Re: Pismo...upside down logo

2005-06-02 Thread Tom and Lisa P
(Re-post: It looks like my email got lost somewhere in the ether the
other day - it didn't bounce, but I never saw it turn up on the
list).

Of course, this is topic is so completely off-topic for this list...
Having said that, let me contribute to the collective delinquency!
;-)

I own three Wallstreets (a 292, a 233 series II, and a 266). None
of them glowed out of the box (not in the same way as a Pismo,
anyway, which can be seen in a normally lit room in the daytime). A
Wallstreet might faintly glow if you view it from the rear in a
completely black environment, but that's only by accident. That's
because the foam and mylar sheet between the backlight and the logo
aren't 100% opaque (they're close to it though, maybe 95%).

On one of my Wallstreets, the only modification necessary to make
the logo glow was simply the removal of a mylar sticker from the
backside of the logo. On the other, I needed to remove the sticker
and trim back some of the foam spacer to allow the light through. I
haven't bothered to make the third glow.

In very bright direct sunlight with the LCD at lower backlight
brightnesses, sometimes there will be a yellowish blotch in the
center of the LCD where the sunlight shines through the logo more
brightly than the backlight lights the LCD.

Setting up some LEDs around the logo is a simple thing to do. I've
investigated the possibility of moving the sleep LED to the logo (or
adding a 2nd LED in addition to the primary LED) There's plenty of
space between the plastic of the lid and the backlight. Some of the
foam may have to be trimmed back on individual models, however.

Mad Dog, does this answer some of your questions?

Peace,
Drew

That's AFP, Apple Filing Protocol.

Because Apple stated on their website that using 8.1 will work, I have

Go to the Apple Web site, in the older download area there is an
AppleShare update, 3.6.something or 3.8.something I believe. It
will let you access ASIP (Appleshare IP).

Re: 3400c and Quicktake...not a match

2005-06-02 Thread ken ross
i'll admit i've not got a PPC powerbook ~ just a lowly PB160 ( OS7.5)
but my desktop is PPC7300 with G3 upgrade running OS9.1 ,
i've not long got my hands on a quicktake 100 ~ i tried the install floppy
disks but the resulting works just gave me error messages ~ but found on
the ftp.apple site in the developers section there was a complete archive
( 4.5 MB ) of bits for the camera lurking there ,
( it even includes bits for those things the evil empire spawns ! )

for some reason apple don't have the install disks in the 'public' download
area for older software but have it hidden forgotten round the back !.

on my pb160 the quicktake can be mounted on the desktop with the control
panel for it~ but on the 7300 all i can do is shift the pictures from
camera to an HD folder .

sorry i can't recall the FTP URL .

Pismo ( remember the PB mentioned in the subject line?) that I should
avoid. And any trickiness to assembly..

All Pismo parts are interchangeable between Pismos.

Few parts from other machines are usable.

Thank you Malcolm! I had given up on the original intent of my
thread being met.

I am still interested in a Junkyard Pismo. But think I will be slow
in achieving it

The older Quicktake powerplug? like from the 100
software? I'm running 9.1, so you'd imagine they
would have sorted out the problems by now.

Thanks.

Karl.
