page. 2. entering Spotify password assigned to my e-mail or client secret assigned to Client ID? (tried both) Authentication requires your Spotify username and password, NOT the client ID/secret. But you should also be able to just fire up a Spotify client on your phone to authenticate. 3. should "Enable Spotify Connect endpoint for this player " setting be on or off? I think you wouldn't even see this unless you were signed in already? It doesn't matter for authentication. 4. "Use fallback access point: - where is this setting? Again: you'll probably only see this once you're signed in. It's towards the bottom of the Spotty settings page. just checked and my QNAP is not arm v7 but armv5tel. I'm sorry, I've pretty much given up on armv5. But then: [23-01-01 22:50:49.3499] Plugins::Spotty::Settings::Auth::handler (83) Authorization failed: spotty v0.12.2 That kind of tells me it's not failing to run the helper, but some of the the params. Please enable logging for plugin.spotty, try auth once again, then send me your server.log.zip (https://www.dropbox.com/request/T3RctyzGgNg0oFDubq6a). Are you using your own client ID? Did you enable "Use fallback access point"? I had three accounts working in Spotty but it's not possible anymore to ad a second account (daughter) or third (son) in Spotty. Are you using your own client ID? As previously mentioned I'm getting authorization failed when trying to manually log on in Spotty. There's also no "authentication device" appearing in my other spotify devices so I can authenticate automatically as in instructions. Michael, does it mean we will no longer be able to use Spotty on older Qnaps? Just as someone reported the app went silent a few months ago and can no longer authenticate. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesn't. Unfortunately Spotty in Connect mode can be a bit erratic. That's a known issue. In your case it's not "always one behind" or something. It's erratic. I think the more interaction there is (jumping around, searching etc.), the more you'd see such issues. If you just let it play it might be ok for quite some time. If you want me to better understand what's going on you'll have to create a meaningful log file which you can comment on: please enable logging for plugin.spotty=INFO (not DEBUG), play around as you just did, then look at the timestamps in server.log and try to align them with what you did when. I shot quite a long video. Throughout the video you will see several cases where Spotify is not in sync with what is being played through the speakers. I hope this video depicts well what I'm experiencing. Thanks! I certainly saw one case - but you scrolled and jumped around for a long time before it happened. Were you looking for one particular album or track which would cause the issue? Just started a new playback of a new album on Spotify on my Mac. While I see the new album and Spotify "thinks" it is playing the first song of the new album, I still listen the previous band. If I now go to "Spotify" on LMS, LMS is displaying the truth, but Spotify on my Mac isn't. I'm sorry, I'm still confused. Did you select the Squeezebox as the Connect device? There is always a previous track when I enable the Spotify Connect on the client side. I don't really know how to make sure that when I click on Spotify Connect, Spotify queue is empty. I can record a video if you want me to. Just start playback of a new album? Please start new playback from your Spotify app. This would be a first track of an album or playlist. What would it show? It can't be one behind right now, can it? Then use the Spotify app still to skip to the next or previous track, jump around the playlist or album. Is it still always one behind what is being played? I've heard about temporary issues. Well, after different tests. Spoty plugin LMS works back again, great ! Except 2 things : This strange name player if I give a name to my library (simple ZicNas) Impossible to use desktop or android spotify app in connect mode for more than one song. Not very friendly when you want to adjust an "on the fly" queue list. It seems to be better synchronised with prebuffer setting. What kind of player are you using? I changed to my user name but still have spotify playlist interrupt after one song in connect mode from the app but It works when I use from spotty aplication in LMS. Connect mode isn't very robust, unfortunately. It works well for some, less so for others. We have a family account, could it be the problem ? I decided to reinstall a "fresh" picoreplayer and lms and trouble seems to happen when I synchronise players and when I give a name to my multimedia library (then the name of player appears in spotify with the name of the library, not the players). That's yet another level... So basically you confirm it does work in its simplest form now. But adding syncing would fail? Are you using the Group Player plugin (or similar, don't remember the name), or LMS' sync interface? As for the name: would you be using some special characters? And as always: anything in server.log? Your description has changed so many times now that I'm sure the log would look different, too. plugin.spotty=INFO might already give you a lot more information, without flooding the log file. Could you let me know how I should restart LMS with that option enabled? do I need to run any CLI command or is that something one does from the web interface on LMS? Hello, I can't anymore stream from spotify to lms and it was perfect from a while (2 years minimum). Hi, I have recently moved from squeezebox (radios + touch) to sonos. But I keep my Touch to control these sonos speakers. I have no problem to read music from my local library on LMS using Upnpbridge. My sonos speakers are simply recognized as a LMS player. Just a final note from me on this. Since changing to transcoding to FLAC rather than playing Ogg natively, there have been no problems whatsoever. Success! Just played two symphonies with longish movements and no skipping. I presume that with Ogg enabled, the decoding is done in the Server and with it disabled, in the SBT. (Or is it the other way round?) If that's right, I wonder why it makes a difference where the decoding is done, and why skipping only happens after 6 minutes or more? I've uploaded the log to your Dropbox. I hope it's the right file. Three issues I'm seeing (two of them totally unrelated to Spotty :-)): - There are quite a few hints about network issues in general. Like inability to connect to mysb.com: Slim::Networking::Async::connect (114) Failed to connect to www.mysqueezebox.com:443, because Net::HTTP: connect: timeout Slim::Networking::SqueezeNetwork::Players::_players_error (377) Unable to get players from SN: Connect timed out: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond., retrying in 86400 seconds If you had intermittent network issues, that certainly wouldn't help with Spotty. - your log file lacks any timestamps. Please shut down LMS, go to the prefs and logs folders and delete log.conf (see Settings/Information for the paths). Then restart LMS. - SongInfo is flooding your log file with errors. 20-30 per minute. Unless you really, really need it, I'd say get rid of it. Unfortunately, I (again) experience the same behaviour on my Windows 10-LMS. The problem was gone for a while, today I listened to Mahler, after around 8 Minutes it skipped to the next movement... I did this Client-ID thing, btw. I've downloaded and enabled Reliable, just in case that had any bearing, and it's still skipping after 6 minutes or so. Spotty doesn't use http. Reliable won't help here. I'm not sufficiently knowledgeable on the logs to know what they're telling me. I can't see a time-stamp so don't know when an event Feel free to upload, and I'll take a look. Still trying to understand what's happening with this. I've downloaded and enabled Reliable, just in case that had any bearing, and it's still skipping after 6 minutes or so. I've tried using Spotify's app on my tablets, and it's fine, no skipping. I've tried using Squeezeplayer on my tablet and sending to the SBT, it skips. The only consistent thing is that whenever Spotify plays through the SBT, it only plays the first 6 minutes or so of a long track. I'm not sufficiently knowledgeable on the logs to know what they're telling me. I can't see a time-stamp so don't know when an event happened, so don't know whether a log entry is relevant, but I accept that could be me, just not understanding the log entries. If anyone can advise exactly where the Spotty logs are kept, I'll have a look and post the relevant parts. Thanks. S. No, the SBT is completely standard. I also tried using Spotify's app on my tablet, and using Connect to the SBT. It still skipped to the next track on the album on long tracks. However, Soundicity was still running whilst Connect was streaming. I'll later try Connect without Soundicity. Perhaps you can check the server log when it happens; that's Settings > Information > scroll to the bottom of the page. Serge, one might have to wait for an hour or so, for any cache to expire, after doing the ID thing. Read through the linked thread to the end.
