Re: Turnaround time for licence? (Changed to Threading query)
Barbara Threading is not available in PowerMail. The workaround is to sort by subject. This has come up periodically in the past and I think the end result is that, it is not going to be a part of PM. I originally wanted threading and even tried a couple other e-mail clients that do threading of one sort or another; but PowerMail's other features of particular views, filtering, etc. drew me back. I just tried Basheera Khan's suggestion. I've been manually dragging (until I figure out how to get a filter to do it automatically - I'll get into *that* later!) every PM List message into a single folder and I just opened up that folder in a separate window and clicked on Subject. Although it's not true threading, the subjects line up alphabetically and then chronologically, so you *can* scroll down to see posts on specific topics. (Another brilliant reason for my not posting, inappropriately, with my dating stamp in the Subject line!) This, to my mind, achieves a result every bit as useful. I suppose if you've got umpteenzillion posts in there it might not work, but for now, for me, it's a way to make order out of chaos. Re: Rich Text/HTML
Rich Text (AKA RTF) is a format designed by Microsoft, you don't usually ever hand code it since it was designed to be used as an interchange format for wordprocessing documents. Oon the other hand HTML can be handcoded if needed, and was designed for displaying web pages. The end result in email is pretty much the same, fonts, colored text, font sizes, pictures, etc. Wayne -Original Message- From: Tom Miller [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Mar 9, 2005 8:17 AM To: PowerMail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Rich Text/HTML What's the difference between rich text and html formatted text in e-mail?

Rein, you have a port problem. The OS thinks the modem is connected to this port. How do you connect to the internet? Check your settings under Schedules. Check your connection settings. Turnaround time for licence?
Hi all, I am a new PowerMail user, as well as a new subscriber to the list - so, howdy. :-) I have a question regarding the turnaround time in acquiring a PowerMail registration code. I made my licensing payment yesterday afternoon, and thoroughly expected to hear from the PowerMail crowd by this morning at the latest. However, nothing doing. In your collective experience, is this normal? I have sent a follow-up email to [EMAIL PROTECTED], but have received no response. While I'm at it, I noticed in my trial version of the software that there appears to be no way to sort messages by thread. Is this the case, or am I missing something very obvious? All tips and advice much appreciated. Hi Rein, As an additional query, could someone test print a PM email with v4.2.1 just to see what happens? I can't test now, as I've moved on to OSX and PM 5, but I started with PM back when I used OS9 and PM4 and I certainly printed while getting email. However, I don't have the same printer as you... Re: Still Love PowerMail but...
Hmm, it doesn't get in the way but needs more than twice the number of characters for exactly the same information (140 vs. 66) so with this message you need double bandwith for the same communication... First off, many of you long time PM users know that I am no fan of HTML mail. However that said, I have to state two things about this thread. First, it is like a religious war, there are no clear winners, only facts from both sides. In either case we've wasted a ton of bandwidth on this topic and the bottom line is, it is now getting old. Can we please drop it. And second, speaking of bandwidth. If we really want to fix the bandwidth problems, we have to fix the spammers. This is where 90+% of the wasted bandwidth comes from. SpamSieve is only part of the solution because it does nothing to stop them, it only helps unclutter your mailbox. Aggressive actions must be taken if we are to solve this problem. So far, only limited things have worked. However, this is were most of the bandwidth issues are taken place right now, not in HTML mail. Once Spam is dealt with, then we can talk about HTML wasting bandwidth. Until then, it's simply a blight. What I imply is that adding HTML-editing capabilities to PowerMail will not take away the ability to work with plain text. So let people who want HTML-editing have it. If you don't have use for it, don't use it. That is my point. Jan - computer artwork by subhash scripsit dd. Wed, 9 Mar 2005 13:51:31 +0100 (internet: @577) [Jan M.J.
