ECONOMIC VIEW
Confused over the credit crisis? You're not the only one
By David Leonhardt
Published: March 19, 2008
http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/03/19/business/leonhardt.php

Raise your hand if you don’t quite understand this whole financial crisis.
It has been going on for seven months now, and many people probably feel as if
they should understand it. But they don’t, not really. The part about the U.S.
housing crash seems simple enough. With banks whispering sweet encouragement,
people bought homes they couldn’t afford, and now they are falling behind on
their mortgages.
But the overwhelming majority of homeowners are still doing just fine. So how
is it that a mess concentrated in one part of the mortgage business - subprime
loans - has frozen the credit markets, sent stock markets gyrating, caused the
collapse of Bear Stearns, left the U.S. economy on the brink of the worst
recession in a generation and forced the Federal Reserve to take its boldest
action since the Depression?
I’m here to urge you not to feel sheepish. This may not be entirely comforting,
but any confusion you might have is shared by many people who are in the middle
of the crisis.
“We’re exposing parts of the capital markets that most of us had never heard
of,” Ethan Harris, a top Lehman Brothers economist, said last week. Robert
Rubin, the former Treasury Secretary and current Citigroup executive, has said
that he hadn’t heard of “liquidity puts,” an obscure financial contract, until
they started causing big problems for Citigroup.
I spent a good part of the last few days calling people on Wall Street and in
the government to ask one question: “Can you try to explain this to me?” When
they finished, I often had a highly sophisticated follow-up question: “Can you
try again?”
I emerged from it thinking that all the uncertainty has created a panic that is
partly irrational. That said, the crisis isn’t close to ending. Ben Bernanke,
the Fed chairman, won’t be able to wave a magic wand and make everything
better, no matter how many more times he cuts rates and cheers Wall Street. As
Bernanke himself has suggested, the only thing that will end the crisis is the
end of the housing bust.
So let’s go back to the beginning of the boom.
It really began in 1998, when large numbers of people decided that real estate,
which still hadn’t recovered from the early 1990s slump, had become a bargain.
At the same time, Wall Street was making it easier for buyers to get loans. It
was transforming the mortgage business from a local one, centered around banks,
to a global one, in which investors from almost anywhere could pool money to
lend. The new competition brought down mortgage fees and spurred innovation,
much of which was undeniably good. Why, after all, should someone who knows
that they’re going to move after just a few years have no choice but to take
out a 30-year, fixed-rate mortgage?
As is often the case with innovations, though, there was soon too much of a
good thing. Those same global investors, flush with cash from Asia’s boom or
from rising oil prices, demanded good returns. Wall Street had an answer:
subprime mortgages.
Because these loans go to people stretching to afford a house, they come with
higher interest rates for the borrowers - even if they’re disguised by low
initial rates - and thus higher returns for the lenders. These mortgages were
then sliced into pieces and bundled into collateralized debt obligations, or
CDOs. Once bundled, different types of mortgages could be sold to different
groups of investors.
Investors then goosed their returns further through leverage, the oldest
strategy around. They made $100 million bets with only $1 million of their own
money and $99 million in debt. If the value of the investment rose to just $101
million, the investors would end up doubling their money. Home buyers did the
same thing, by putting little money down on new houses, notes Mark Zandi of
Moody’s Economy.com. The Fed under Alan Greenspan helped make it all possible,
sharply reducing interest rates, to prevent a double-dip recession after the
technology bust of 2000, and then keeping them low for several years.
All these investments, of course, were highly risky. Higher returns almost
always come with greater risk. But people - by “people,” I’m referring here to
Greenspan, Bernanke, the top executives of almost every Wall Street firm and a
majority of American homeowners - decided that the usual rules didn’t apply
based on the idea that home prices nationwide always rise. And they did rise
ever higher, so high, says Robert Barbera of ITG, an investment firm, that they
were destined to fall. It was a self-defeating prophecy.
And it largely explains why the mortgage mess has had such ripple effects. The
American home seemed like such a sure bet that a huge portion of the global
financial system ended up owning a piece of it. Last summer, many policy makers
were hoping

