Re: Re(2): PB1400 Questions
That's what I originally thought as well. I figured that the lower wattage on the M7883 would just take a LOT longer to recharge the battery, but until I had a real 1400 AC adapter, I killed an old battery, a new (old stock) battery, and a rebuilt one I made. Mobo mojo maybe? Can anyone explain why this happens? Re: Re(2): PB1400 Questions
Done this with the Duo adapter to my 1400 when the 1400's AC went bad. The Duo's stock ac adapter doesn't put out enough power to charge the battery, but it will run the 1400. Word of warning though, if you leave in the 1400's battery when you use the Duo's adapter, you WILL kill the battery. Don't know why, just happenssomeone with more knowledge here help me out? Chris One more thing... I tried to test the voltage coming out of the Duo adaptor last night before I plugged it in and let it sit over night. I couldn't get a reading on the volt meter, with the Duo adaptor, but it tested a 5300 adaptor just to be sure the meter worked, and that was fine... So, I tried setting the meter to XK under the Ohm setting like I would to do a self test. I connected one pole to the center of the adaptor (o) (in this case, the o) and one to the center prong on the AC side. Nothing on the meter, so I tried the outer two prongs and still nothing. I tried again with the outside of the DC side (o) (the parenthesis, not the o in the ASCII representation), tried the prongs, and still nothing. Am I doing something wrong? The power adaptor works with a Duo 230, but that only leads me to believe that the adaptor could be putting out a bare minimum and thus having little to no effect on the 1400 Possible? Does yours happen to have a CPU upgrade? Mine does, so I was wondering if the difference in power draw would affect performance. Maybe? Actually if you look in the archives, many people say the battery life goes way UP with the G3 upgrade- so the power drain would thus be LESS once upgraded. so your situation might be a little better, but still hard to risk your battery. The good thing, since they are NiMH and not lithium, it's not that hard to refurb your own battery (not that it's CHEAP to do so, but it isn't hard).
