Re: Guadalcanal Diary

They have a cool website where you can buy the new CD.

I guess you go to music and then look up Guadalcanal Diary. I haven´t been
there myself for a while now, so I don´t remember exactly. Anyway, it´s well
worth checking out.

Re: The Brooders (was:Re: SXSW)

Hi folks,

Seems like everyone had a great time at SXSW! Really wish I could´ve been
there. I haven´t been able to attend SXSW since ´93, but I hope to go next
year.

Are there any plans for a Brooders CD? I love all The Wild Seeds stuff and
Michael Hall´s solo stuff as well.

In a paragraph or two, if putting together a sampler cd, from artists
around the country on a given kind of music, something expensive?

And do those contributing music to the sampler, pay for a piece of the cd,
so I wouldn't have to put up alot of money to make it all work?

Bill,

The way I work with compilations, is that that the artist pay for the
recording of the song, and then I pay for everything else. That is,
mastering, pressing of the CD, artwork, mechanical royalties, promotional
stuff and more. I give some copies of the CD to the artist as thanks for the
contribution. Then the artist can buy CD´s from me for a wholesale price, if
they wish to do so.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your compilation!

Earle on Swedish TV

1999-02-22 Thread Jerker Emanuelsson

Hi there,

Steve Earle did a great version of "Outlaw´s Honeymoon" on Swedish TV last
night. He was also interviewed.

I´m really looking forward to seeing him in Oslo, Norway on May 12!

The review does say
that "Girl That's Hip" is on the record, and I think that line is in the Punk

"Girl That´s Hip" is not the same song as "Punk Rockin´ Honky Tonk Girl".

There´s a version of that song (Girl That´s Hip) on Duane Jarvis´ great CD
from last year.

By the way, heard from Tim´s lawyer the other day, and he said that Sire
WILL release the CD, but he wasn´t sure exactly when. Let´s keep our fingers
crossed.

Re: Our Favorite Band (the band)

1999-02-01 Thread Jerker Emanuelsson

Our Favorite Band first put out a 7" vinyl EP on Praxis Records. Yes, the
very same label that put out the first Jason The Nashville Scorchers EP.

It´s sort of lo-fi kind of trash country. The LP however, is much better
produced and is full of great "alternative" country. Check it out!

PS. Does anyone know what ever happened to the band after the LP?

Wow, great with a tribute to Ray Mason! Great to see The Incredible Casuals
doing one of his songs. Too bad nobody´s doing "We don´t get along anymore"
which is my favorite Ray Mason song. That song appeared on the very first
"Hit The Hay" compilation on my label some five years ago.

Foster's latest deserves to be seen and heard

I haven´t heard the new Radney Foster CD, and now it seems that I might
never get to do it. I get so mad when things like this happens time after
time. A major label record an album, and then they never bother to release it.

It happened twice in a couple of years for Radney´s old Foster Lloyd
partner, Bill Lloyd, when first RCA decided not to release the Sky Kings CD.
Then they recorded a new one for Warner, but it was to no use ´cause Warner
dropped them as well before the CD saw the light of day.

Charlie Burton/Shithook

Just wanted to let you all know that Charlie Burton´s old band from
Nebraska, The Hiccups, have a great new CD out on their own. They´re called
Shithook and the name of the CD is "When A Boyscout Gets The Blues". It
should appeal to any fan of Charlie´s older material.