[ppiindia] Economics and the rule of law

Economics and the rule of law
Order in the jungle
Mar 13th 2008
From The Economist print edition
The rule of law has become a big idea in economics. But it has had its
difficulties
“AM I the only economist guilty of using the term [rule of law] without having
a good fix on what it really means?” asks Dani Rodrik of Harvard University.
“Well, maybe the first one to confess to it.”
The rule of law is usually thought of as a political or legal matter. The
world's newest country, Kosovo, says its priority is to improve the rule of law
in order to reduce corruption and build up the state. But in the past ten years
the rule of law has become important in economics too. Indeed, it has become
the motherhood and apple pie of development economics—which makes Mr Rodrik's
confession the more striking. The rule of law is held to be not only good in
itself, because it embodies and encourages a just society, but also a cause of
other good things, notably growth. “No other single political ideal has ever
achieved global endorsement,” says Brian Tamanaha, a legal scholar at St John's
University, New York.
But as an economic concept the rule of law has had a turbulent history. It
emerged almost abruptly during the 1990s from the dual collapses of Asian
currencies and former Soviet economies. For a short time, it seemed to provide
the answer to problems of development from Azerbaijan to Zimbabwe, until some
well-directed criticism dimmed its star. Since then it has re-established
itself as a central concept in understanding how countries grow rich—but not as
the panacea it once looked like.
Economists became fascinated by the rule of law after the crumbling of the
“Washington consensus”. This consensus, which was economic orthodoxy in the
1980s, held that the best way for countries to grow was to “get the policies
right”—on, for example, budgets and exchange rates. But the Asian crisis of
1997-98 shook economists' confidence that they knew which policies were, in
fact, right. This drove them to re-examine what had gone wrong. The answer,
they concluded, was the institutional setting of policymaking, especially the
rule of law. If the rules of the game were a mess, they reasoned, no amount of
tinkering with macroeconomic policy would produce the desired results.
This conclusion was strengthened by events in the former Soviet empire. Many
post-communist countries got their policies roughly right fairly quickly. But
it soon became clear this was not enough. “I was a traditional trade and labour
economist until 1992,” says Daniel Kaufmann, now head of the World Bank
Institute's Global Governance group. “When I went to Ukraine, my outlook
changed. Problems with governance and the rule of law were undermining all our
efforts.”
Pretty quickly, “governance”—political accountability and the quality of
bureaucracy as well as the rule of law—became all the rage. Economists got busy
calculating what it was, how well countries were doing it and what a difference
it made. Mr Kaufmann and his colleague Aart Kraay worked out the “300%
dividend”: in the long run, a country's income per head rises by roughly 300%
if it improves its governance by one standard deviation. One standard deviation
is roughly the gap between India's and Chile's rule-of-law scores, measured by
the bank. As it happens, Chile is about 300% richer than India in
purchasing-power terms. The same holds for South Africa and Spain, Morocco and
Portugal, Botswana and Ireland. Economists have repeatedly found that the
better the rule of law, the richer the nation. (The chart below shows the
results of three studies, put on a comparable basis by Mr Kaufmann.) Every rich
country with the arguable exceptions of
Italy and Greece scores well on rule-of-law measures; most poor countries do
not.
Mr Rodrik reviewed the contributions to growth of governance (“institutions”,
he called it), geography and openness to trade. He concluded, to use the title
of an article he published in 2002, that “Institutions Rule”. Writing from the
perspective of a political scientist, Francis Fukuyama of Johns Hopkins
University concurred: “I believe that the institutionalists have won this
argument hands down.”
Partly because of this, and also because the rule of law is desirable for its
own sake, governments and aid agencies began splurging money on rule-of-law
reforms, such as training judges, reforming prisons and setting up prosecutors'
offices. Such reforms had begun in Latin America in the mid-1980s. Now they
became universal.
The European Union insists that all its members satisfy standards for the rule
of law. It requires applicants to commit themselves to legal reforms to meet
those standards and dispatches armies of lawyers to advise them how to bring
their legal systems up to scratch. America's Millennium Challenge Corporation,
set up in 2004 to improve the effectiveness of American official aid, confines
its largesse to

Dear all

Cerita sukses film AAC kok mencemaskan ya. Buat saya succsess story AAC malah
mengerikan.

Bukan apa-apa, orang kreatif di dunia seni kita umumnya bermental pedagang
kelontong.
diperoleh mumpung sedang digemari orang. Setelah AAC sukses, kompetitor MD
terbarunya, Ketika Cinta Bertasbih. Novelnya kang Abik juga. Nah lho.

Jadi bisa jadi seperti kisah sukses sinetron religi. Ustad Sombong Kuburannya
Gosong atau Tukang Bubur Bisa Naik Haji. Setelah rating-nya bagus terus
broadcast lainnya latah, bikin juga sinetron serupa. Lalu hilang setelah
antiklimaks. Aduh ngeri banget deh kalau sampai ini terjadi. Nggak kebayang
semua studio 21 muter jenis film nasional sejenis. Kayak zaman dulu ngeseks ya
semua bikin ngeseks juga. Terus Babi Ngepet, produser lainnya tak ketinggalan
kereta.

Ah, semoga kecemasan saya kali ini tak beralasan. Ayo bikin lagi film lain yang
bagus. Jangan biarkan film nasional mati suri lagi ditinggal penonton di
negerinya sendiri.

