Re(2): 2GB limit: the Official Pronouncement

Christian,

This should absolutely work, and is an ever more sensible approach than
the two methods I suggested. Plus, as per your point 4), has the
advantage of fostering all sorts of fulfilling activities ;-)

Incidentally, the Intel migration's benefits really show in large
database operations, alas that means less waiting time.

Cheers,

Instructions on creating the equivalent of a database clone:

If one has the time (don't know how long PM would need for this),
wouldn't it be less error-prone to:

1. Copy the complete, existing PM environment.

2. Open the copy, select all emails (which I usually do with something like

 Find in [all local folders]
[Date received] [is newer than] [20] [years]

3. Drag the found emails to the PM trash. (Do your workout, go to sleep.)

4. Empty PM trash. (Do your workout, go to sleep, have a nice weekend
with your family.)

5. Quit, restart with Cmd-Opt held down, choose compact database.

Shouldn't this work?

Regards, Christian.

It appears that on 27/10/06 at 23:24 H.R. Riggs spake thus:

OK, dumb question, how does one get FoxTrot to search the Powermail
database. It doesn't seem to do it for me.

make sure that the Powermail Files folder is one of the places you've
told FT to search, in the prefs.

Re(2): 2GB limit issue in 5.5?

Anyhow, I just really wonder how many people really run into the 2 GB limit.

I know at least one person ;-

I have actually reached a situation where I am looking for an
alternative to PowerMail because of the 2GB limit. I have been using two
DBs for quite some time, but definitely do not feel like having three or
four or five... In essence I like everything in PowerMail *except* the
2 GB limit (and lack of any elegant support for dealing with it).

Let me control text parameters such as bold, italic, font size in
outgoing mail.
Mostly I just want a sprinkling of bold for emphasis, but forwarding
existing formated email would be a big plus.
Likewise, Let me insert images into outgoing mail.

(Low priority) Might be controversial, but I'd actually like to edit
incoming mail,
including the subject line.
...
That's all for now.
Thanks for a really great product (that I practically live in.)

Your first two requests have the potential to restart the debate over
plain text and rich or HTML formatted e-mail. PowerMail is the former,
but can read the latter and someone will always be unhappy that it is
not the other or both or...

For your last request, there is already a script that comes with PM that
will change the Subject header of a received message without duplicating
the message. Appropriately it is called Change subject.

Powermail 5.5 and Spam Sieve connection lost

2006-10-28 Thread David Gallanders

Hello list,

For some reason, the connection between PowerMail 5.5 and SpamSieve
seems to have failed.

I launch PM, collect mail, SpamSieve doesn't launch and no spam
filtering occurs. If I subsequently mark mail as spam (Fly button),
SpamSieve then launches.
