The drive may be going bad. I know that's not a positive way to put it, but it could be just a bad drive. You really should stick with a drive that came from a Mac when possible. It saves a lot of hassles in the long run, or so I've heard. I've copied the System Folder to the drive and tried to boot but that won't work. Should it? Or should I copy the whole CD and then try to boot. I'm wondering if there is some boot info on the old drive which wasn't formatted before the switch from windows. I'm not an expert but I believe Apple has a USB Card driver. Don't know much else besides that. WTB - PowerBook 540c
Hi: I would like to buy a 540c laptop. I have not considered a 520c, but I find them much less impressive. I like the 540c much better as I have had one before. I am not going to be too specific on what my needs are as far as this computer. The only thing that I ask is that it is working in all aspects: hard drive, display, floppy drive, and all crucial parts. I would like it to have at least 20 mb RAM, 320 MB Hard drive, 33/66 Processor, internal modem, internal ethernet. I would also like it to have both batteries. I would also appreciate it if it had an OS. Possibly an external CD would be a great addition. Also an AC adapter would be nice too. How would you rebuild a 540c battery?
Hi, I have noticed that everyone has been talking about how to rebuild PowerBook 100 series battery. But how would you rebuild a 500 series battery? I have been looking this afternoon for instructions because I have some that need a rebuild I would say. I have had no luck finding anything. Could some one direct me to some possibly also need to know what cells are the best and where to find them. I've seen Panasonic cells, and Sanyo cells. I think as far as reconditioning, the Sanyo cells recondition a little bit better, but maybe it was the luck of the draw. I like Mozilla 1.0.2. In Explorer, I have had problems with Paypal, ebay, .Mac. In Mozilla I do not have any of those problems. I also use it in OS X. I think it tops off Safari and Explorer by far. Hi, I got a Enterasys Roamabout card. It's 16 bit and has the 128 bit encryption. It is equivalent to the Lucent gold card. Do you think this will work ok with my 3400c/240 that runs OS 9.1? They can take the same batteries, so I would assume that they probably can have the same PMU. Hello. I'm looking to get a wireless router or find out if it is even worth getting one. See, I have dial up internet at home, but can use wireless other places. I was wondering what type of router I would get and how much it would cost to run my dial up through that router. Is it even worth doing? Would it be slower? Any help is appreciated. Costs nothing to run the dial-up, and it's as fast as my wired modem, and more convenient. It seems to be better at keeping the connection alive than my old modem (a Global Village) OF course, you have to realize that with more than one computer connected you're going to be sharing a paltry few kps of bandwidth to the internet, but it manages just fine. Really just a plug-n-configure configure configure-Play experience ;-) Just one caveat: If you set your Airport up to restrict via MAC address, make sure you add the address of the computer you're configuring with *first*.