[ppiindia] Business And Its Benefits In Islam

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
Business will bring two types of profits:1. Profits in the form of money;
although there are circumstances where one failed to gain anything from the
business.2. Profits in the form of good rewards in the Hereafter; although
there are people who commit sins and transgressions in their business and Allah
has promised them the suitable rewards as well.
In this discussion there is no need to list out the necessary steps to be taken
to make monetary profits in business. This has been discussed greatly by the
experts. However, we provide an opportunity here to discuss the benefits of
doing business in Islam.
Business is one of the acts of devotion to Allah. We are granted opportunities
to bring ourselves closer to Allah. We are granted opportunities to think and
getting ourselves ready to uphold the shariah (rules) and the characters of
Allah. Business is an arena to seek “taqwa” (fear of Allah).
While prayers (solat) are the specific occasions to renew our pledge and
intention, to do post-mortem on our past deeds, and to renew our hope to live
and die to seek “taqwa” and to be a servant to Allah, business on the other
hand is the manifestation of such prayers to widen, extend and expand the
activities of the shariah of Allah.
If we can uphold the shariah of Allah through all our business activities, it
means that the whole period we spend in business are considered as an act of
devotion, that bears far bigger rewards than commendable prayers (solat sunat)
or commendable fasting. This indicates that our hearts are truly with Allah in
our effort to fight against our evil desires (nafs) in order to uphold whatever
He likes and whatever He prefers.
Listed below are the profits that can be gained from business that is carried
out truly because of Allah and in accordance to the shariah of Allah: -1. In
doing business, we are not only trying to make profits from customers but we
are actually doing service to the society by providing the goods people need.
By selling our goods, various people are being served well whether directly or
indirectly. We get good rewards for giving such services. We should be thankful
to Allah and to the customers for accepting our services. Because of them,
Allah gives us good rewards.2. Specifically in the supply of provisions, which
include food and drinks, these are essential items for consumers and they will
try to obtain them no matter how difficult it is. Therefore, if we run a
business that deals with provisions in a certain place, we are providing
essential services for the community. This service in actual fact, will bring
about great rewards in the Hereafter as we manage to help lessen the burden of
the community. They should be thankful although this is not solicited.
Better still if we are able to sell the goods at reasonable prices thus
providing huge help to the customers. And would not we feel satisfied and
victorious to be able to make our fellow humankind happy and in doing so, Allah
will in turn make us happy. Thus in business , do not merely think in terms of
monetary gains alone as there are many other forms of profit. Do not be worried
about our sustenance. If we put our trust in Allah by giving priority to
whatever He likes, has not Allah promised to help? Allah is All Rich and
Benevolent.3. When both businessmen and consumers feel they have benefited from
each other, there would be feelings of appreciation and need from both parties,
ultimately their hearts will become attached. Friendship blooms. The longer we
do business, the better opportunity we have to serve customers and the more
friends we can make. Having friends are wonderful! Friends are a benefit on
earth and in the Hereafter when they can give intercession (shafa’ah).4. Buying
and selling between customers and retailer require cooperation between the two
parties. If both customer and retailer feel each other’s need, surely they must
cooperate and help each other. There should be no oppression. As an example, if
the retailer is busy especially when there are many customers to serve,
customers can help the retailer by taking what they need themselves. Retailers,
as a token of gratitude, could give something to them in return, may it be just
a piece of candy.
Another instance when a restaurant or eatery is extremely busy with customers,
it is considered a good deed for patrons to help collect and arrange used cups
and plates, help to clean the table off spills, scraps of the meal after they
have finished their meal. This helps the restaurateur and can help develop good
relationship between the two. Business should be an arena for cooperation and
unity within the society. Unfortunately, this opportunity in getting to know
each other through business cooperation is not fully utilized by either
business owners or customers.5. Mankind should endeavour to become tolerant and
to yield to others. By being so, man can be virtuous. Is it not good if we can

[ppiindia] HOW TO ADMINISTER THE FOUR ELEMENTS IN MAN(THE PHYSICAL, THE MIND, THE NAFS AND THE SOUL OR HEART)

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
Within the self of man, there are four elements that are very important namely
the physical, the mind, the nafs (lust) and the soul (heart). We must be aware
of these elements. We must take care of them and administer them the best way
possible, so that mankind can be aware of his humanity and can appropriately
act as the servant of Allah and as His vicegerent on earth. Otherwise, mankind
will only appear to be human but his attributes and behaviour will be that of
animals and satan.
They will ruin themselves and other people and in fact will destroy all life
and civilization on the face of this earth. As such, Islam strongly advocates
that the four elements in the self of man be taken care of, nurtured,
administered and put in the proper place in accordance to its roles. This is
such, that the four elements can contribute to the good of the individual self
and to the universe as a whole congruent to the demands of Allah upon humankind
as His servant and vicegerent on earth.
What happens when the elements in the self of man become ill?
The Physical
When the physical falls ill, it becomes weak. This renders the physical
inactive so much so it cannot strive and work.
The Mind
When the mind falls ill, it cannot think properly, it becomes forgetful, it
cannot comprehend knowledge and information or it may even make one lose his
mind totally.
The Nafs
When the nafs falls ill, one will have no appetite for food nor the desire to
be together with his wife. The SoulWhen the soul falls ill, one loses interest
to do good, becomes inconsiderate, loses sympathy for others, dislikes helping
and doing service to other people, does not feel sinful, does not feel regret
for any wrong doing, loses his fear of sins and finds it difficult to accept
criticisms. When the soul or heart of man becomes ill?
Most people are unaware and will not realise it if their souls fall ill. If
someone else notice it and tell them so, they find it difficult to accept. In
fact, they will be enraged if told that their souls are ill or diseased.
Because of the fact that the soul is fine and esoteric, it cannot be seen. It
nestles in the flesh of the heart. It is what is called the spiritual heart. As
such it cannot be seen by the naked eye. It can only be seen by the vision of
the heart and illuminated by divine revelation (wahyu). This is why it is
difficult to detect ailments of the soul or heart or what is sometimes known as
diseases of the spirit. Consequently, it is also difficult to remedy.
Physical illnesses or ailments on the other hand are easily seen, detected and
diagnosed because it can be seen by the naked eye. To cure such illnesses too
is easy compared to curing spiritual illnesses or diseases of the soul. There
are also numerous doctors and specialist who can cure physical illnesses. But
doctors and specialists who can remedy spiritual illnesses are scarce and very
few. As a result most people who are inflicted by spiritual illnesses and
diseases of the soul are left neglected and unattended until they die.
At the same time, most people seriously fight against physical diseases but are
laxed and apathetic in dealing with spiritual diseases, whereas spiritual
diseases or diseases of the soul are markedly more dangerous than the physical
ones.

[ppiindia] ISLAMIC FINANCIAL STRENGTH

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
The whole world is particular about economy which is considered as the main
source of life. Every nation and every country strive hard to strengthen their
economic situation. When the economy of a country is strong, the country will
advance in many other fields like industries, technologies and even military.
The strong economy enables a country to take over another country. Little
wonder, economy is always the focus of all the world leaders.
The muslim world are also in the race. They are also strengthening their
economy. Many via the capitalist system introduced and supported by the Western
countries and the Jews. The muslim forget that Islam has its own economic
system which is far better than the capitalist. Under islamic economy, God is
the essence.
The capitalist’s main focus is profitability per se. The concept of love and
care in undertaking business decision is almost non existing. Economy as an
ibadah is unthinkable. As such, capitalists will compete vigorously to increase
their profits and minimize their losses even by stepping on others.
Unfortunately, many muslims are also in the same school of thought. Instead of
taking God as the guidance, we try to compete with the capitalists on their own
platform which is created by them to generate income for themselves. The
result? We always failed and face further diminution.
Muslims must reassess their economic focus and guidelines. Taqwa is the
foundation upon which all business decisions and planning should be
constructed. The Islamic economic and financial systems are meant to protect
human, and to promote love and care, unity among all, bringing peace and
harmony here and the hereafter.

