As far as I can tell PM 4.2.1 works fine under OS 9 with some quirks, but I think they are probably liveable. I have no intention to switch to OS10 so long as I have my current computer as I doubt it is up to the job. What box do you have? I had up til recently: OS X 10.3.3 | Powerbook G3/ 266 | 384 MB RAM | 20 GB HD with PowerMail 4.1.2 and it's working fine with close to OS 9 speed. RAM is the key for this generation of machines. Or you could just try OSX on your old computer. I was running OS X and OS X Server successfully for a very long time on a Beige 233 MHz G3 (some 250 MB RAM). Slow in starting up, then it did its job. One warning though -- don't try install OS X 10.3 on these machines. You'll get trouble with your video card/monitor. 10.2.x works fine, though. Why not go on ebay and buy a newer mac. I bought a 450 mhz blue white 2nd rev. with no drives and no memory for about $400, then spent about $250=$300 @ otherworld for 2 drives and a gig of memory. Running 10.3.4 on it and pm 5 and it works great. I think people from this list will try to help you no matter what version you are using. I think ctm did the right decision to develop PM5 as a Mach-O Application and therefor to drop support for OS9. OS9 is dead since more than 3 years now and there's no reason to cry after it. imho, OS X is the best OS Apple ever did. What kind of computer are you working with ?
