Oh yes and I'm running 7.6.1

Although it wouldn't work with 8.1, 8.6, or 9.1 either.

Didn't all 3400s come with the internal modem/ethernet combo?

Plus, mine is the 240mhz model so for sure the highest end model would
have it.

I have three extensions:

PowerBook 3400 Ethernet
PowerBook 3400 Modem
PowerBook Ethernet (PCI)

Modem Control Panel is set to "Internal Modem" and modem is "PowerBook
3400 Internal 33.6"

Still doesnt work

On a side note, when I do attempt to dial with the modem the computer
emits a low humming noise that lasts until the "Connection Error: Modem
not responding properly" dialogue comes up.

From: macdaniel3400c <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

It would be simply splashtastic to use the 33.6 Modem/Ethernet combo port
on my 3400c. However I cannot seem to get the modem to work (although
the Ethernet works fine - and its the same port!)
I select 3400c Internal Modem in the modem control panel, but I hear no
connecting noises.
It says "Connection failed: Modem is not responding properly."

This is strange I think since it works fine when I hooke it up to the
network. What am I doing wrong?

Check your extensions folder. You should have an extension called
"PowerBook 3400/G3 33.6K Modem" or something very similar sounding.
And of course you have to choose "Internal Modem" in the Modem Control
Panel, and the "PowerBook 3400/G3 33.6K" Script Modem.

Best regards.

Are you sure you have the model with the modem? Just because you have a working
ethernet doesn't mean there's also a modem there. Is the extension for the ethernet &
modem installed?
