Re[2]: weird problem with Powerbook 520

2001-10-17 Thread Mike Hebel

RA It's handy to know that the same cable goes to the LCD and sound output -
RA the display looks fine, so that cable is probably OK. I've only tried to get
RA sound through the Control Panel alarms setting and the Jigsaw puzzle (and,
RA of course, I don't have a start-up chime). AFAIK, the volume settings are
RA all on and up to max.

If you don't get a startup chime then it's almost IMHO a hardware
problem. Try plugging and unplugging something into the speaker jack
on the back - try listening with headphones to see if your hear
anything coming from the speaker jack. If you hear it from the
speaker jack and not the speakers when unplugged it means the speaker
jack is probably bad/stuck.

Just my $.02 worth.

Re: Re[2]: weird problem with Powerbook 520

2001-10-17 Thread Richard Adams

I appreciate the input, Mike, but there is no speaker jack on the back of a
Duo 280C. However, the principle is sound enough, and I should be able to
apply it when my recently purchased Duo Dock arrives. Thanks for the idea!

Ciao,

Richard
