As a general rule, avoid removing manually anything from the /System/ Library folder. Non-critical fonts are in /Library, or in the Library of your home folder. Hello Mikael, I did not receive any news from you since I sent you the localization kit for PowerMail 5.5. As there was very few changes, I have just put the new strings in english in the previous swedish localization. Do you still wish, and have time for maintaining the swedish localization for the future releases? Kind regards Jérôme - PowerMail Engineering - PowerMail has just about every power-user feature I could wish for, and its interface makes an ex-Emailer user feel at home. But what really impressed me is the incredible speed of text searches: PowerMail can comb through my 23,000+ messages in literally a *fraction* of a second, on a lowly iBook. No other mail client I've tried even remotely comes close. Kudos for FoxTrot! Marco Piovanelli, PowerMail user Download a demo version from www.ctmdev.com -
Re: total DB breakdown and asian font rendering - Update
Michael Lewis said this on the 1st of Sept. : Even if it validates, I would disable the font and see if the problem persists in Powermail. If it does, then it isn't that font or is something else entirely. Well, thing is I discovered that the font in question certainly was disabled, as it had been removed from the system because of limited space. I must have forgot about that. Anyway, as soon as I reinstalled ヒラキ゛ノ角コ゛ Pro W6.otf the test spam message sent to CTM was displayed properly. It seems Mail could display this message even without this font, but PowerMail could not. I do think that under the circumstances it's still unacceptable for an app to crash because a usually non-critical font is missing. It would be better to display a dialog that the message couldn't be shown. I realize that the way WASTE interact with PowerMail and the OS may prevent such an elegant solution, nor do I suggest CTM should address this problem pronto, but for the future any error of this type should be handled in a useful way for the user. Extreme programming, any one? Thanks again Michael and Mattias for insisting this was a font problem. PM 5.2.3 Swedish | OS X 10.4.5 | Powerbook G4/400Mhz | 1GB RAM | 30GB HD
