Depending on which system you're running, sometimes the Iomega extensions will "hang"
the keyboard like that--I can't recall what it's called--Iomega something disk. Check
your running applications when this happens, and you'll probably track it down.

The power cable is the same cable used in some of the older Performas. I picked up a
Performa LC 4XX at Goodwill simply because it had that HD power cable. You might try a
store like that.

I forgot, but that's exactly how I have my PB 3400 set--with the router's settings
192.x.x.x in the Gateway field for the DNS. It doesn't pass those on to the ISP. I
rememeber now reading somewhere that that would help connect.

Location Manager will actually switch TCP/IP, Appletalk, and other settings. I started
using it with my Pismo when going back and forth from work (dialup versus broadband).
It seems to be more reliable about acquiring an IP IMHO.

Re: IP problem on PowerBook 3400

2003-10-27 Thread gdadams1
Tom:

I have the same machine but I'm running 9.2.2 with Airport and an Orinoco. Have you
tried something like setting up different locations in Location Manager and then
switching back and forth? I've found that by using Location Manager to switch back and
forth from wired to wireless, it resets fine. That doesn't solve your root
problem--losing the connection in the first place, but it might be a place to begin.

Re: VST iBook Battery Charger (for clamshell batt's)

2003-08-14 Thread gdadams1
Chuck:

I've got the charger at home. I probably have a manual around somewhere. I'll see what
I can find.

The lights will start out flashing yellow to indicate charging. When a battery is
fully charged, the lights will turn to green. If I recall, if the light is red, it's a
default for a bad battery. Sometimes you can leave the battery in overnight and it
will charge. I charged two batteries the computer showed as bad and now both work.

Re: 3400 Manual

2003-06-03 Thread gdadams1
I have the full manuals, but when I replaced the HD in my PB3400, I did a Google
search and found a very useful page. I don't recall where it is right now, but I'm
sure you could find it by typing in "PB3400" "Replace hard drive" or something similar.

Re: small blue usb case question

2002-10-03 Thread gdadams1

Bruce:

I downloaded those extensions from Compgeeks just to see what they were. They look to
me to simply be the Apple Developer's Kit for USB. The driver from Prolific is a
bridge driver.

Someone has these cases for sale on Yahoo for $20. I paid more.