[ppiindia] DEFINITION OF TAQWA

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
When taqwa is mentioned, it would be interpreted as fear of God. This is not so
as taqwa does not mean fear. Taqwa towards God does not mean fear of God. Fear
of God is one of the attributes of mahmudah which is embodied into the
attributes of taqwa, but it is not considered as taqwa. Fear in Arabic language
is khauf or khasha.
Taqwa originated from the term waqa-yaqi-wiqoyah which means to preserve. The
proof statement is in the verse of the Quran as follows:
Meaning: “O you who have attained to faith! Ward off from yourselves and those
who are close to you, that fire (of the Hereafter).” (At Tahrim: 6)
God has stipulated in the Quran with the kalimah ittaqu or yattaqi. Additional
words to the basic kalimah waqa would alter the meaning. At this instance,
ittaqullah means ‘one must take Allah as the One who cares/guards/protects’.
God must be taken as the Protector’. God taken as the Fortress or stronghold.
Once under God's protection, within His Fortress or stronghold, negative or
dangerous elements would not penetrate or break through. In other words, God is
the wall, protection against evil.
The endeavours rendering Allah as the One who cares or protects or be the
fortress are by implementing His commands both physically and spiritually. In
other words, His commands are meant for developing the attributes of mahmudah.
To accumulate and nurture the attributes of mahmudah are the endeavours
rendering Allah as the One who cares or protects. To develop the attributes of
mahmudah are the efforts towards taqwa.
Taqwa or wiqoyah have been misinterpreted and its intentions have been limited.
It's actually global and comprehensive, like a storage or warehouse for
mahmudah (good attributes) consisting of all the attributes of mahmudah. It
includes patience, acceptance (redha) , generosity, being loving and caring,
charitable with forgiveness vice versa and many other good attributes. The
entire mahmudah attributes are considered as taqwa. Thus taqwa meant a great
deal. It provides security in this world and the Hereafter.
As such if we say ittaqullah, it would mean; ‘you must take Allah as the One
who care for you’. Many of the Islamic terms have been misinterpreted and
misused causing the loss of their bliss or barakah. When Islamic terms are in
use, somehow there are no associated feelings or sense. For example the term
‘khalwat’ is an honourable word meant as one in a state of solitude with God.
It is part of the practices of sufism. However, its interpretation has deviated
from the original, now it is meant as the close proximity between man and woman
who are not muhram. The same with the term ittaqullah. Every week on Fridays,
the term is being called aloud at the mimbar of the mosque, but majority of the
congregation (jamaah) could not sense anything. The blessedness or barakah of
the term has gone as it has been misinterpreted.
To be someone with taqwa means to be one under God's protection and care and
staying within God's fortress or stronghold. One is protected, immuned or
untouched from external invasions.Someone with taqwa could be considered as one
wearing the armour of steel or bulletproof jacket.
Taqwa is the spiritual attire. It is the rituals for the soul. Taqwa is an
inner matter involving the rituals of the heart. When sincerely practised and
performed, the attributes of mahmudah such as sincerity, just, truthfulness,
loving and caring, gentleness, generous, tawadhuk, humbleness, tolerant,
humanitarian, patience, redha, tawakal, giving priority to others, forgiveness,
trustworthy, consistent, hard working, open heartedness, cooperative, sympathy,
compassion and others, will submerge.
The person with taqwa is an extraordinary person as he has the attributes of
malaikat. He is a godly person receiving assistance and protection from God
with guaranteed security in this world and the Hereafter.

[ppiindia] Re: Pernyataan Pemerintah Belanda ttg. film Fitna

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik imuchtarom

Kebetulan saya mengikuti berita ini sejak masih
berupa rencana oleh Geert. Sejak awal, pemerintah
Belanda berusaha mendiscourage Geert agar mengurungkan

menampilkan film tsb:

*** there is no new material in this film.

saya yakin materi film nya Geert enggak jauh-jauh berbeda
dari materi hujatan yang sering ditayangkan para
internaut Indonesia itu.

***

2 organisasi Islam terbesar: Muhammadiyah NU konon
sudah mengirim surat protes ke pemerintah Belanda.
Kemarin PM Belanda mengirim surat jawaban ke PB NU
menjelaskan posisi resmi pemerintah Belanda.

***

Reaksi dunia internasional:

Dewan HAM PBB meloloskan reaksi mengutuk penggambaran
termasuk negara-negara Muslim cukup berperan.

Dari total sekitar 45 anggota/negara, 21 mendukung
resolusi ini melawan 10 yang menolak, sisanya abstain.
Yang menolak adalah negara-negara Eropa + Kanada.
Argumentasi penolakan umumnya, karena mereka tidak
ingin isu religious-defamation dijadikan alasan

Setidaknya presiden EU ikut memberi komentar negatif
mengenai film tsb.
of expression semacam itu.

Sekjen PBB Ban Kim Moon juga memberi komentar negatif.

