Such questions should be discussed on the FoxTrot Discuss list:

The answer is, in the home/Library/FoxTrot folder.

Where is the index file on my HD?

and a quick test shows me they have!!
I indexed my documents folder this morning and searching a simple single
term gives 15 results in 9 secs with spotlight and 91 results in <2 secs
with Foxtrot!

Time to investigate further, but it confirms my unhappiness with
spotlight in not returning the results I expected.

I had assumed that FoxTrot was 3rd party software that CTMDev had
somehow gotten access to, but it looks like it's an in-house product. If
it works for other documents as beautifully as it works in PowerMail,
they have a real winner.

And now for something new...FoxTrot Personal Search

2005-08-29 Thread PowerMail info

Dear PowerMail-discuss members,

In the process of developing and supporting PowerMail, we have heard
much praise about our FoxTrot search engine's performance when finding e-
mail - and frequent regrets that it was not available for other types of
documents.

Today, we are pleased to serve our loyal PowerMail user base with a
preview of FoxTrot Personal Search, a new product that brings fast and
focused find-by content to Mac OS X 10.4, 10.3 and 10.2 users.

On 10.4, FoxTrot extends find-by-content beyond Spotlight's one-size-
fits-all search, while supporting all the file types known to Spotlight.
FoxTrot also brings 10.3 and 10.2 users a superior search tool without
the hassle or cost of a system upgrade.

Before we announce this to the world, we figure that PowerMail users
deserve to try this first, since FoxTrot brings desktops many of the
identical values; without further ado, please visit:

The page itself is a bit rough around the edges and being finished, but
the software has been tested extensively [usual cautionary notes about
beta software nonetheless].

If you're interested in helping us with further beta testing, please do
so by joining a discussion with the team:

in order to just be notified of releases (low-volume annoucements):

Finally, while the 1.0 release will cost 29 Euro (about US$35), we are
making 1.0 licenses available to PowerMail users and early adopters at
only 19 Euro (about US$23.50) directly within the application (instant
registration) or from:

Works well and I'll order mine in a few minutes. What I find most
interesting is the development of a Windows version. Does this mean we
are likely to see a Windows PowerMail, particularly with the move to MacTel?

CHP is/was such a simple, intuitive Mac/Windows app for creating web
pages, it deserves to live on -- especially good for pages that aren't
too complicated. I have given it to Windows users who were making clunky
pages in Front Page.

Maybe Sandvox will replace it as a really easy-
to-use app for Mac people.

That's because that's all that's in the page source, which leads me to
ask: why is a company that develops my favorite mail app and is now
bringing a pervasive searching tool to the entire Mac OS X community...
using Claris Home Page in 2005?? (If you check, it seems the whole ctmdev
