Re: [NF] Anyone purchase a mailing list cd lately?

2008-08-26 Thread Michael Madigan
This agency is actually humane. They'll set up long-term partial-payment
agreements, they won't touch your credit report you at all if you set up a
payment plan. And the payment plan is interest free. They have people who owe
thousands payins $10 and $20 a month. They also don't buy old paper, they only
get new accounts. They'll also take reasonable settlements. A lot of the
accounts are from people who use the emergency room without insurance with no
intent on paying at all, that's not fair to anyone. IF you use the emergency
room, you should pay, and they set up very long term payment plans. If you owe
$1000, they will set up to 100 month plans at $10.00 a month. More than fair.

Hi Michael!

I see you as too ethical to get involved in this sort of business. They
don't care if you are sick, injured, aged, widowed, unemployed or insane
- they just keep pounding on you no matter what.

They buy your written off folder for $25, harass you for months then
sue you. If you turn out to be not worth suing they sell the folder to
another Shylock and the process starts again. Each time the folder is
resold the statute of limitations starts over now that the law is different.

I've worked a deal with my collection agency to get a 10% commission on any
client I bring. So I want to try a targeted list with post cards, letters, and
mailers. It's been my experience that you have to do multiple mailings to the
same list to get remembered. This is going to be a nice stream of income and I
don't know why I didn't do this before.

Madigan,

Another good option is InfoUSA's www.SalesGenie.com. While it is more
expensive, the lists do seem to be a bit better scrubbed than most.

The folks I talk to say that SalesGenie and GoLeads are two of the better
lists. Melissa Data also sells lists, and theirs have code samples that are
easily incorporated into VFP programs.

Nothing is cheap anymore. Maybe they'll adjust a bit to meet with the new

The movie "Platoon" was mostly about the dirty side of the Vietnam war, thus it
did not receive the blessing of the USA Armed Service, who will help a producer
make a movie that reflects a more positive image by provided authentic weapons,
APC, Air Force helicopters and planes, and otherwise helping in any way they
can. Never-the-less, Platoon was a pretty good movie.

You should make plans to interrupt your movie or sleep to watch the Democratic

Hi Leland!

The website is downright hostile to "neo-conservatives", the majority of
the ones mentioned editorially are Jews.

I served my one month of active duty in Maine. It was August (1966) but
I nearly froze to death anyway. Of the guys I know around here who
served in 'Nam I would say that the "recreational" drugs were a greater
danger than the enemy's bullets. Some of them aren't clean yet, LOL.

I might watch "The Longest Day" tonight, unless I just go to sleep.

Unfortunately that is a shorter term solution every passing day, but far
more viable than remaining at the mercy of anything M$ happens to try
(successfully for the most part) jam down our colelctive throats. I am
using Ubuntu Linux (804) anywhere I can, and LOVE the iMac20 my wife has (I
get to touch it once in a while, when she is not looking ).

That said, most of my machines are still Windows 2003 Server, XP Pro and
2000 Pro. But the Linux and Dual Boot Windows/Ubuntu Linux workstations,
and Ubuntu Servers, are getting more use each passing week.

About the website:

#
Excerpt:

Right Web is a program of Political Research Associates (PRA) that
monitors U.S. organizations and individuals -- both in and out of
government -- that promote militarist foreign and defense policies, with
a special focus on the "war on terror" and the Middle East. Right Web
aims to foster informed public debate about these policies with feature
articles and profiles of individuals and organizations that examine
political discourses and institutional allegiances over time

Efforts to push militaristic policies cross party lines, and so Right
Web examines individuals and organizations across the political
spectrum, as well as "nonpartisan" political actors. Reporters,
researchers, and analysts have come to rely on Right Web for its
well-documented research and analysis.

Originally founded by the International Relations Center (IRC) in 2003,
Right Web represented a revival of an earlier IRC program called
_GroupWatch_ (1985-1991), which profiled more than 125 private,
quasi-governmental, and religious organizations that were closely
associated with the implementation of U.S. foreign policy in the 1980s,
especially in Central America. PRA took over Right Web in 2008 after IRC
closed its doors.

I notice that the website carries a profile on both Joe Lieberman and
John McCain.

I downloaded the movie "Platoon", which I have on tap for this evening.
Although I saw the movie a long time ago, I'm looking forward to

memories I have of my tour of duty in Vietnam back in 1967 and 1968.

Hope you don't mind but I sent you a screen capture to your personal email.

Because the options on the menu are disabled on a modal form, you
have to re-run the mpr in order to get the menu items enabled. There
may be more on this in the archives.

Find Dialog buttons disabled

2008-08-26 Thread henry.dagher
Hi,

VFP 9 SP1

I just added _med_find to a shortcut on edit boxes. The find dialog comes up
but the the FIND and REPLACE buttons are always disabled.

My forms are modal. I suspect this is the reason. Any way around this? Or is
there another reason?

Thanks,

Henry

Re: [OT] On the Road Again

2008-08-26 Thread Michael Madigan
The good things are

1. Natural Gas is cheaper than gasoline

2. Natural gas burns cleaner than gasoline

3. This nation produces a lot of its own natural gas

4. People who heat their homes with natural gas theoretically could get a
natural gas compressor to fill their cars at home.

5. This would be perfect for delivery trucks, mail trucks, school buses, and
any other vehicle that only needs to drive relatively short distances a day.

[OT] On the Road Again

2008-08-26 Thread Leland F. Jackson, CPA
A story about small autos that use natural gas as a fuel hit the
Washington Post today. From what I've gather the natural gas autos are
not a complete package.

1) The natural gas is stored in a compressed form in a heavy duty fuel
tank. Still, the fuel tank is huge and take up so much space there is
no room for a car trunk.

2) Even with a large heavy duty fuel tank, the natural gas vehicle only
hold the equivalent of 5 to 6 gallon of gas, which limits the range of
the vehicle to around 180 miles. This is not good for long trips,
especially when there are few service stations that offer natural gas
fuel, which mean the next nearest station could be a long distance away.

3) As per 2 above, there are few service station that carry natural gas.

4) The natural gas vehicle uses a combustion engine. I suppose this
would limit the compression ratio to something like 8 to 1 or 9 to 1,
whereas the diesel has a compression ration of 19 to 1 to 25 to 1. The
diesel would provide better performance with greater torque, and still
give better miles per gallon. Of setting the better mileage per gallon
in the diesel is a cheaper cost for an equivalent gallon of natural gas.

5) Natural gas is not a renewable energy. Once it is burned, it is
gone forever.

6) Natural gas prices have been under demand side economic pressure for
some time now, which has increased cost to the end users, and this trend
is likely to continue.

Hi Rafa,

Sql 2000, 7.0 and 6.5 doesn't work with Vista, you need at least 2005
sp2 instead:

I have checked at home and SS does work. I do have to log in as SA
and the local installed account does not work. Which is a good thing
I think. So if you did not provide a login, reinstall it.

Hi Leland!

Digging the hole deeper and deeper. By now you should know that the ONLY

way to get along with the 'slims (unrest in the ME) is to totally submit

to their agenda, which, of course, is the destruction of Israel and the
extermination of the Jews. Of course Ds hate Jews, if you don't you are
the exception, or just haven't thought it through.