Saya punya 1 pertanyaan saja kepada para pemimpin Eropa:
---

Kalau betul pemerintah negara-negara Eropa menjunjung
tinggi freedom of expression, kenapa orang yang
menyatakan sikap tidak mempercayai peristiwa Holocaust
- Holocaust Denial- ( yang umumnya diyakini benar-benar
terjadi di zaman Nazi) diancam dengan hukuman
penjara?

Silahkan membaca uraian ringkas di bawah ini. Kiranya
lalu ( sejak abad pertengahan s/d tahun 1940-an sebelum
akhirnya mereka membantu mendirikan negara Israel ).

kritik sosial, semacam Republik Mimpi).

Kadang-kadang simbol-simbol agama lainnya seperti
Islam dan Budha juga menjadi sasaran. Sejak peristiwa
WTC, Islam lebih sering lagi dijadikan sasaran.

Tetapi BELUM PERNAH 1 kali-pun, saya melihat TV-TV
Jerman ini BERANI menjadikan figur atau simbol-simbol
yang berkaitan dengan agama/komunitas Yahudi untuk
sasaran banyolan/kritik ataupun ilustrasi dalam
iklan mereka, termasuk di dalam karikatur-karikatur
media cetak mereka.

Yah, begitulah perilaku sebuah bangsa yang merasa
terlanjur punya beban dosa sejarah di masa lalu, ...

[ppiindia] One World, One Dream !

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mangucup88

Sedangkan anak kecil
baru mulai bisa bermimpi setelah ia mencapai usia tiga sampai empat
tahun.

Tiga sastra klasik terciptakan setelah sang penulis mendapatkan

Joe Griffin seorang psikolog

berhasil mewujudkan impiannya menjadi kenyataan. Seperti juga Martin
Luther King Jr. Pada awalnya ia hanya memiliki suatu impian saja,
dimana ia sendiri menyatakannya I have a Dream!

batu. Yes - We Can make our Dreams Come True !

MURAD AIDIT In Memoriam

Wawancara dengan HD. Haryo Sasongko, 26 November 2000

* * *
Murad Aidit, adik kandung DN Aidit, Ketua CC PKI. Hanya seratus hari setelah

dipimpinnya.

Abdullah Aidit mempunyai anak tertua, DN Aidit, menyusul kemudian Basri Aidit,
Murad Aidit, Sobron Aidit dan Asahan Aidit, yang bungsu. Murad dilahirkan pada
21 Agustus 1927, pendidikan HIS di Tanjungpandan.

kemudian diberangkatkan ke Pulau Buru bersama sekitar 500-an tapol lainnya.

KTPnya diberi tanda ET.Memasuki usia
73 tahun

[ppiindia] WHEN THE MAIN PILLARS OF SOCIETY ARE GOOD, THE REST OF SOCIETY WILL FOLLOW SUIT

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
No one likes a society that is beset with ailments, problems and the emergence
of negative symptoms, like the occurrence of the various forms of crime and
vandalism such as theft, robbery, strife, fraud, adultery, rape, disrespect for
leaders and the aged, no compassion for the young, destruction of public
property, loitering and abusive behaviours. It will destroy public peace and
instill restlessness, fear, worry, nervousness and turmoil among the society
whether directly or indirectly.Negative events happen in the society here. What
I wish discuss is Islamic society as outlined above.
Inevitably there will be groups which will think and try to overcome such
problems. Normally the educated and those with some standing in society will
come forward to address the problem. The general populace will surely be in the
dark, confused and in such confusion and fear, they prefer to wait and see who
will take responsibility.
When a group comes forward to solve the problems of the society, it is for
certain that they will meet and discuss proposals. Finally conclusions
pertaining to the actions to be taken and steps as to how it will be
implemented, is taken as a guide. Such mechanism and efforts comes second in
the process of solving the ailments of society. The basis of solving such
problems is to ensure that the main pillars or stalwarts of such society who
wish to take action must firstly be good. What is meant by pillars or stalwarts
of society are the heads of the various races, the leaders of society, the
theologians (ulama), the educated elite, political leaders, government officers
especially those holding high posts and lastly, parents.
Not only should they take action to arrest the problems but they must also set
good examples to society, so that the public will love, respect and give them
their heartfelt support and fullest cooperation. Moreover, those who cause the
problems will feel ashamed and be respectful. Whatever the leaders say will be
heeded. More importantly, the leaders will not be mocked and scoffed at behind
their backs. The main pillars or stalwarts of society are the examples and role
models that the public emulates. If they can be good examples, their efforts
will become effective because the public respect and is shy of them.
Their words and suggestions are readily accepted. More important than that is
Allah SWT will help and will grant them success through their efforts. Hence
the stalwarts of society must be people whose religious practices (ibadah) are
good, who have knowledge and good character such as being humble, generous,
loving and caring, gentle, honest, sympathetic, compromising, who serve others
before self and other positive qualities. When the pillars and stalwarts of
society are good, they are loved and respected. They become role models for the
public. Their efforts are fully accepted. Their struggle is whole-heartedly
supported. The public feels ashamed and is filled with self-realization.
Allah’s assistance comes because of their “taqwa” (fear of Allah). The pillars
of society are like masts or poles. The people are like shadows of the masts or
poles. If the masts or poles are straight, their shadows will also be straight.
If the masts or poles are crooked, their shadows will also be crooked. Such are
the stalwarts of society. If they are good, the society will be good. The
people are apt to follow and emulate, especially when those whom they follow
are people they love and respect.
Today it is difficult to alleviate the evils in society because its pillars or
stalwarts who have the power in the society and who wish to be responsible for
the society, are by the majority not loved and respected. In fact, there are
cases where their efforts are mocked and scoffed at behind their backs if not
in public, for the people and the criminals know the evil deeds of the
stalwarts themselves so much so they are neither loved nor respected. The
public refuses to give full support.
The bad-hats in society hate them more. There are times when they become
angrier and revengeful. They commit more wild and savage transgressions
worsening the situation.Examples of the leaders’ evil (although they may not
commit vandalism): they are arrogant and hotheaded. They may not loiter, but
they are corrupt. They may not steal, but they are greedy and miserly.
They may not commit adultery but they are selfish. They may not quarrel but
they are conceited, they love glamour and fame.A normal person may not realize
these characters, because they seldom publicize these inner qualities in public
but Allah knows. This is the reason why Allah does not assist them in their
efforts.
Today too many stalwarts of society are not or are still not repentant but wish
to make others repent. They seldom purify themselves but want others to do so.
They want to change the violators of society but they themselves refuse to
change. Moreover while they refuse to

