[NEW] sysutils/tarsnap-gui
$COMMENT: frontend to the popular Tarsnap backup service pkg/DESCR: The Tarsnap frontend is an open source cross-platform Graphical User Interface for the popular Tarsnap backup service, that's easy to use, light and open as the Tarsnap command line client itself. While the original Tarsnap command line client is oriented towards server and scripted backups, facilitating workflows from inside a terminal, the GUI frontend application allows the desktop user to easily back up important files and directories using a lean and no-fuss interface while benefiting from the same power, flexibility, openness and cost effectiveness that the Tarsnap service implies and provides. My thanks to Vadim Zhukov and anyone else who may have been instrumental in producing the x11/qt5 port module, it made the complex string of build dependencies completely trivial for this unskilled $MAINTAINER. Questions? Comments? tarsnap-gui.tar.gz Description: application/tar-gz

Biber revisited in post Texlive2014 world
Dear porters, A while back, I wrote to you about creating a port for Biber: http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-portsm=142843309027621w=2 The arc of history bends toward biblatex and away from bibtex as far as I can see, and biber appears to be an increasingly integral part of that. In particular, if you want to use author-date styles with biblatex, you're pretty much required to use biber. When I inquired about creating a port previously, people suggested I hold off until the release of the port for Texlive 2014, in case it was included there. Since it doesn't look like it was, I'm now back asking about whether people think this should be a separate port. I believe on other platforms it's typically not packaged as part of Texlive, but is recommended by texlive packages. I'm willing to take a crack at porting this. It does, however, depend on a BUNCH of Perl CPAN libraries. Any words of wisdom on that front? If I drop a biber port on the mailing list, it's likely to come with about 20 associated CPAN ports as well... Cheers, Peter
Follow-up on JAGS (new port for Bayesian inference)
Hi all, I just wanted to follow up on this port and see if anyone was willing to test it out and provide feedback. Best, Peter On 05/28/15 07:40, Peter Schmiedeskamp wrote: Hi all, Taking a crack at my second port--everything appears to be working, and I'd appreciate testing! I do have some questions about the ports fortran infrastructure though. There was a discussion several years ago about default fortran compilers, and whether g77 might be just a legacy holdover. http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-portsm=132031647401170w=2 I was unable to build this with gfortran, apparently because of issues mixing gfortran with math/blas and math/lapack, which are compiled with g77. Is there a reason why the various fortran-using scientific ports haven't switched to gfortran? On a related note, make lib-depends-check on my port returns Extra: g2c.8. I think this is a function of including the fortran module and requiring g77. Any thoughts on how / whether to clean that issue up? Best, Peter jags.tgz Description: Binary data
