Well John, what is actually happening is that the utility is simply writing
Zero's to the drive. Although it "looks" like it's doing a LLF it's simply
not possible.

Toshiba has a 5gig PCMCIA card that uses there 1.8in drive (same as
in the iPod)
It's kinda pricey though. you would be better off to buy one of the 40 or
60gig internal drives and upgrade your book for less money, unless
you absolutely _have_ to have the removable drive for security or ?.

The cable you seek is for a product called PowerPrint which allows you to use
a Mac with a 'Windblows' printer. (the Portable Stylwriter is in
reality an HP 340)
If you have the cable and the software you can print to literally
thousands of printers,
quite handy for a traveling powerbook user.

I think I may have an extra cable around somewhere...

contact me offlist if you would be interested in purchasing it and I will
rummage thru the boxes.

I just put a 10gig IBM into my little sisters 5300cs and it exhibited the exact

This sounds to me like a Power Manager problem.

Try restarting the book and hold down the command-option-P-R keys
to reset the PRAM.
Hold the keys down and make them chime at least_10_ times before
you let the book restart.

If that doesn't clear the problem then I would suggest that you
remove all power from the machine and disconnect the Pram battery for
an hour or so to fully discharge the PRAM.

If you are uncomfortable opening up your book to do this you could just leave
it without power for about a week and probably accomplish the same thing.

For Sale

2001-09-20 Thread Harbourmaster

Lista's

I have for sale an External High Capacity Battery Pack.

SlimPack for Duo from Battery Technology Incorporated
Model# MC-202S along with the BTI MC-20200 Smart Charging Device
and all of the necessary cables.

The Battery Pack itself is Approximately 11 inches wide
(about the same as a Duo) by 6 & 3/8ths inches deep and 1/2 inch thick.

The Smart Charger attaches to the side of the standard Duo power supply
just like an Apple battery charger.
Fully charged it is supposed to provide between 4 & 6 hours of running time.

I bought this used about a year and a half ago for a trip I was takeing
and it worked well for me.
I have not used it since then and I'm afraid that if it just sits in the closet
it's going to become unuseable.

It's a really nice accessory and would be great for someone that travels
a lot with a Duo.

I have two pages of instructions and information that I printed out from
the BTI website when I got the battery.

Guaranteed no DOA

Any reasonable cash offer considered