[ppiindia] Islam is rising from the EAST (Through LOVE and CARE)…

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
I observe, Malaysia, our beloved land is undergoing a conventional yet
extraordinary process of progressing towards becoming an Islamic nation in this
last era. She will become a country of peace, prosperity and blessed the by
Oft- Forgiving Allah.
This process had started since the past 40 years. And it is not impossible to
be realized with God’s will. We should not, however, be anxious or perturbed by
this statement. Let us wait and see whether this vision will materialise. Let
us not object or spurn it too hurriedly, in order to avoid any later
embarrassment.
There are many famous Hadiths regarding the revival of Islam in the East. There
are also many famous Hadiths regarding Al Mahdi, and the founders of this
revival. Moreover, Islamic scholar and theologians of the Middle East including
Morroco had said
“Islam will re-emerge from this region (the East).”
Among those who mentioned of this revival beginning from the East was the late
Sheikh Abdullah As-Siddiq Al Ghumari, a famous Hadith expert from Morroco who
was also a saint. It was told that during his final moments on his deathbed in
1993, a Morrocan undergraduate from a university in France, Atiya Abdel Illah,
asked of his opinion an Islamic movement in Malaysia and its leader.
Sheikh Abdullah instantly arose from his weak and critical state, and despite
great difficulty, replied slowly but clearly with the words,
“Nur…Nur… (Light…Light…).”
Not long after that, he died. Such is the the truth of a death statement of a
saint.
This is also the opinion of many soothsayers around the world whether of the
past or the present, including the orthodox-Jews. This is why they are very
sensitive concerning this revival of Islam. It is therefore of no surprise that
they (esp the Zionist regime) are preparing themselves in their own way in
facing the destined revival. Their conviction that this is the era promised for
Islam can be seen through our experiences with them.
An economic journalist from Egypt, Asraf Numeiri, once told of his experience
when he met a group of Israel journalists who visited Egypt. Little did he
expect that in one of their meetings, they ended up having an intense debate
regarding faith and religion. The debate concluded with a threat from the
Jewish journalists, proclaiming,
“We will not be threatened by you Arabs. We will not be defeated by you, and
neither will you be able to stop us.”
The much-upset Egyptian journalists then retaliated by proclaiming otherwise
and mentioning,
“We Arabs are willing to die in the path of the struggle. Take note of what
happened in Afghanistan- how many Arabs there became martyrs? The same happened
in Bosnia, how many Arab fighters died there?”
The Jewish Journalists then responded with a sneering smile,
“We are not afraid even if your people are willing to die. According to our
understanding, it is not your people who will cause us trouble. We have
identified the people who will truly obstruct us. They are people of a
particular group and a particular race from the East. We have identified who
they are; we know their leader, their methods of struggle, their group or
jamaah and their country of origin. These are the people who will cause us
trouble; not you.”
In another incident, a Tabligh group from Singapore arrived in Baitul Maqdis
for a visit. Upon their arrival, a Jewish rabbi approached them and asked,
“Who amongst you come from the East?”
One of them admitted he came from the East, i.e., Singapore.
But the rabbi quickly added, “I meant Malaysia.”
Perplexed, the Tabligh member asked, “Why should Malaysia be considered as
‘East’? Why not Singapore?”
The rabbi then answered, “Because there will emerge the man who will hand over
the black pennon to Al-Mahdi.”
Notice how anticipative and sensitive they are concerning this revival. They
are fully aware that this time Islam will emerge from the East. We, Muslims,
should in fact be more anticipative and sensitive compared to them.
Therefore, whosoever wish to refute or belittle the Hadiths concerning the
revival of Islam from the East, should be careful and be a little more patient.
It will be a reality not too long from now.
These few years will determine the truth. According to schedule, it will surely
take place because it has been promised by God. The majority of Muslims in
Malaysia are in full agreement to this view. This is exciting news that will
greatly benefit to humankind.
Speaking as an Islamic fighter from the East, I am most certain that Malaysia
is the country meant as The East and that Malaysia will be the Islamic nation
as mentioned.
I purposely state my confidence in this truth before it truly happens, in order
to attract the attention of Muslims so that they could think and ponder about
this grand event.
If it does not happen, we will not lose anything. If it does happen, it will
be of great benefit to us because we are ready and prepared. Like a condominium
which is to collapse;

