Hello, all
Well, my beloved Powerbook 145 has given up the ghost. After som
experimenting, however, I have ascertained that the problem lies in
the screen cable that runs down through the LH hinge. Somehow, it has
been cut rather neatly about halfway in two. In order to fix it, I can
only assume that I will need a new cable. would anyone here know where
I might obtain one?

Re: Experience using memory module/adapter in PCMCIA slots

2004-04-03 Thread Louis Labrie

Can the 500 series be booted from PC cards? Anyone know?

Yes they can but you have to make sure you have the software
for the PCMCIA card cage installed in the system on the flash memory.
Or something like that its been a while since i've done it. I do have
the
original disk that came with my rev b card cage and in the read me it
tells how to do it. But anyway yes it can be done on the 500 series.

Need help with external video

2002-08-17 Thread Louis Labrie

Hi all

A couple things I'm having trouble with.
I have a PB Wallstreet 266MHz 192mb ram OS 9.2.
I have it set up with a external monitor (KDS 15")
And ext. keyboard and mouse.
Ok when I close the screen on the powerbook the monitor goes black
I would like to leave it closed to keep the dust out since I'm using the
ext, monitor. Can I do this it seems it should and how?
Also when I start playing a game it starts out ok but then the monitor loses
video. What gives with this?
This set up is for my kid's and I want them to use it as a desktop.
Thanks

Lou

Open Transport not loading !!!!!!

2002-05-11 Thread Louis Labrie

Hello all
Lurk mode OFF
Need help here I'm getting a Powerbook 540c
Ready to sell. I just used this Powerbook in Jan.
And it was working fine.
Now I just turned it on after 4 months and when I try to do any thing
related
To network or internet it says open transport not loaded??
It has 20 MB ram 320 MB hard drive Open transport 2.1 remote access 2.1
Internal GV (19.2 I think) Modem.
And OS 8.1
Getting ready to just wipe the drive and reinstall.
I loaded just base 8.1 extensions no good
Did all 8.1 extensions still no good
Made copy of base and added modem O.T., R.A. no good.
Trashed pref's still no good.
If I do a reinstall was thinking about downgrading to 7.5.5
This Powerbook will be for someone who has never used a Mac before.
What do I need to add in to give it all the functions of 8.1?
Or should I just use 8.1 for a new Mac user?
Any and all help/advice greatly appreciated

Lou
