ad 1. Please get in touch at info [at] foxhillgate.com so I can send you
a private email.
ad 2. Soundicity itself has been designed as a controller and cannot
playback. However, since there is Squeezeplay/Squeezeslave (?) available
which can be installed on a Windows machine, there is no immediate need
for Soundicity to play back. What I tried at home was to install a
Squeezebox Server, Squeezeplay and Soundicity on one machine. While this
setup has its quirks it allowed me to play back all my local music on
the machine and of all player available in the network. I hope this
makes sense and just to be clear: There are no plans to convert
Soundicity into a player. ;-)

Best wishes,

Marc.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Soundicity, Squeezebox Controller App, for Windows 8.1 Tablets and Phones

2015-12-09 Thread cathcam

I've just downloaded this from the store and am running it on Windows
10(x64).

It didn't autodiscover my local ReadyNas based LMS, where as RAIDAR
does. I added the LMS manually and after a few seconds everything was
ready to go.

A couple of questions Marc if you are reading...

1. Is there a way I can pay for a licence apart from going through the
Windows PC App Stor? - I'm loathed to give MS my credit card detils...
2. Reading a couple of the forums here, there is an implication or
discussion about Soundicity being a player aka Squeezeplay replacement.
True or not? - on this machine I don't need it, but do use Squeezeplay
on a laptop connected via a USB DAC to my stereo system and it would be
a great replacement as a player and controller.

Hi, Sorry for not replying earlier, but I only get the forums email
messages and must have missed your question.

Right now, you cannot paste a URL into Soundicity, but I will look into
it.

Best wishes,

Marc.

After reading your post, I was quite intrigued to try out LMS on my
cheap HP Stream 7 tablet and it works quite well. I installed LMS and
the local player plugin as well as Soundicity and was able to control
playback on the tablet. The only issue I found was that auto-detection
of servers/players does not seem to work if LMS/Local Player was
running, but you can always specify local servers manually in the app.
Something I need to look into. So, after adding localhost:9000 as a
local server, the local player on the table came through. I will change
to app to also probe the local machine for a running server.

One thing, though. If you bought a Windows RT device (see my other post
in this thread on the difference between Windows RT and Windows
Runtime/WinRT), you will not be able to install LMS on the deskto, since
as far as I know, you can pretty much only install apps from the Windows
App store. The best thing is probably to pick up a cheap tablet that
runs full Windows 8.1.

Best wishes,

Marc.

So I received my cheap tablet yesterday and installed Soundicity as well

the ip address for local servers I still could not get it to connect to
LMS running on the tablet. Do I just input localhost:9000 or do I
need anything else? Sorry if it is a dumb question. I am looking
 forward to your updated app.

Yes, localhost:9000 is exactly right given that LMS uses 9000 as the
port. You also need to have a player that is connected to that LMS
instance as well. For example, I used the Local Player plugin. Please
give that a try.

Best wishes,

Marc.

I guess your question aims at Windows RT and the ARM tablets it runs on,
but to be honest I don't know. Since Soundicity can be installed through
the Windows app store I would think it runs on those devices as well,
but since I don't have such a device,I cannot really confirm it.

If you own such a tablet, you can always try the app.

Best wishes,

Marc.