[ppiindia] HADITH - Ikhwan (Brothers) Rasulullah

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
One day the Messenger of Allah (PBUH: peace be upon him) asked his companions:
“Which of God’s creatures possess the most amazing iman (faith)?”“The Angels,”
answered his companions.“How would the Angels not have faith in Allah when they
are always close to Him,” replied the Messenger in disagreement.“The prophets,”
answered the other companions.“How would the prophets not have faith when words
of God are revealed unto them?” the Messenger disagreed.“We - your companions?”
the companions suggested.“How would you not have faith when I am always amidst
you?” retorted the Messenger.
Finally the Messenger decreed: “The creatures with the most amazing iman are
those who live after me. They have never met me but they declare faith in me.
They love me more than they love their children and elders. They are my Ikhwan
(Brothers). They read the Quran and are faithful to all its contents.”(Related
by Abu Ya’la)
“O Abu Bakr,” the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) asked, “Do you not long for my
Ikhwan since they also love you because you are my companion?”(Related by Ibnu
Hajar Asqalani)
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) continued: “Good tidings for those who meet and
declare faith in me. And sevenfold good tidings for those who declare faith in
me but have never met me.” (Related by Ahmad)
Let it be known to you, that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) longs for a tha’ifah
(group) from amongst his ummah near the end of time; an ummah whose morals are
akin to the prophets’ and who remain steadfast to the ways of the siddiqin
(righteous). They are the strange ones among the general Muslim population.

[ppiindia] Menggunakan Nikmat Di Jalan Tuhan

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
rahmat tetapi bertukar menjadi istidraj.
proyek membangunkan keperluan umat Islam.
kehendak Tuhan.
Sekian.

[ppiindia] THE HIDDEN KNOWLEDGE

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
Among these things are:
1. One of the ways to foster mankind to be good is to endeavor to hurt his nafs
(desire).

2. A Muslim who dies in pain due to his physical disease, such pain obliterates
his sins or he is awarded a high standing in heaven. But if he dies with the
disease of his soul (heart), he goes to hell.

3. A man who suffers physical disease, such disease affects his physical, but a
man who suffers disease of the soul (heart) will destroy many things including
total destruction on earth.

4. We find it difficult to manage things or matters that we truly like or
favor. Normally we often make mistakes in managing them.

5. Most of us can talk about diseases of the soul (heart) but fail to detect
such diseases within themselves. Hence, there are people who talk about
arrogance, but the same time they are arrogant themselves.

6. To nurture people informally and through our attitude (manners) is more
effective than to give them knowledge and its theories.

7. Unbrainy or uneducated people are destroyed by the most stupid of creations.
In fact, the cleverest of people including professors as well are also
destroyed by them: which is money and wealth.

8. A race of people who have taqwa (fear of Allah) and knowledge, will have
control over other races. But majority of races are not able to follow this
path. So they control other races with their physical might and strength but
this brings about too much destruction.

9. People who own the world always have souls that are not at peace. People who
own Allah have souls that are serene and at peace. As such, there are people
who own the world but who commit suicide. This does not happen to people who
have God.
10. A person who commits suicide has created a bigger sin than a person who
kills another person.

11. Actually, problems of human life in this world can be easily solved if we
know the secret; which is faith and taqwa (fear of Allah). With faith and
taqwa, leaders will protect the people and will uphold justice, the wealthy
will be generous, the poor will be patient, the knowledgeable will teach, the
theologians will give advice and will foster people, and the youth (males and
females) will contribute their energy. Every human will maintain his or her
self respect and are by nature shy. Everyone will give priority to other
people. Young children are shown love and care, those in school are not to be
shown love and care openly and the grown-ups are shown warmth and regarded as
friends and are brought into discussions.

12. A person will be loved or will be given sympathy if he knows himself and is
able to put himself in his proper place.

13. It is the innate nature of man to love peace, love and care, sympathy,
being helped and assisted, being respected and not being disturbed. But man
always forget that sometimes and in fact in most cases, the thing that he does
not like, occurs as a result of his own fault whether directly or indirectly.
As an example, a tyrant will be treated with hate and spite and people will
create trouble for him. There will be no peace for him. When there is no peace,
the tyrant himself will suffer difficulty and will be threatened. When the rich
and wealthy are misers, people will be envious and spiteful. They (the rich)
will then have to bear the consequences. When one is arrogant, people hate him.
If something happens that put him in difficulty, people will not care for him
and they will not sympathize with him. So it is our attitude that sometimes
invite calamity and adversity. The same analogy can be drawn from other evil
attitudes.

[ppiindia] Hidden Secrets

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
The Apostles, Prophets and saints are people who are loved by Allah Taala. They
are the chosen ones whom Allah loves and whom Allah gives attention to. But why
does God impose so much trials and tribulations upon them? Why are they put
into difficulties? Why are they poor? Whereas leaders and dignitaries who are
infidels (kafir), hypocrites (munafiq) and unbecoming (fasiq) are given
comfort, are given luxury and are given wealth.
Why? There are several covert reasons for this. Among them:
i. So that they will always maintain a strong feeling of subservience towards
God. They will only rely and put their hopes upon God. God is their only
savior. These are the characteristics of a servant that Allah Taala prefers.
Upon these feelings lie His acceptance and love. With that Allah Taala awards
them high status and rank in paradise which is eternal.
ii. Allah Taala wants to tell and to teach mankind that worldly materials and
luxuries are worthless compared to the materials and luxuries of the Hereafter.
Hence, what is the point of giving worthless things to those whom He loves as
these thing are not easy to manage.

[ppiindia] Perasaan Seorang Hamba

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
Dalam kita membuat kebaikan baik ketika kita sedang melaksanakan sembahyang,
bersedekah, menolong orang, mengerjakan haji atau berbagai kebaikan lain,
bagaimana rasa hati kita di waktu itu? Bilamana membuat kebaikan, hati kita
mengetahui sejauhmana ikhlasnya ibadah seseorang hambaNya.Mana rasa hamba kita,
bila kita buat kebaikan atau buat ibadah? Bukankah kita ini hamba
Tuhan.Bagaimana adab, tingkah laku seorang hamba? Haruslah betul-betul menjaga
patut-patutnya kita rasa berdosa.

