Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Leds on the PI and HifiBerry turn off

Hi

I used only the leds_off line:

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus,leds_off=true

But the led keeps burning.

You need to replace

Code:

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus

with

Code:

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus,leds_off=true

When I opened config.txt the first line was already there.
I think the line comes when I let piCore know that I use a HifiBerre

But the led keeps burning after 'backup' and 'reboot'.

Adding ",leds_off=true" to the config.txt does indeed kill the LEDs on a
DAC+

Code:

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus

Is already inserted by the picoreplayer squeezelite settings so complete
line is

Code:

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus,leds_off=true

 NOTE NO Spaces !

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Leds on the PI and HifiBerry turn off

2021-05-07 Thread Peet

Hi everybody

It's weekend and time for piCore.

HifiBerry writes:
If the software you’re using doesn’t provide the Amp2 as an output
option, you should use the HiFiBerry DAC+ driver as the Amp2 is
basically a DAC+ with an integrated power stage.

I read the wrong README, but I found the good one of Greg. He used the
DAC+ and I understood it had to be:

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus, leds_off=true

I changed config.txt but nothing happens with the led. I controlled
config.txt and it was set like I wanted and placed below
dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus.

Asking HifiBerry was the answer: I don't know, we do not support
piCore.

So I'm still doing something wrong or it's end of story.

You need to read the README file.

Assuming hifiberry-dacplus works for your DAC?

Code:

Name:   hifiberry-dacplus
  Info: Configures the HifiBerry DAC+ audio card
  Load:   dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus,=
  Params: 24db_digital_gain Allow gain to be applied via the PCM512x codec
  Digital volume control. Enable with
  "dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus,24db_digital_gain"
  (The default behaviour is that the Digital
  volume control is limited to a maximum of
  0dB. ie. it can attenuate but not provide
  gain. For most users, this will be desired
  as it will prevent clipping. By appending
  the 24dB_digital_gain parameter, the Digital
  volume control will allow up to 24dB of
  gain. If this parameter is enabled, it is the
  responsibility of the user to ensure that
  the Digital volume control is set to a value
  that does not result in clipping/distortion!)
  slave Force DAC+ Pro into slave mode, using Pi as
  master for bit clock and frame clock.
  leds_offIf set to 'true' the onboard indicator LEDs
  are switched off at all times.

dtoverlay=hifiberry-dacplus,leds_off

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Leds on the PI and HifiBerry turn off

2021-05-03 Thread Peet

Hi Greg

I followed your answer.
I found that the HifiBerry Amp2 uses the DAC+.
On https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux...t/dts/overlays the
"hifiberry-dacplus-overlay.dts" on
I found:

leds_off = <_dacplus>,"hifiberry-dacplus,leds_off?";

Then I learned to work with vi.
I looged in via ssh and used m1, c1, vicfg.
Then I scrolled down and opened the 'insert mode' with 'o'.
Now I wrote the 'leds_off' line.
With 'ESC' and ':wq!' I stopped vi. And then reboot piCore.
But the led on the Amp2 remains burning!
What do I wrong or forget or don't see?

You need to read through the README to find the parameters that are
valid for your dtoverlay.

Your are hoping for a "leds_off" parameter.

Then you need to 'Edit config.txt'
(https://docs.picoreplayer.org/how-to/edit_config_txt/) to add
",leds_off" your dtoverlay command line.

Hi Greg

I got an answer of HifiBerry.
The Amp2 can be seen as a DAC+.
I got the name of a website where I can found what I need:

You can try the led_off parameter:
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/tree/7fb9d006d3ff3baf2e205e0c85c4e4fd0a64fcd0/arch/arm/boot/dts/overlays

I looked at it but as I said: I don't know Linux.

Can you tell me what to do and how do to it.

Thanks and regards

hi Peet,

If my previous reply didn't ring any bells for you I suggest you wait
for pCP 8.0.0, it should be a lot easier.

Even the pCP 8.0.0 is pretty basic as it doesn't turn off ethernet leds.

Use a bit of tape or blutac as a interim solution.

Here's a bit of beta code. I included it here for other readers than are
not using RPi3. This is only for the power and activity leds.

You will need to grab the couple of off lines of code.

Code:

#
  # LEDS
  #  - ACT LED = /sys/class/leds/led0
  #  - PWR LED = /sys/class/leds/led1

#
  pcp_rpi_leds() {
local OPTION="$1"

case "$OPTION" in
on|ON)
pcp_rpi_leds_on
;;
off|OFF)
pcp_rpi_leds_off
;;
*)
echo "Invalid option: $OPTION"
;;
esac
  }

  pcp_rpi_leds_on() {
pcp_rpi_details
case "$TYPE" in
0)
echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/led0/brightness
;;
1)
echo "Not supported on RPi1"
;;
*)
echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/led0/brightness
echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/led1/brightness
;;
esac
  }

  pcp_rpi_leds_off() {
pcp_rpi_details
case "$TYPE" in
0)
echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/led0/brightness
;;
1)
echo "Not supported on RPi1"
;;
*)
echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/led0/brightness
echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/led1/brightness
;;
esac
  }

Off code:

Code:

echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/led0/brightness
echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/class/leds/led1/brightness

Looks like the HiFiBerry AMP audio driver doesn't have params for the
leds.

Code:

Name:   hifiberry-amp
  Info: Configures the HifiBerry Amp and Amp+ audio cards
  Load:   dtoverlay=hifiberry-amp
  Params:

There is an HiFiBerry AMP100 driver that does have param for the leds
but I don't know it that driver works for the AMP2?

We don't have a timeline for pCP8.0.0. It's just a matter of when it is
good enough for users.

The command to turn the leds off depends on which model RPi you have.

The command to turn the leds off depends on which HAT you have.

There are many Raspberry Pi's and many HiFiBerry HATs, some you can turn
off the LEDs others you can't. :(

pCP8.0.0 will have the ability to turn off the RPi's LEDs (if
possible).

The HiFiBerry HAT will require adding "leds_off" to the driver in
config.txt (if possible). Is there an option in [Card Control]?