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri
selesai-selesai, malah semakin hari semakin bertambah pula. Maka, benarlah
Tuhan pasti
akan membantunya.

[ppiindia] Newspaper print ad revenue falls at record pace in 2007, online ads rise

Newspaper print ad revenue falls at record pace in 2007, online ads rise
1 day ago

NEW YORK - Newspaper print advertising revenue fell by the biggest percentage
on record in 2007, while revenue from online newspaper ads grew but at a slower
pace than a year ago, an industry trade group reported Friday.

The growth in online ad revenue was not enough to overcome the print decline,
as total newspaper ad revenue fell 7.9 per cent to $45.38 billion.

Print advertising revenue fell 9.4 per cent to $42.2 billion last year,
according to data released the Newspaper Association of America.

That marks the largest decline since the association began tracking the data in
1950.

The previous biggest contraction was a nine per cent decline in 2001. Print ad
revenue fell 1.7 per cent in 2006.

The NAA reported a 16.5 per cent drop in print classified ads in 2007 to $14.19
billion. Retail ads, which are also affected by slowing consumer spending, fell
five per cent to $21.02 billion.

Advertising declines, particularly for real estate and classified ads as the
housing market crashed and the economy slowed, led to lower sales at nearly all
major newspaper publishers last year.

Internet advertising revenue grew 18.8 per cent to $3.17 billion, but slowed
from the year-ago pace of 31.5 per cent.

The result was also the slowest growth for online newspaper ads since the
association began counting in 2003.

SINOPSIS

Sehingga setiap
individu menjadi suatu individu baru yang memiliki
kemampuan lebih dari sebelumnya. Kemampuan manusia
yang sudah lama terkubur karena tidak pernah
diperhatikan dan sudah terdesak oleh kemajuan jaman,
menjadi tersadari atau lebih tepatnya menjadi bagian
penting dalam manusia membuat pertimbangan untuk
mengambil keputusan.

Tidaklah berarti dia menjadi manusia super, tetapi
bernilai positif berubah menjadi kutukan.

Sedangkan strategi bertujuan meminimalkan kerugian

dibangun atas dasar kepastian.

Setelah dimensi waktu kita
sadari, banyak pengetahuan yang dahulu terasa benar,
akhirnya kebenarannya hanya di dalam lingkup dan
kondisi yang sangat sempit dan tertentu.

Anda mempunyai kesadaran akan adanya pilihan. Pilihan
ada ditangan anda. Tetap

 Manusia hidup dengan dua paru-paru
Tapi di usia beliamu yang berkobar
 Sebuah paru-paru harus di buang
 Karna terlalu banyak menerima pukulan
 Juga tendangan musuh kaki pendek
 Dan musuh putih jangkung
 Dalam penjara-penjara yang bertukar majikan
Lalu majikan yang berkulit sama denganmu
Bahkan yang pernah sama mengusir musuh
 Lalu melemparkamu jauh ke pulau`siksa
 Paru yang tinggal ahirnya berhenti
Pada tangga usiamu yang ke lapan dua
 Meninggalkan keadilan yang tercampak
 Meninggalkan dendam tak terbalas
 Meninggalkan negerimu yang begitu buruk
Meninggalkan kulit bumi yang selalu berdarah
Meninggalkan kekalahan yang dikutuki oleh teman-temanmu
Meninggalkan fitnah yang diabadikan oleh musuh-musuhmu
Dan ahirnya kau juga bahagia abadi
Dan mulailah aku menyimpan rasa iri hati
Karena cuma itu yang diwariskan bangsa kita
Aku tak bisa jadi yang lain
Jadi aku sama dengan yang lain-lainnya
 Iri hati adalah jiwa kita
Yang bahkan di setiap kepergian siapa saja
ah, dia sudah senang, saya masih susah
 Kita adalah bangsa besar
Selamat jalan artinya jalannya sudah selamat
 Yang masih bisa berjalan sungguh
 Jalanmu sedang susah
 Bisakah aku tidak iri

[ppiindia] Falsafah Tajdid Sains Teknologi

2008-03-29 Terurut Topik mohamat safiri

Pertama kali saya mendengar tentang Abuya Syeikh Imam Ashaari Muhammad At
luas, mencakup seluruh aspek kehidupan manusia.
beliau merasa kurang senang. Tetapi yang terjadi luar biasa. Setelah diam
beliau uraikan tentang alam semesta bermula tentang tahap-tahap ‘the creation
beliau tentang falsafah sains.
——–
Falsafah Sains Tajdid
(Menurut Abuya Syeikh Imam Ashaari Muhammad At Tamimi)
pembangunan peradaban material. Penemuan-penemuan sains telah memberikan
bermacam-macam kemudahan hidup bagi manusia. Semua ini adalah nikmat, anugerah
dari Tuhan yang patut manusia syukuri.
Tetapi kelihatannya, semakin maju manusia, semakin sains berkembang, tetapi
sangat penting dibahas peranan manusia.
Maka
akan timbullah kasih sayang diantara sesama

Nusantara Symphony Pentaskan Karya Komponis Dunia

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Nusantara Symphony Orchestra (NSO) di Jakarta, Sabtu
malam, menggelar konser musik klasik karya para komponis dunia dalam tema Viva
Vienna bersama konduktor dari Tokyo National Universiti of Fine Arts and
Music, Hikotaro Yazaki.

menghadirkan karya Franz Schubert dalam Symphony no.9 in C major The Great,
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart dalam Symphony no.41 in C major Jupiter, dan Johan

Di bagian akhir konser ini karya Franz Schubert (1797-1828) The Great dimulai

internasional.(*)
